Santana, flagged by Rachel and a group of girls Kurt didn’t recognise, walked into the choir room and stood in front of the piano, all of them grinning slyly.
“Blaine, baby, Sebastian and Marc are waiting for you in the Auditorium, and we need to talk to Kurt...” Santana said.
Blaine had literally just finished playing the song when they had walked in, he and Kurt hadn’t even spoken yet, everything was just up in the air. He placed the guitar on the step next to him and glanced uneasily at Kurt before slipping silently out of the room, his hand ruffling his hair as he did so. He was so fucking lost.
A blonde cheerleader shut the door behind him, and Santana walked forward a couple of steps before announcing:
“Kurt Hummel. This is Brittany” She pointed to each girl as she went down the line. “Quinn, Tina, Mercedes, Lauren, Sugar, and you know Rachel.”
“Right...” Kurt moved up a step and folded his arms.
“Word from your friends is that you’re a walking STI.” Kurt scoffed but Santana just smiled sarcastically.
“They also said that you’re in love with Blaine.” The one who Kurt thinks was called Tina...or Tanya...said.
“I just heard you’re rich.” A short brunette girl with a fluffy pink jacket added.
“Our point is,” Rachel said, glaring slightly at Sugar before turning back to Kurt. “You can say you’re in love with Blaine, you can come here and sing flirty duets with him, but we all know no one loves you more than you do.”
“This is a fucking joke.” Kurt laughed cockily as he stood up.
“Go.” Santana mumbled to Mercedes, who hit play on the stereo. Santana laughed as they all started singing and walking mockingly towards him, she hung back.
I wanna see your peacock, cock, cock
Your peacock, cock
Your peacock, cock, cock
Your peacock
Santana stepped forward and squared up to Kurt, her eyes glistening.
Santana:
Word on the street, you got something to show me, me
Magical, colourful, Mr. Mystery,
I’m intrigued for a peek, heard it’s fascinating
Sugar and Brittany:
Come on baby let me see
Whatchu hiding underneath
Kurt walked a few steps backwards away from her but two of the girls grabbed his arms and dragged him forward to sit down in a chair in the middle of the room.
Santana:
What’s up your sleeve?
Such a tease
Wanna see the show
In 3D, a movie
Heard it’s beautiful
Be the judge and my girls gonna take a vote
Sugar and Brittany:
Come on baby let me see
Whatchu hiding underneath
All of the girls circled him, he crossed his legs stubbornly but Santana ran her hand up his thigh teasingly, and within a second, they were all stroking him tauntingly, his arms, his chest, his legs, one girl even ran her fingers through his hair.
Rachel:
I want the jaw dropping, eye popping, head turning, body shocking
I want my heart throbbing, ground shaking, show stopping, amazing
All apart from Santana:
Are you brave enough to let me see your peacock?
Don’t be a chicken boy, stop acting like a biatch
Imma peace out if you don’t give me the pay off
Come on baby let me see
Whatchu hiding underneath
Santana laughed and nodded, everyone took a few steps away from Kurt, but then Santana stood in front of him and dropped into a squatting position, her hands on his knees, she grinned mischievously at him and then stood back up, turned back to the girls and held her hands up, a false shocked expression on her face.
Santana:
Oh my god, no exaggeration
Boy all this time was worth the waiting
The other girls, all in turn, walked up to Kurt and ran their fingers along his thigh or down his chest, and then walked over to Santana.
Tina:
I just shed a tear
Quinn:
I am so unprepared
Mercedes:
You got the finest architecture
Sugar:
End of the rainbow looking treasure
Brittany:
Such a sight to see
Rachel:
And it’s all for me
They all turned around, smiling cockily at him and they surrounded him again.
Are you brave enough to let me see your peacock?
Don’t be a chicken boy, stop acting like a biatch
Imma peace out if you don’t give me the pay off
Come on baby let me see
Whatchu hiding underneath
The song came to a close, and Rachel moved to stop the stereo. Kurt let out a breath and shook his head.
