“Are you okay?” Kurt breathed. Blaine nodded and blinked his eyes, Kurt noticed he was trying to get rid of the tears building up, and squeezed his hand in reassurance.
“Please continue.” an officer insisted.
Blaine sucked in a breath and then shut his eyes. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, what was the question?” he asked, confused.
The officer took a seat opposite him across the table in an identical chair. He looked on sympathetically.
“How long has this been going on, Mr. Anderson?”
Blaine thought for a moment. “I-I got the job in February and then he was nice to me until-”
“When was the first time anything like this happened?” the officer asked. He wasn’t being rude or impatient, he simply didn’t want Blaine to have to talk about it too much – he greatly understood the intensity of the topic.
“March”
“March. Right. So that’s 11 months ago now,” he said, noting something down onto the paper on his clipboard.
Blaine nodded and dropped his head, eyes locking Kurt’s almost accidentally, as if he’d forgotten where Kurt’s gaze would be. Kurt kept Blaine’s hand tight in his own, both hands gripping it tight. Blaine appreciated the pressure, it helped him remember that Kurt was right there and he wasn’t going anywhere. Not now.
“Was this the first time he’d drugged you, Mr Anderson?”
Blaine looked up and shook his head. “No. No, there were, there were other times.” he said sadly.
“Can you tell us about them?” the officer asked respectfully.
Blaine nodded and sucked in a deep breath. The officer looked on expectantly, and Kurt shifted to rest the side of his face on Blaine’s thigh. Blaine let his free hand stroke Kurt’s hair softly as he spoke. He felt more relaxed.
“In June or-or July. I don’t remember…but I tried to fight back. It had gone on for so long and I felt used and I just had to fight, just to see what would happen. If I could win. But when I did, he held me down and-and” Blaine shut his eyes tight. “And he forced a pill into my mouth and then made me drink vodka to wash it down-and I just remember feeling numb. So numb.”
Blaine opened his eyes to see Kurt’s eyes shut but his cheeks were a little damp, and Blaine could feel his fingers trembling as he tried to keep a strong hold on Blaine’s hand.
The officer nodded and muttered “mm” every now and then.
“And can you tell us what would happen afterwards?” The officer requested.
Blaine hesitated. “He would-He-I-He would lay me in the back of his car and drive me home.” Blaine looked down to meet Kurt’s glassy eyes. “He would make me take another two or three shots before I came inside and he’d tell me to keep it a secret because-” he paused for a long time.
“Mr Anderson?” The officer asked, carefully.
Blaine sniffed, refusing to cry. “He told me if I told Kurt,” he nodded towards the man on his knees. “He would kill him.”
“Thank you, Mr Anderson. I think we have everything we need. I can assure you that you’re perfectly safe now. We will get back to you with further details.”
Blaine nodded and muttered thanks, and Kurt stood up and let the officers out. Closing and locking the door behind them before he made his way back to Blaine. Kurt sat in the chair the officer recently vacated.
“C’mere.” Kurt said softly. Blaine stood and walked over, sitting himself in Kurt’s lap. Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine’s waist and pressed a kiss to his temple.
Blaine rest his head on Kurt’s shoulder and wrapped his arms around Kurt’s neck.
“You’re so brave. I’m so proud of you.” Kurt whispered.
“Can we go lie down?” Blaine breathed.
Kurt nodded and helped Blaine up, taking his hand and walking them both to the bedroom. Kurt got under the covers first and Blaine cuddled up next to him, head resting on Kurt’s chest whilst Kurt’s fingertips ran absent-mindedly through his hair.
“I’m sorry” Kurt said.
“I know” Blaine replied. “I forgive you.”
Kurt kissed Blaine’s hair.
“I didn’t expect you too.” Kurt admitted.
“I love you. I’ll always forgive you.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t believe you” Kurt said softly. “I just I…I didn’t know what to believe.”
Blaine tightened an arm around Kurt’s waist. “I know. I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you.”
Kurt kissed his hair again. “I’m sorry you had to go through everything alone.” he paused. “I should have been here for you.”
“You were.” Blaine breathed his voice barely audible. “You were here whenever I came home. You made sure I was safe.”
Kurt moved to kiss his head again, but Blaine titled his
head up, meeting Kurt’s lips with his own. It’d been the first time they’d kissed for such a long time. It must have been months. Kurt wrapped his hand that had been playing with Blaine’s hair, around his neck, pulling Blaine closer to him and Blaine pulled himself up, so that his head was directly opposite Kurt’s on the same pillow. The angle was so much better and Blaine sucked gently on Kurt’s bottom lip when they pulled away.
“I love you so much.” Blaine whispered.
“Me too, you’re perfect to me.” Kurt assured.
