Carole buttoned the jacket of Kurt's black tuxedo.
"Oh my god, Kurt, I'm going to start crying and ruin my makeup," she said, biting her lip hard. Kurt smiled.
"Don't, you look amazing," he said softly. Carole laughed softly.
"I hope I do, your father kept me up all night. He was sobbing about the wedding and how he knew he should have seen it coming but didn't expect it to be so soon," she said, fastening Kurt's boutonniere to the lapel of his jacket. The boutonniere was made up of a blood red rose, surrounded by a translucent halo of thin, black lace. There was a simple black ribbon holding the rose to the lace. "Oh, Kurt," Carole whispered as she looked him over. He looked dashing in the plain, black tuxedo, tailored to fit him perfectly, with his hair perfectly coiffed. A chain dangled from the pocket of the jacket, his great grandfather's pocket watch nestled in the silk. The door opened to reveal Burt.
"Uhm, it's time, kid," he said, his eyes red.
"Ok, Dad," Kurt said before hugging Carole tightly once and walking over to join him out in the hall.
"Now, Kurt, I-I know you have something old, borrowed, and new, so I thought I'd give you this. Something blue," Burt said softly before reaching into his pocket and pulling out an old ring box. He opened it to reveal a simple ring, the thin platinum band shining and the square cut sapphire gleaming. "It was your mom's. She told me that she wanted me to give it to you, when something big happened. I didn't think your graduation was a big enough reason to give it to you, so I saved it."
"Dad," Kurt whispered, eyes shining.
"So, will you wear it?" Burt asked him. Kurt nodded, a tear running down his face.
"Of course I will," he said, looking up at his dad with wide eyes. Burt smiled, then took the ring out of the box and pressed it into Kurt's palm. Kurt immediately slipped the ring onto his right ring finger, then looked down at it. The dark blue stone glimmered against his pale skin, complementing his light complexion. "It's beautiful," he whispered. He threw his arms around his father's neck, hugging him tightly.
"Thank you, Dad, s-so much," he whispered. Burt smiled.
"You're welcome kid. Now, let's go get you married, ok?" he asked, pulling back. Kurt nodded, then Burt handed him the single red rose he was going to carry down the aisle and then they got into their place. Rachel smiled at Kurt when she got into place with Finn, leaning over to peck him on the cheek. Tina, Mercedes, Quinn, and Sugar did the same as they moved to get in their places as well, each offering encouraging words to the nervous groom. Then, the music began to play. Kurt felt his breathing speeding up slightly as his cue neared, and the song soon morphed into the song he and Blaine had chosen for this. He and Burt began to walk down the aisle, Burt's hand resting heavily on his shoulder to keep him in step with the music. Kurt lifted his eyes to where Blaine stood. Blaine smiled sweetly at him. He looked absolutely stunning in his tux, almost every aspect of his clothing matching Kurt's. His hair had barely any gel in it, leaving it slightly curly but not an afro, and tamed but not molded to his head in a hair helmet. Instead of having a pocket watch chain dangling from his pocket, Blaine had nothing. In his hand was a rose that matched Kurt's. His golden eyes shone with emotion as Kurt neared him. When Kurt had finally stepped onto the altar and Blaine had taken his hands, he could feel his heart swelling with happiness. Cerulean eyes met amber, and a smile graced Blaine's lips. His eyes were all but smoldering, the joy and happiness and love surrounding Kurt in a blanket of familiarity. They knew it was a good choice to write their own vows as soon as they began to say them to each other.
