Blaine sleepily wandered into the kitchen. He was a little surprised to see Burt there. Secretly he hoped Burt would be at work.

"Morning Blaine" said Burt.

"Morning. Em...Kurt's up in the shower. He said I could get breakfast...if that's ok you with" said Blaine.

"Yeah that's fine. I take it that you two were...together last night?" questioned Burt a little awkwardly.

Blaine decided to sit down. He knew this was going to be a serious conversation. "Yes we were. But Kurt told me he asked you if it was alright. I would always want to respect your wishes" said Blaine.

"Yeah he asked me" started Burt "And I reluctantly agreed. Blaine I can't say I'm too happy about it."

"I know and I completely understand where you're coming from" said Blaine.

"Did you pressure him to get back together?" asked Burt with intent in his voice.

"No sir. Not at all. It was something that he wanted...we discussed it and it was something we both wanted" said Blaine hoping that Burt would believe him. Blaine needed Burt to know this was the truth. "We have decided to take things slowly and I think that's the right way to do things".

"Well I don't call this taking it slowly" said Burt in a very matter of fact way.

"I know what you must think...but Kurt...he needs time...he's..." Blaine was feeling very uncomfortable at this stage. "Kurt has to...".

"I have to what?" asked Kurt as he entered the kitchen.

"Kurt, I know I agreed to Blaine staying over but I'm not exactly over the moon about it" answered Burt.

Kurt felt embarrassed that they were having this conversation in front of Blaine. But he knew his Dad was the protective kind.

"Dad I know you care about me, but there's no need. Really I'm fine" Kurt hoped his Dad would drop it.

"Kurt I don't know if you are fine. You're rushing back into things, and I thought we talked about not throwing yourself around. About sex meaning something" Burt was beginning to feel uncomfortable but he knew for the sake of his son he couldn't let it drop.

Kurt was mortified as he glared at his Dad "That's not what's happening here. Blaine I'm sorry about this. I can't believe we are having this conversation".

Blaine finally spoke up "Kurt it's fine. I know you're Dad is just looking out for you." Blaine turned his attention to Burt "Even though I did a terrible thing to Kurt, we still love each other and we want to express that".

Kurt didn't know which way to look. He desperately wished he had spent longer in the shower.

"So does this mean that you two are properly back together" asked Burt curiously.

"No, it doesn't" answered Blaine a little sadly "What I was trying to tell you earlier is that Kurt is considering things. He has to test the water so to speak. Kurt needs time to see if this is what he wants".

"Dad this is something I have thought about and we both have discussed it" Kurt really hoped his Dad would understand.

"And Blaine are you prepared to wait until Kurt has decided if this is what he wants?" asked Burt.

"I'd wait as long as he needs" said Blaine.

"And what if Kurt can't decide" asked Burt objectively.

"I'll still wait. I'd wait forever for Kurt" said Blaine. Kurt noticed tears forming in Blaine's eyes.

"So you're happy to spend time in a relationship where you're never certain what the future holds or if the future holds anything?" said Burt. Kurt grimaced as his Dad held back no barriers.

"Yes" said Blaine very definitely. Blaine looked to Kurt and took his hands "Kurt I would rather be with you and have uncertainty, than not be with you at all". Kurt smiled sweetly at Blaine. Blaine put his arm around Kurt's waist.

"And what if Blaine breaks your heart again" asked Burt.

"Dad that's not fair" interjected Kurt.

"Kurt it's ok. Your Dad is right to look out for you." Blaine continued to talk while looking at Kurt, but also hoping Burt could detect the sincerity in his eyes and the meaning in his words "Kurt I promise that if you decide to give me your heart again, I will protect it and guard it with my life".

"Dad, we know that we have made mistakes. We know that we both have caused the other pain. But we love each other. I would really like if you could be happy for us" said Kurt.

"Kurt you're my son and I just want you to be happy. I do know that you're sensible. If this is what you want then I support it" said Burt.

Kurt hugged his Dad "Thanks Dad".

"I will ask you two to take care of each other" said Burt.

"We will" assured Kurt.

"I promise I will take care of Kurt" said Blaine as he looked at Kurt. Blaine smiled as he felt that everything would work out. He felt like one day he could win back Kurt's trust completely.
