The first thing Kurt noticed was how warm his bed was…and how squishy it was.

Wait, bed?

The last thing he could remember was watching a DVD with the other boys in his dorm.

He opened his eyes slowly. Trying not to move and alert anyone he was awake. Taking in the dimly lit room noticing all the other boys were still asleep and he was…lying on Blaine shoulder. Well, this could only go downhill. Kurt quickly got up being careful not to wake anyone and walked to the kitchen. Grabbing a Sharpie that was left on the table and his quilt dragging behind him on the floor. He poured himself a cup of coffee and an extra one. Set the spare cup in the middle of the counter and wrote a note on a scrap of paper.

'This coffee is for Blaine. Thanks – Kurt'

With that done off he went to get ready for class.

------------------------------

Walking down the corridor for his first lesson of the day Kurt noticed people looking at him. Just the odd one here and there but they weren't leering at him like he was used to. They were smiling.

When he sat down at the back of the classroom, ready for his Maths lesson, another person sat next to him but he didn't look up from unpacking his stuff.

"Hey Kurt. I was wondering if you wanted to join the Warblers." The voice made him jump.

"Wes! Leave him alone!" Another boy marched up to Kurts desk and pulled Wes out of his chair by his blazer. "Blaine said to stop asking him. Now, go sit in your normal seat." The boy pushed Wes off in the direction of another desk.

"Hi! My name's Trent." The boy said cheerily.

"Umm…Hi." Kurt replied quickly.

He couldn't understand why someone was talking to him. First Blaine now Trent and of course Wes asking him to join whatever the Warblers were. Maybe this school wouldn't be so bad? Kurt stopped himself right there. Don't get your hopes up. They just fall through. Every time.

He turned his attention back to the book in front of him continuing some Maths problems he didn't finish last lesson.

Throughout the lesson Trent kept trying to engage him in conversation but eventually gave up and just talked to him.

Kurt was never more relieved to get out of a lesson and away from the attention. He quickly made his way to his English lesson. Instead of Trent talking to him it was now Nick.

What is with these boys? When did he suddenly become visible? Before his freak out in the library no one noticed him and now suddenly he had boys trying to get him interested in every conversation going on. Why didn't they understand that he just wanted to be alone? He wanted to be safe.

Luckily his next period was a free lesson and then it would be lunch so he went to the library. Making his way to 'his' table and picking up Peter Pan on his way. The bonus of not interacting with people was that your homework was always done. Never needing to use his free lessons for studying it gave a lot of time to just relax. Just as he was disappearing into the world of Never-land the lunch bell went.

A small cough drew Kurt's attention away from his book.

"Hi Kurt."

Kurt looked up and found Blaine standing nervously in front of him.

"Can I sit with you?" Blaine asked.

Kurt just stared at him. Why would Blaine want to sit with him? He had friends and Kurt defiantly wasn't his friend.

"I can go if you want? I shouldn't have come. I'll just-I'll just go. Yeah, I'll go."

"No." His mouth seemed to work on its own. "You can sit if you want." His own voice just above a whisper.

Blaine sat down on the other side of the table while Kurt went back to reading.

"What are you reading?" Blaine tried to look at the cover of the book but it was hidden by Kurt's knees.

Kurt held the book up so he could see.

"Oh cool. I always liked Peter Pan. I found the idea of never growing up silly as a child but that option is looking nicer and nicer as I get older."

A small giggle escaped Kurt. It shocked both Blaine and the person it came from. The giggle seemed to spur the other boy on.

"Plus Tinkerbell was always really awesome. She saved Peter and Wendy wouldn't have been able to fly if it wasn't for her. I suppose she was kind of jealous but everyone gets jealous now and again."

Blaine was funny when he rambled. Kurt found himself smiling at the other boy. He couldn't help it, he was kind of endearing.

The rest of lunch continued like this way, Blaine rambling and making Kurt smile until the lunch bell sounded.

"Will you be here after lessons end?" Blaine asked Kurt as they were packing their bags.

"Probably. I don't have anything else to do."

