Author's Notes: The next chapter will be happier, Kurt and Blaine will be working on the nursery! :)-Krystal :) x

As it turns out, Kurt was right, Finn and Cooper were hiding something, but it wasn't nearly as bad as he first thought.

After the show was over for the night, Finn and Cooper insisted on taking Kurt and Blaine out to their favorite restaurant, using the excuse of wanting to catch up. Kurt could tell my the way Finn kept looking at Cooper that Cooper had something he needed to say, but wasn't. Kurt's first thought was James and that had him worried and anxious the entire walk to the restaurant.

"What's wrong with you? You seem really tense, did Coop say something to you?" Blaine asked Kurt while they were walking.

"I'm fine Blaine, just tired." Kurt knew the lie was obvious, he just hoped Blaine wouldn't push him for more information.

Blaine knew Kurt was lying, but he could tell Kurt didn't want to talk about whatever was on his mind, so he dropped the conversation for now, they had arrived at the restaurant anyway, there was no point in pushing the subject right now.

"So here's how this is going to work, you're going to get whatever you want off the menu, and I am going to pay for it. End of story." Cooper said when the waiter brought the menus along with their drinks.

"You really think you can afford all of that Coop? I know you don't get paid that well for toothpaste commercials." Blaine joked as he looked over the menu, he and Kurt had eaten here twice, but it was so expensive that they hadn't been back in a while.

"I can handle it, it's my treat." Cooper smiled his usual bright, lopsided smile, looking down at his menu.

"Not that I'm complaining, but why the special treatment Cooper?" Kurt asked, praising himself when his voice stayed steady.

"We're celebrating! You guys are having twins, your musical is doing amazing, I got a new job in Paris as an underwear model. There's a lot to celebrate."

"Wait. Did you just say you got a job as an underwear model in Paris?" Blaine wasn't sure he heard right.

"Yep, that's right."

"So that's what this is about, you're leaving." Kurt was relieved to hear it wasn't anything bad, but he didn't know how Blaine would take his brother moving to another country.

"I told him he had to tell you guys in person, he was just going to call once he got on the plane." Finn said, rolling his eyes.

"You're leaving? When? For how long?" Blaine wasn't sure why he was so upset, it's not like Cooper is ever around anyway, but the thought of him being in a completely different country is terrifying.

"Next week. Finn talked me into coming and seeing you guys before I go, so I'm here for the week, then I'll be gone for as long as I'm needed. It's an amazing opportunity and it pays good, I couldn't say no." Cooper's smile had faded just a bit. This is why he didn't want to tell Blaine in person, he hated leaving his little brother right in the middle of one of the most important times of his life. He'd done it once before when they were younger and he'd never forgiven himself for it.

"Oh. I uh, I'm happy for you Coop, you'll be great." Blaine smiled, blinking his eyes to keep the tears from falling. It was stupid to be upset about this, but all he could think about was the last time Cooper had left him.

"Hey, I'll come and visit you, and you'll come visit me. I promise it won't be like last time, okay squirt?"

"You said that last time."

"Well this time I mean it. I promise."

Blaine didn't have a chance to reply because the waiter came with their food. Everyone ate in an uncomfortable silence, Kurt kept looking from Blaine to Cooper, watching to make sure they were okay. Blaine kept his head down the entire time, Finn kept looking at Kurt trying to judge what he should do, if anything, and Cooper watched Blaine with sad eyes, wishing he could do this without hurting his brother. By the time they finished eating, the tension surrounding them was almost unbearable.

"I think we should head home, it's been a long day for us and I'm sure it has been for you guys too. We'll call you tomorrow and maybe set up a lunch date." Kurt said to Finn and Cooper as he stood up, tapping Blaine's arm to get him to follow.

"Okay, sounds good Kurt, we'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight." Finn smiled and waved the waiter over so Cooper could pay for the check.

Cooper looked up at his brother, not sure what to say. "I'm sorry Blainey."

"Don't be, you deserve this Coop, I'm just being stupid." Blaine said, not looking at Cooper.

"No you're not, I know you're upset, but I promise, I will come visit you."

Blaine just nodded, not trusting his voice, that was exactly what Cooper had said the last time, and it took years before he even called, let alone came home to visit.

"Come on honey, let's go home, okay?" Kurt wrapped his arm around Blaine's shoulders.

"Yeah." Blaine whispered, wrapping his arms around Kurt's torso as they walked out of the restaurant and into the brisk New York air.

They didn't speak the whole way home, or while Kurt unlocked the door, or while they got ready for bed. Only once they were laying down, wrapped up in each others' arms did Kurt finally speak.

"Blaine, I know it's stupid to ask but, are you okay?" Kurt asked, running a hand through Blaine's loose curls.

Blaine sighed heavily, hesitating before answering. "Yes, no, kind of. This is what happened when he left home for the first time. He said he would come visit and we'd see each other all the time, it's just reminding me of then and that wasn't a very good time for me."

"That was right after you came out to your parents, wasn't it?" Kurt had heard this story many times, but he thought maybe talking about it would help Blaine.

"Yeah. He got so upset with them that he just left. He'd been looking for a reason to go to California, and he finally had it. It just felt like he was leaving me when I needed him most. He was the only person who didn't judge me, he just accepted me for who I was, no questions asked. I know it's different now, I have you, I have Lucy and our twins, but it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt just as bad."

"I know. I know he promised you he'd come visit, but I'm going to promise you that we'll go visit him, and you know I don't break promises. I'm not going to let you lose your brother Blaine, I know what he means to you." Kurt kissed Blaine's forehead, hoping that his promise would help.

"What would I do without you? I love you so much." Blaine smiled softly at Kurt, burying his head in Kurt's chest.

"I love you too. Let's get some sleep, I know you're tired."

"M'kay. G'night Kurt."

"Goodnight Blaine." Kurt waited until Blaine was asleep before letting himself drift off, hoping that the morning would be better.