"Kurt, I know I often try to tell you how much you mean to me, but I know I'll never be able to get the words to come out right. I know how terribly cliched this sounds, but you mean everything to me. You're the sun, and the moon, and the stars, everything. You're the universe. Every time I look in your eyes, I can't help but feel like you can see every little weakness of mine. When you smile, it makes me feel light headed. I know that some people would say that it's foolish of us to be doing this, getting married so young, but I knew from the first time we kissed that I'd be spending the rest of my life with you. I told you that I realized how I felt about you when you sang Blackbird two years ago, but I never really told you that I've loved you since the first time I looked into your eyes, and heard your voice. The first time you sang in front of me, I wanted to take you in my arms and never, ever let you go. And now I don't have to. I can hold you any time that I want to, because you've decided that I'm actually worthy of being with you. And now, we have a daughter, we're getting married, we live in New York... I feel so lucky, I-I can't even believe how fortunate I am to have these things. I love you so much, and I'm so overjoyed that you chose me." By the end of his little monologue, Blaine looked and sounded like he wanted to cry and jump for joy at the same time. Kurt smiled and began to say his vows, voice clear and sharp.
"Blaine, I absolutely adore you. You've given me all these things that I'll never, ever be able to repay you for, your heart, your love, Elizabeth... There are so many things that I love about you also, and a few of them I can't say in front of our friends and family, but I'll name a few. Your curls, which you hate, but are so soft, and go perfectly with your personality, which, despite your best efforts to come off as polite and dapper, still is a combination of a small child, a puppy, and a teenage boy, your eyes, which are the same gorgeous gold as the ring that my dad gave my mom, your smile, that not only can light up a room but lights up your eyes as well and holds all the joy of a kid who was just told they were going to Disney World for a week, your voice, which is so beautiful not just when you sing but when we're talking softly, or when you're holding Elizabeth and saying these little things that you probably don't even you're saying, like how much you wish she could have met your grandma and how you can't wait to take her back to Lima again so that your mom can see her. I love how you do these little things just to make me happy, how you're protective of Elizabeth and me, how you're always singing and cooking and making me dance with you to cheesy love songs, and how you're just incredibly, undeniably you."
Blaine smiled, before, together, they said, "I promise to hold you when you cry, to smile with you, to laugh with you, to celebrate your successes, to stay with you, to be faithful to you, and to always sing for you. I promise that the song that is our love will never, ever end, but go on forever. I promise that I'll take care of you and allow you to take care of me if I need you to. I promise not to allow you to go to sleep angry. I promise to be yours, forever."
"Kurt Hummel, do you take Blaine Anderson to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do."
"Blaine Anderson, do you take Kurt Hummel to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do."
"I now pronounce you husband and husband," the preacher said, sounding a bit proud. Kurt smiled at Blaine.
"C'mere, you," he said, and Blaine smiled widely and kissed him as passionately as he could with their families watching. When they broke apart, Kurt took his hand and they walked back down the aisle together. Soon, they were outside and their families were bidding them goodbye. They got into the car, which had been borrowed from Wes due to the fact that the men lived in New York and didn't have the time or money to have a car. When they got to the reception, they were greeted by their friends and family throwing confetti at them. Kurt giggled and pulled Blaine in front of him to shield himself.
"Oh no you don't!" Blaine said, before turning and moving Kurt in front of him. Kurt laughed harder, then turned to Blaine.
"I love you," he said. Blaine smiled.
"I love you too," he replied pecking him on the lips. They went inside and Blaine immediately pulled Kurt on to the dance floor, wrapping his arms around the taller man's neck.
"May I have this dance?" he whispered in his ear.
"Of course," Kurt said softly, placing his hands on Blaine's hips. The song they'd chosen, Fields by Adam Lambert, began to play and they danced slowly, staring into each others' eyes. As the song drew to a close, their motions stilled and they pressed their lips together, the kiss tender and sweet and bringing tears to the eyes of onlookers. When they broke apart, Carole walked out onto the dance floor.
"May I cut in?" she asked Blaine with a smile.
"Of course, I can't monopolize this handsome devil, now can I?" he said, kissing Kurt on the cheek and making him laugh softly. He leaned over and kissed Blaine softly before Blaine walked off the dance floor, going over to his mom to take Elizabeth from her.
"Hey there, baby girl!" he said to his daughter, who cooed happily.
"Mama!" she squealed, and Blaine froze. "Mama, mama, mama!"
"Oh my god, she just said her first word!" he told Burt, who'd heard the little girl.
"That was her first word? Kurt's not gonna like that," Burt laughed. Blaine grinned at the little girl.