"Why don't you come to the Warblers meeting?" Blaine suggested.

"The what?" Kurt looked up at Blaine in confusion.

"It's Dalton's glee club, the Dalton Academy Warblers; we have meetings every day after school while in competition season. You could come and watch…or listen?"

"Not umm…today. Thank you though."

And with that Kurt was gone.

------------------------------

The rest of Kurt's week carried on in a similar fashion.

He was greeted in the halls and his classes. People tried to talk to him and make him smile. Kurt couldn't work it out. From coming from a school filled to the brim with bullies judging him and making his life hell he was now in a school where everyone was nice. It was really weird.

The same would happen in the library as well. Blaine would sit with him and just talk. He didn't mind that Kurt didn't always answer him back and just continued to talk. At the end of every lunch Blaine would ask Kurt if he wanted to come and sit in on a Warblers meeting and every time so far Kurt had denied. When Friday came Blaine had finally convinced him.

He was given instructions to wait inside his dorm room after final bell and Blaine would pick him up.

So at around 4o'clock this is where Kurt found himself. Sitting on the end of his bed worrying and waiting for a knock on his door.

He was about to go into a room full of adolescents with no teacher that he knew of. That couldn't go wrong could it? He could always pretend to be sick. No. He was going to do this. He had to man up and face this. It was just people and Blaine would be there. Blaine would keep him safe. Right?

As he was getting further and further into situations that could arise a knock came from his door.

"Kurt? You in there?" Blaine's voice was muffled by the heavy door.

Taking deep breaths he walked towards the door and opened it.

"Are you ready for the Warblers?" Blaine asked shooting his biggest smile at Kurt.

He suddenly felt relaxed. Blaine's smile was reassuring and made him feel at ease.

"Are you sure I can watch?" Kurt asked raising his voice a bit more than he was used to.

"Of course! We usually let any student sit in. The novelty of it wears off about half way through the first semester. Now come on." The shorter boy grabbed his hand and started to walk off down the corridor.

As they were getting closer to the room the Warblers used Kurt could hear people already singing.

"Crazy how it happened so fast,

Truly blows my mind."

Kurt turned to Blaine who had a brilliant smile plastered across his face.

"Who's singing?"

"Jeff probably. He's a sucker for upbeat songs."

"Upside down off the ground, God I love you.

Upside down off the ground is what you do."

Kurt pushed the doors open to discover all the boys in the room laughing and clapping to Jeff singing. Kurt walked further into the room smiling at how all the boys were enjoying themselves and fuelling Jeff's excitement.

Kurt watched as Jeff danced around the room finally stopping in front of Nick. Getting down to his knees and grabbing Nick's hands.

"I'm loving every single thing you do,

I'm so in love with everything you do."

Nick leaned forward and pecked Jeff on the lips. Around the room sounds wolf whistles and chants for more. Kurt couldn't believe it. All the boys in the room were clapping and encouraging these boys to kiss.

"Dude, you got a problem?" A tall blonde haired boy was squaring up to him.

He must have been staring at Nick and Jeff. Crap.

"No. I umm…I-I-"

"If you have a problem with them or people like them keep that to yourself! We don't tolerate people like you." The tall boy was getting closer and closer.

"I-I don't have a-a prob-"Kurt couldn't stop stuttering and the blonde boy was just getting angrier.

"Jake leave him alone!" Blaine stood in front of Kurt trying to shield him from Jake.

Just breathe. Kurt kept telling himself. Blaine will keep you safe. What would happen if Blaine couldn't keep him safe though? And so Kurt ran.

The only problem was he still didn't know the halls of Dalton very well. He only knew how to get to his classes, to the library and back to his room and he didn't know which direction to go in.

He ran into a classroom, went straight to the back wall and slid down until he was on the floor. His knees drawn in close to his body. Trying to calm his breathing and his panicking heart. It wasn't working. He just started to get worse until he dissolved into tears. Burying his head into his knees and trying to make himself calm down. Only looking up when he heard the door open.

End Notes: The song that Jeff sings is Everything You Do by He Is We and it is a really cute song. You should listen to it.