“That was pathetic.” He scoffed.
“You’re pathetic.” Rachel fought.
“Look, Hummel.” Santana interjected, her hand coming up to silence Rachel. “Blaine is my best friend and if you love him, then fine, tell him, but don’t go around fucking every guy from that stupid strip club you own.” He looked confused so she elaborated. “Sebastian told me. Also, giving Blaine crap for once giving a few guys lap dances; when you own a whole strip club...you’re deluded. Now run along, we’re done here.”
Kurt stood and took a step towards Santana. His voice was quite quiet but he narrowed his eyes.
“Mine and Blaine’s business is nothing to do with you. It wouldn’t matter if Blaine is your best friend, your brother or your worst enemy; Blaine means more to me than any of this shit that you think I love.”
Santana glanced above Kurt’s shoulder but then back to him.
“And you love Blaine?” A grin tugged at her lips.
Kurt swallowed thickly and blinked hard. “Yeah. Yeah, I do.” He admitted softly.
“You do huh?” She asked teasingly.
“Finally” A voice from behind Kurt breathed. He turned around instantly and saw Sebastian leaning against the door frame, Blaine and Marc stood a bit behind him.
“You do?” Blaine asked quietly, taking a step around Sebastian.
“Blaine.” Kurt whispered.
Blaine glanced at Santana who smiled sweetly at him, and then he turned back to Kurt, arms folded and stood in the centre of the room flagged by all of the Glee girls.
“What are you even doing here?” Blaine asked quietly, stepping further into the room. Sebastian and Marc stepped forward a little too, their hands finding each others.
“I-We” he corrected himself immediately. “Came to see you.” Blaine didn’t say anything, so Kurt continued. “Uh, Nick and Jeff are here too...they’re staying with Nick’s grandparents.”
“Okay.” Blaine said, folding his arms too.
“Oh my god, Anderson.” Santana mocked.
Blaine scowled at her, and then turned back to Kurt, but Kurt was the one to speak up.
“Can we take this...somewhere more private?”
“Sure.” Blaine agreed, turning to walk out of the room past Sebastian and Marc.
Sebastian gripped Kurt’s wrist firmly as he passed him. “Tell him.” He whispered through gritted teeth, before letting up on Kurt’s arm.
Our little New Kid doesn't seem to pleased with his visitors...
*
Kurt followed Blaine sheepishly down the corridor, before Blaine walked into the auditorium and took a seat in one of the aisles. Kurt sat two seats down, pulling his legs up under him. Blaine pulled his sleeves over his hands and began fiddling with the stray cotton.
“Why are you really here?” Blaine finally said, looking up through his eyelashes at Kurt.
“Sebastian-” he started and Blaine choked out a cold laugh.
“Of course. Sebastian.”
Kurt glared but continued anyway. “Said that I should come and tell you the truth.”
“Which is?” he encouraged.
Kurt licked his lips shakily. “I want to be with you, Blaine.”
“It’d never work out.” Blaine shrugged. “Long distance doesn’t work.”
“It does if you try.” Kurt countered, sounding a lot braver than he felt.
“It wouldn’t work with you.” Blaine said finally. “You have three hickeys on your neck and by the sounds of things your clubs going pretty well for you. I’ve been gone two weeks, Kurt.” He was rambling now, his watery eyes looking up into Kurt’s hazy ones. “Two weeks. Do you know how that makes me feel? How it makes you look?”
Kurt pulled up his shirt a bit more to cover his neck. He didn’t answer though; he wanted Blaine to get it all out.
“What’s worse is that you know how I’ve been.” He continued, Kurt raised his eyebrows and Blaine’s voice got louder, angrier. “Don’t look at me like that! Santana and Aaron both told me you’ve been texting them to find out about me. I know what they told you, but you just continue to fuck around like I mean absolutely nothing to you, Kurt. T-Then-and then you come here, and you try to tell me you want to be with me?! After everything you’ve done, you think that I’d still want to be with you.”
