The week went by in a blur. The Andersons and the Hummels stayed in New York since Kurt's graduation was only a week after Blaine's, so the week was filled with family time in the Big Apple.
Blaine woke up early that Saturday morning and decided to fix breakfast. He carefully got out of bed, trying not to disturb Kurt, and sat off to the kitchen.
Kurt woke up to the smell of bacon and pancakes filling the air. He smiled and rolled out of bed to go find Blaine.
"You're up early." Kurt mumbled as he entered the kitchen.
"It's habit I guess. Are you hungry? I made bacon and blueberry pancakes because I know they're your favorite." Blaine smiled happily as he sat a plate in front of Kurt.
"You didn't have to make breakfast Blaine, but thank you, it looks delicious."
"I know I didn't have to, but I wanted to, so I did. Orange juice or coffee?"
"Both, please."
Blaine got the glasses and mugs out and poured the drinks before sitting down. "Are you excited for today?"
"I guess. I'm actually a little sad to be leaving NYADA, but I'm glad to be graduating. Does that make sense?"
"Yeah, I know what you mean, that's how I felt too."
"Isabelle wants me to come back full-time after graduation." Kurt said, taking a drink of orange juice.
"Are you going to?"
"I don't know. I really love working at Vogue, but I also want to explore performing. That is what I went to school for."
"I want you to do what you want to do, okay? Don't feel like you have to do something just because someone else wants you too." Blaine said seriously.
"It's just- Isabelle has been so nice to me, and to us. I don't-"
"Kurt, listen to me. If you don't want to go back to working full-time, tell her, she'll understand. If you do, that's great, but don't do it just because you feel like you owe it to her."
"I'll think about it. Today is my graduation day and that's what I'm going to focus on now."
They finished breakfast and cleaned up in comfortable silence, then headed to the bedroom to get ready for Kurt's graduation ceremony.
"I seriously hate weating a cap and gown, it's awful." Kurt complained for the fifth time in ten minutes.
"Listen Kiddo, I love you, I really do, but if you don't stop complaining..." Burt warned. They were outside the NYADA campus, waiting for the graduates to be called to line up.
"How do you live with him dude? It seems like he's gotten even more whiney." Finn asked Blaine.
Blaine laughed and held his hands up. "Don't drag me into this, I plead to fifth."
"Good call Blaine. I'd hate to have to make you sleep on the couch tonight."
"Kurt! They're calling line up!"
"That's my cue. I'll see you all on the other side." Kurt ran off with his classmates, leaving his family to get seated.
"Who are all of those people you were with?" Tyler, a guy from Kurt's dance class, asked.
"My family, my husband, and my in-laws." Kurt's heat still beats faster every time he calls Blaine his husband, even after three years of marriage.
After the ceremony was finished, Burt and Carole took them all out for dinner to celebrate. The food was just being served when Kurt's phone went off. Seeing that is was from Rachel, he excused himself to answer it.
"Rachel? Is everything-"
"I don't have much time, we only have a five minute water break so just listen. Our main costume designer just quit because the director hired her ex-husband as a producer, which means the position is open and I mentioned you to the director. He wants to meet you!"
"Wait, wait, are you saying that the director of the Off-Broadway production of Les Mis wants to meet with me as a potiental main costume designer for the show?" Kurt couldn't believe it.
"That's exactly what I'm saying. You know Adam is working on this show too, he said he thought you'd be a good choice, and when I mentioned that you've worked at Vogue.com for six or so years, he said to get you in here ASAP."
"Oh my God! Rachel, thank you! Tell Adam I said thank you! Oh my- I have to go tell everyone!"
"Okay, I need to get back to rehearsal. I'll call you after we're done here and give you more details."
"Alright, have fun and don't work too hard."
"Yeah right. Bye Kurt."
"Bye Rach, and thanks again." Kurt hung up and took a minute to calm himself down before walking back to his family to tell them the news.
He didn't know it then, but this job opportunity would change his and Blaine's lives forever.