"You're such a mama's girl," he said, shifting her so she was on his hip. She gurgled happily, reaching up to grab Blaine's ear. Blaine gently pried her tiny fingers free of his earlobe, kissing her softly on the forehead. As the last chord of Mad World by Gary Jules played, Kurt and Carole stopped dancing. Carole got up on her tiptoes and kissed Kurt's cheek, making him smile, and he hugged her.
"I love you, Mom," he whispered. She pulled back, eyes wide and filling with tears.
"God, Kurt, you're really trying to make me cry, aren't you?" she asked.
"No," Kurt said, his own eyes glistening.
"Oh, sweetie," Carole said, hugging him again. He hugged her back, then they left the dance floor. Kurt walked over to Blaine.
"Here, give her to me," he said, reaching for Elizabeth. Blaine moved her into his arms and she giggled as Blaine kissed her on the cheek.
"Mama!" she said. Kurt gaped at Blaine.
"S-she just said 'mama'! She talked!" he said. Blaine smiled. "Wait, she said mama. Damn, I was hoping her first word would be 'dada'!" Blaine shrugged, then his mom grabbed his arm, tugging him gently toward the dance floor. Blaine turned and walked with her, then placed his hands on her hips. She smiled and rested her hands on his shoulders as the song he'd chosen began to play, a stripped down, acoustic version of Carrie Underwood's Mama's Song.
"Oh, Blaine, you're going to make me cry!" she whispered, her slight Italian accent thickening like it always did when she was about to cry. Blaine smiled.
"Mi dispiace, mamma," he said softly, pulling her a little closer. He could feel her small frame shaking with suppressed sobs as they danced slowly.
"I should not have let you choose the song, bambino," she said softly, her voice shaking. Blaine kissed her temple.
"I'm glad you did. It was fun," he said, smiling, though his own eyes were pricking with tears. By this time, most of the people watching were crying. Blaine caught Kurt's eyes and saw that he was smiling, tears running down his face. Blaine smiled at him, then turned and pressed a kiss to his mom's forehead. The song soon drew to a close, and Isabella moved out of Blaine's embrace, placing her hands on his cheeks.
"I love you, Blaine," she said. Blaine smiled.
"I love you too, mamma," he said softly. She smiled tearfully at him, then left the dance floor. Kurt walked over to Blaine, holding Elizabeth.
"Somebody wants to dance with her daddies," he said, gesturing to the little girl who was reaching for Blaine now.
"Aw, she does?" he said. Kurt smiled and moved closer to Blaine, holding Elizabeth so she was positioned between them. Blaine smiled and wrapped his arms around both of them, and they began to slowly dance with their daughter, who smiled and giggled the whole time. When the song ended, Blaine gently took Elizabeth and lifted her up, kissing her on the cheek.
"My beautiful little princess," he said softly, moving her into the cradle of his arms. She gurgled happily. The two men left the dance floor to sit down, Blaine still holding Elizabeth. Finn stood up.
"Uhm, I'd like to say something about these two awesome guys. Kurt, Blaine, you two are probably the most stable couple I've ever met. You've only really fought once, and you were able to overcome being apart for five months. You have a kid, and a whole life of love ahead of you two. Congrats, little bros," he said, smiling. Kurt smiled.
"Thanks, Finn," he said. Finn walked over and hugged him tightly, and Kurt smiled, hugging him back. The grooms cut the cake, being blinded by flashbulbs the whole time, then proceeded to be mushy and adorable like all couples should be during their wedding reception, Kurt playfully putting a dab on icing on Blaine's cheek and kissing it off. Blaine grinned, wrapping his arms around his new husband and kissing him softly.
"Guys, you need to go! Your plane leaves in two hours and you have to get to the airport!" Sugar said.
"Ugh," Kurt groaned, resting his forehead against Blaine's shoulder. "I forgot about that."
"You forgot about our honeymoon?" Blaine laughed.
"Yes. I was having fun just flirting with you," Kurt answered, pecking Blaine on the lips.