Kurt let his legs drop to the floor.
Fuck.
He wasn’t expecting that.
“Just, go back to Dalton, Kurt.” Blaine waved his hand towards the door. “And tell Nick he was right.” He added in spite. It was a cheap shot, he knew that Kurt would know what he was talking about.
Kurt stood up and walked down to the bottom level of the seats. He turned just before the door.
“I never loved him, you know.” He said softly.
“I don’t care, Kurt. I don’t give a damn about any of these guys you may or may not have loved.”
“I don’t know what you want from me.” Kurt threw his arms up in defeat.
“I want the truth.” Blaine demanded, as Kurt walked back up the stairs to sit a row in front of Blaine. “I want to know why you’re here, what changed since I left. Why am I suddenly worth all this effort?”
“I told you why I’m here.” Kurt said sheepishly.
“Why did you sing that song with me?” Blaine changed the subject accusingly.
Kurt picked at the side of the chair, his torso pressed into the back of the chair as he crouched onto it backwards so he could face Blaine. He didn’t answer.
Blaine breathed heavily a few times, calming himself down. Finally, he spoke in a smoother quieter voice.
“What changed?”
“Nothing changed.” Kurt replied.
“Then why-” Blaine started, but Kurt cut him off.
“Nothing changed, Blaine. Nothing. Everything went back to how it was before. Before you showed up. I hate it. You were right, and as much as I hate to admit it, you were. You were right about everything.” He sucked in a breath. “You changed me, into someone I want to be proud of being. Someone who I wasn’t afraid to be. With you around...” he shrugged simply. “Everything was better.”
Blaine sat silently.
“And then you left, and I didn’t really know what to do. So...I did what I know best.”
“The more you brag about sleeping around the less entertaining it becomes.” Blaine said blankly.
“I’m not bragging.” Kurt defended effortlessly. “I just missed you.”
“Do you think it was easy for me, being here?”
“Not by the looks of things.” He muttered.
“What’s that meant to mean?”
“You’re wearing my hoodie.” Kurt finally said, his eyes raking along Blaine’s chest up to his eyes. “I know it’s mine because you never got one, and I never wore mine. It was in my closet before you left, and then afterwards...magically disappeared.” Blaine didn’t say anything, his hands linked together in the front stomach pocket of his sweater and he shuffled more comfortably in his seat. “You let your hair grow out a bit.” Kurt added with a small smile.
Blaine laughed under his breath. “Again with the hair.”
Kurt shrugged. “It’s cute.”
“So you’ve said.”
“I like my hoodie on you.”
“It’s warm.”
“You look hot. It’s cool, keep it.”
“I will.” Blaine smiled. They were both silent for a moment. “How long are you here?”
“Two nights.” Kurt said softly. “We’re staying at yours...Smythe spoke to your mom apparently.”
“She never said anything.” Blaine accused.
“I sort of figured...”
“My mom’s away this weekend.” Blaine added. “It’s just me and Luce.”
“Your sister?” Kurt asked.
“Yeah. She uh, she moved here after I did. She missed her friends and her and our dad don’t exactly see eye to eye, especially without me there.”
“Home in time for Christmas.” Kurt smiled.
“Yeah, I guess so.” Blaine smiled back at him. “Next week... right?”
“9 days.” Kurt grinned.
“You seem excited.”
“I love Christmas.” Kurt admitted. “It’s my favourite time of year.”
“What do you do? Like traditions.” Blaine asked, shuffling to sit more comfortably in his chair as Kurt grinned thoughtfully.
