Wednesday rolled around pretty fast and Blaine found everything becoming more and more difficult. He felt himself growing bored with everything. The walls around him were becoming as tiring as the hospitals were and the company was extremely repetitive. He found himself snapping at people and then apologising over and over at what an asshole he was being. Everyone understood greatly, they didn’t take it personally.
“We need to find Kurt.” Rachel whispered one day to Finn in the hallway.
“I just don’t know where he’d be.” Finn replied.
“Me neither. Have you spoken to Burt again?”
“He phoned last night, asking if Kurt had been home.”
Rachel frowned, she was extremely worried but they all knew how stubborn Kurt could be.
They sat down for dinner soon after that, Blaine was happy because it was the one time of the day which Rachel allowed him to sit somewhere other than under that damn blanket. They sat around the table, just Finn Rachel and Blaine –Nathan had gone to see his family for a few days because he felt that he’d been neglecting them a little bit. They ate all their food and made a little small talk, but then within an hour Rachel had escorted Blaine back to his spot on the sofa and cuddled him up with a new blanket because she insisted on washing the other one.
Blaine heard a car door slam outside and after a few minutes, the door clicked open.
“Hello?”
Kurt.
“Kurt!” Rachel’s voice rang out.
“Hey Rachel...Finn.” Kurt replied, his voiced laced with confusion. “What’s going on?”
“Where have you been Kurt?!”
“Uh. I’ve been away for a couple of weeks. What-Wait Rachel, why are you crying?” He said.
“Dude, I think you should go see Blaine. He’s on the sofa.” Blaine heard Finn reply.
Blaine turned his head and saw Kurt walk in, eyebrows burrowed in confusion as he saw Blaine underneath a blanket. Kurt’s breath caught in his throat, he knew something was wrong.
He walked straight over and knelt on the floor next to Blaine. He took his hand softly in his own and his fingertips ran over the deep purple bruises on his wrist.
“What happened?” he whispered.
Blaine smiled a sad smile and tears ran silently down his cheek.
“Baby,” Kurt whimpered. “What happened?” he repeated.
“I’m sorry,” Blaine choked.
Kurt looked up and nodded to Rachel who pointed to the door to signal they were leaving. The door clicked and
Kurt looked back up to Blaine through his eye lashes. His heart breaking at the sight of the man in front of him.
“Why are you sorry?” Kurt whispered, his fingertips brushing through Blaine’s hair.
“I needed you.” Blaine sobbed, unable to answer Kurt’s questions. “I needed you and you were gone.”
Tears threatened Kurt’s eyes. “I’m so sorry. I’m here now.”
“I was in the hospital.” Blaine said eventually.
Kurt’s breath hitched but he waited for Blaine to continue.
“My boss, he-”
“Tony?” Kurt questioned. He’d met Tony a few times; he seemed like a nice man.
Kurt noticed the way Blaine cowered further into the sofa at the mention of his name.
“Yeah. He, I...-He” Blaine stuttered.
Kurt ran his hand up and down Blaine’s arm, fingertips softly running over the bruises when he reached them.
Kurt wiggled on his knees, getting more comfortable. He pressed his lips to the marks on Blaine’s wrists.
“What are these?” He asked softly.
“He hurt me.” Blaine confessed. Kurt’s heart dropped, he’d never seen Blaine like this, ever. He cupped Blaine’s cheek with his hand and Blaine nuzzled into the touch.
“Tell me what happened.” Kurt pressed, he wanted Blaine to talk to him.
Tears rolled down Blaine’s cheek prominently and he licked his lips.
“I-I went to work...and the door it was locked. So I went-I went downstairs to my-my-”
“Locker?” Kurt finished, seeing him struggling was breaking his heart so badly.
Blaine nodded, shutting his eyes, not being able to look at Kurt.
“Locker, and I went to pick up the keys-but-he was there and he was near me and I ran and I got upstairs and the lights and-” Blaine was sobbing now, and Kurt found it hard to follow to story so he pressed a kiss to Blaine’s forehead and wiped his tears away, hushing him with small kisses to his face and constant whispers of “I love you,
I’m here, it’s fine.”
Kurt held Blaine as he cried, he held him until Blaine was falling asleep in his arms, and he lowered his head onto the pillow, pulled the blanket up over him and then walked out into the kitchen.
He took out his phone and switched it on, ignoring all of his missed calls and messages, he dialled Rachel’s number.
She picked up instantly.
“Kurt?”
“Rach, I need you to tell me what happened.” He said, trying to hide his tears.
“Kurt...I think Blaine should.”
“He can’t. I’ve just held him why he cried about it for 45 minutes and now he’s asleep and I still don’t know why
I’ve come home to find my boyfriend fresh out of the
hospital, broken and bruised.”
“Okay, I’ll tell you.”
“Thank you.” he breathed.
“Blaine’s boss tried to rape him.”
Kurt’s jaw dropped and he felt sick, he felt like a bus had hit him and he needed to sit down, he needed to get out and get air. But he didn’t. He held the phone to his ear and swallowed deeply as Rachel continued.
“But Nathan stopped him. He hit him with a chair apparently, but you’ll have to ask him about that bit because I didn’t hear that bit properly. But I know his boss forced him to drink vodka...but it was spiked apparently, he was drugging him and Nathan said Blaine was crying and whispering your name,” Rachel said quietly, fighting back tears herself.
“But I don’t think this was the first time, Kurt.” Rachel confessed. “Blaine said he was terrified before he’d even laid a hand on him.”
“What did he tell you at your party?” Kurt asked, ignoring the tears wetting his cheeks.
Rachel gulped. “He said his boss was harassing him a little bit, but Kurt I honestly had no idea it was this bad. I didn’t, I thought he’d come to you if it got bad but you said he was drinking and I don’t think he was, I think it was all of this. He’s not a huge drinker, he never was. His boss was forcing it upon him so he wouldn’t tell or remember, Kurt I’m so sorry.” Rachel cried, gushing out the words.
“Thank you Rachel.” Kurt said blankly.
“Love you,” she replied, and then she hung up the phone.
Kurt stood in the kitchen, fresh tears constantly falling and then his knees became shaky as his body wrecked with sobs. He fell to the floor and curled into himself, knees pulled tightly into his chest. He noticed Blaine stood in the doorway but couldn’t bring himself to look up. Blaine had the blanket draped over his shoulder and he walked over to Kurt, wrapping his arms and then blanket around him.
“I’m sorry, Kurt.” he whispered, pressing a kiss to Kurt’s hair. “I couldn’t, I couldn’t tell you.”
Kurt didn’t reply, his sobs felt like he was going to stop breathing and he let himself fall completely into Blaine.
Kurt cried until he literally couldn’t anymore. He sat up, leaning off of Blaine a bit more.
“You didn’t tell me.” He said.
Blaine dropped his head to Kurt’s shoulder. “I was so scared” Blaine admitted.
“You let me believe you were cheating on me.” Kurt said blankly. Blaine lifted his head, shocked.
“Kurt I couldn’t deal with it all, I was so-”
“Scared.” Kurt finished. “Yeah. Me too. I thought I was going to lose you.”
Blaine tightened his grip around Kurt’s waist. “I’m so sorry.”
“Me too.” Kurt whispered, and then he stood up, prying Blaine’s arms from around him and left the room.
