Kurt and Blaine decided not to tell their parents about their plan to start a family just yet. They wanted to wait and make sure everything is going to work out before they get their family involved.
"So how are we going to do this? We need to decide who's going to be the baby's biological father, we'll need to visit the surrogacy agency, is there even an office close to us? Then, we'll have to pick a surrogate, which could take a while. This is a lot of work, straight couples don't know how easy they have it." Blaine hadn't realized just how much work would have to go into this.
"I don't know about which one of us is going to father the baby, but I can tell you that yes, there is an office in the city and I know this because I've already went to check things out. I also already have someone picked out to be our surrogate, and I think you'll agree that she's the perfect pick." Kurt smiled and took a sip of his coffee. They were having breakfast at Blaine's work while waiting for some of the area shops to open up.
"You really put a lot of thought into this before you mentioned it to me, didn't you?"
"Yep. Don't you want to know who I picked for our surrogate?"
"Of course."
"Okay, don't freak out, I've already talked to her about it and she is more than willing to do this for us."
"Kurt, stop stalling and just tell me who it is."
"Lucy."
"What?" Blaine's eyes went wide, there was no way Kurt had just said- "Lucy? Kurt-"
"I said don't freak out Blaine. She was the first person I talked to when I decided I wanted to bring it up, I've explained everything and she wants to do this."
"I-I- she never even-"
"I asked her not to say anything until after I talked to you about it. If you don't want her to-"
"No, no, I thinks it's a great idea. Lucy is a great choice, it's just a surprise, that's all." Blaine took Kurt's hand and gave him a reassuring smile.
"So, now all we have to decide on is who's going to be the baby's bio dad."
"Yeah, but I think that's enough baby talk for now, we have some shopping to do if you ever want to finish those costumes in time." Blaine stood to throw their trash away. The truth is, he doesn't want to talk about which one of them is going to be the baby's bio dad because he honestly doesn't know what he wants.
After they finished with the shopping, Kurt announced that he needed to meet with Josh to discuss a costume. so he sent Blaine home with a promise to bring home take-out.
On his way to the theatre, Kurt decided to call Lucy and tell her that Blaine had agreed on her being their surrogate.
"Hey Kurt, how'd it go?"
"After he got over the shock, he said it was a great idea."
"That's amazing Kurt! I'm glad everything is working out so far, you guys deserve this."
"Thanks Lucy, we couldn't do this without you. I- we, owe you so much for doing this."
"You don't owe me anything, I'm honored to do this. Have you guys told your parents yet?"
"No, not yet, we want to make sure everything goes well before we tell them. I haven't even told Rachel yet." Kurt said as he entered the theatre, hoping Josh would still be there.
"That's understandable, just let me know when you decide to move forward, I'll be ready."
"We will, and thanks again Lucy, for everything."
"You're welcome, tell Blaine I said hey."
"I will, we'll be in touch soon."
"Okey dokey. Bye Kurt."
"Bye Lu-Lu." Kurt hung up and went to find Josh. So far, so great.
Kurt brought the take-out home, just as promised, so they spent the evening in eating, watching bad reality t.v., and just relaxing.
After the fourth episode of Jersey Shore, Kurt muted the t.v. and turned to Blaine. "I want you to be our baby's bio dad."
"I-I- Kurt." Blaine didn't know what to say, he hadn't been expecting that.
"When I picture our first child, I see you sitting in the nursery, which I will design of course, in a rocking chair, rocking a little baby who has that mess of curly hair, or those bright, caramel colored eyes. You being the bio dad won't make him or her any less mine, I just really feel like you should do this. Are you okay with that?"
"I- of course, yes, as long as our baby is happy and healthy, I will happy with either of us being the bio dad."
Kurt gave Blaine that smile that crinkles his eyes and shows his teeth. The smile that shows that he is truly happy. "Thank you Blaine."
"No, thank you." Blaine said as he leaned in to kiss Kurt. Not everything is perfect, but in that moment, everything felt perfect.