“My mom and dad always come home on Christmas Eve unless they’re already here, and we put up and dress the tree at their house. If they’re already home then we’ll do it a bit earlier, but it’s usually Christmas Eve. I will make the gingerbread house and my dad will pile all the presents under the tree and my mom calls Finn for a while. Then we all sit down and watch a movie. Nothing particularly Christmassy but something we all enjoy. We make hot chocolate and then after the movie we’ll talk and open a present each until we go to bed.” Kurt let Blaine soak it all up, wishing he could memorise the way that Blaine looked at him in that moment.
“And that’s just Christmas Eve?” Blaine asked a few moments later.
“Yeah. Christmas day we don’t really have a tradition. Sometimes they have to get back to work and they leave first thing...but we always have Christmas Eve.”
“That’s really sweet, Kurt.”
“What about you? What’s your Christmas tradition?” He asked, curling up into the chair and resting his chin on the back of it to look at Blaine more intently.
Blaine thought for a second before answering. “I-I dunno really. We’re not very into Christmas in my family. My dad...he never really saw the huge point in it, it was just the way we were brought up. Me and Luce will exchange a present each at midnight and then we just open the rest in the morning. We don’t even have Christmas dinner that often...maybe three times in my life I’ve had it. It’s just not a big deal.” Blaine shrugged it off.
“Oh Blaine. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologise. What’s big in your family...just isn’t in mine. It’s not a big deal.” He repeated.
“Hmm. Okay.” Kurt said, pressing his lips together in a tight line. “So your mom’s not home now?”
“Nope. Left this morning.”
“Can we...go talk at your house then? We sent our suitcases to your address and...I have a couple of things I need to sort out.”
“Yeah sure.” Blaine agreed, standing up slowly and heading towards the stairs.
“Blaine,” Kurt said quietly from where he was rising from his own seat. Blaine turned to face him at the end of the row of chairs.
“Yeah?”
“Why is it so easy for us to slip into this? Into this comfortable thing we have, when 10 minutes ago you told me to go back to the city?”
Blaine sighed. “Just come on.” He walked out of the room, Kurt followed.
When Blaine turned right instead back towards the choir room, Kurt stopped.
“Aren’t we...going to get them?” He pointed weakly towards the empty hallway.
“No.” He replied bluntly. “Santana can bring them later if she wants...I was having a few people over anyway tonight.”
“You’re really having another party? After last time?” Kurt chuckled walking up towards Blaine and out of the entrance.
“It’s not a party. Just a couple of people over for pizza and a movie...and besides, my mom doesn’t care. It’s my dad who did, my mom thought the party we had in the City sounded like fun and she wished she never missed it.”
“She sounds awesome.”
“She’s pretty cool.”
“Then why did you live with your dad?” Kurt asked as they climbed into Blaine’s car and headed out of the parking lot.
“Um, I stayed with him because something...happened here and I didn’t exactly want to stick around for the aftermath of it, and moving to New York is just something that was always on my Bucket List, so me and Lucy stayed with him and moved.”
“Are you gonna tell me what happened or just continue to be vague?” Kurt smiled.
“Maybe some other time.” Blaine shrugged and pulled onto another main road.
They talked comfortably for the rest of the ride to Blaine’s house, Kurt having to answer a phone call from Sebastian once he’d noticed they’d gone. Kurt told him that they were heading back to Blaine’s and to catch a ride off of Santana.
They pulled into Blaine’s drive, and Kurt attentively took in his surroundings, how the flowerbeds outside of the front of the house were perfectly arranged and sorted into each type of flower and colours and each bit of soil was covered in deep brown bark to give a more natural look to the display. Kurt smiled at how much effort must have gone into it, and climbed out the car to follow Blaine to the front door. He pushed it open and walked in ahead of Kurt, noticing the 3 suitcases in the hallway and a note on the top of the first one. Blaine picked it up and read it carefully.
B,
Gone to Stacey’s.
Be back tomorrow or Sunday...I’ll text you in the morning okay?

“Looks like Lucy’s gone to her friends.” Blaine announced, tossing the paper onto the kitchen counter as he walked in there and shrugged off his jacket to hang on the back of the chair. “Want a drink or anything?”
“No, no I’m good.” Kurt replied politely, finding his way to the living room. Blaine walked in a few moments later and hesitated at the doorway.
“Wanna leave your suitcases in my room? Just so they’re not in the way later...” Blaine asked, picking up two of them by the handles.
“Yeah sure,” Kurt answered, walking away from the patio doors and back towards the hallway to collect his.
“Just down here.” Blaine said, kicking a door leading down to the basement.
“Your bedroom is the basement?” Kurt asked, following down the stairs carefully.
“Yeah...it’s more soundproof than the rest of the house...my mom moved me down here when I started high school so I could do whatever I wanted without pissing off my dad.” He placed the suitcases to the side of the room, and Kurt followed to put his down next to them.
They both stood awkwardly for a moment before Kurt moved over to Blaine and ran his fingertip along the hem of the pocket on his hoodie.
“It really does look good on you.” Kurt whispered as if it was a secret. Blaine looked up at him through his eyelashes where his gaze dropped to Kurt’s fingertip now resting on his stomach.
Blaine bought his hand up Kurt’s arm, fingers stroking the fabric of his sweater until it reached his shoulder, and Blaine’s fingertips dug slightly into the skin as he tugged Kurt just a tiny bit closer. Kurt’s hand moved around Blaine’s waist, his other mirroring the movement to hold Blaine close to him. Their noses brushed slowly together as they moved and Blaine laughed under his breath as it ghosted across Kurt’s face.
Kurt leant forward and pressed his lips against Blaine’s softly, pulling back immediately and resting his forehead against the other boys. Kurt swallowed.
“I love you.” He whispered. “I love you so much.”
Blaine’s eyes slipped shut and he let out a shaky breath.
“Why are you telling me?” he asked quietly.
“I know you wanted to tell me before you left.” Kurt continued, ignoring Blaine’s question. “And I stopped you because I was too...too scared to hear anything with you leaving.” He sucked in a breath and Blaine took Kurt’s hand in his own as he waited for Kurt to talk. “But earlier...in your auditorium, when you said about, about me and the other guys back home...and how it made you feel...I dunno.” He shrugged. “I just never really thought that it’d affect you. I just did it because I was lonely and I just really missed you. I missed you, Blaine. I missed you every single day and that terrifies me, I’ve never felt like this before and I don’t give a damn about how much of a clich that is because I don’t want to have to sit here and watch you move on with your life without me, I don’t want to just be a guy you slept with once and had some kind of weird love hate relationship with for 4 months until you just moved away.” Kurt smiled. “I want to be the guy you want to be with, I want to be the guy that you call up when you’re sad, or happy, or excited to just need someone to talk to because Santana stole your favourite sweater or because Lucy won’t let you watch her DVDs. I want to be the guy to know about your family and to be able to hold you, and comfort you, and keep you safe and protect you and just be with you. I want to be yours, Blaine. I want to be your everything.” He finished slowly, looking down at his fingers entwined with Blaine’s between their laps.
“Well.” Blaine started, laughing. Kurt laughed too, nervous laughter. “I guess I love you too then,” he teased, squeezing Kurt’s hand softly.
“Blaine...” Kurt whined as he leant forward and kissed him sweetly.
Kurt smiled into the kiss, their lips moving together for a few moments before they both pulled away.
“I love you, Kurt Hummel.” Blaine repeated. “I love you so much it’s killing me.”
We just love a happy ending...the only problem is, it's not quite the end of this story yet. Our Prince has to return to his Kingdom sooner or later, and he's never going to be able to escape his past.
Comments
Oh, god this chapter. So many emotions, gah. So, so happy Kurt told Blaine how he feels. This is just so perfect.
It's about time, huh? :) I'm pretty excited about the next couple of things coming up...Kurt's definitely planning something very romantic! :D
