Sun shining on glistening skin, a boy walked by the pool. White tank top and blue and black swimming shorts paraded to the last remaining lounge chair in the community pool in Lima, Ohio. He had put on extra hair gel today, so as to keep his curls in line when they hit the water. The teen sat down after laying down his towel and relaxed on his first day of summer vacation. Slapping on sunglasses and a coat of sunscreen, he picked up five bucks and walked to the snack shack ten feet away.
"Hi, um I have a membership here for discounts on the food?" He spoke leaning into the counter towards the air conditioning. A petite blonde answered back.
"Name?"
"Anderson. Blaine Anderson."
"Ah yes, here you are. What would you like?" She said with a flirty smile. "You can have anything you want, like, see..."
"Im flattered, but I dont play for your team. And Ill take a vanilla ice cream in a cone dipped in chocolate hardening." Blaine apologetically answered with that dashing white toothed smile. The cashiers face dropped and she nodded with a gulp, walking over to fill his order.
"Thatll be 2.95, please." He handed her the money and smiled as he took the first bite of his ice cream waiting for his change. Suddenly the blonde yelled, "YOURE LATE!"
A voice from behind replied with a hint of attitude, "I know, Shannon. I couldnt find my whistle. I clocked in just give me a smoothie and put it on my bill." The strangers hand reached over Blaine and took the already made cup, smacking him in the face as he pulled back. Blaines head snapped back and his ice cream tumbled to the ground, covering his feet in cold sugar and milk. He turned around to confront this rude person, but his scrunched up face relaxed when he saw a handsome guy, one or two years his senior with a shocked expression and a hand to his gaping mouth.
"Oh my god. I am so sorry! Let me buy you another one. Shannon!" He snapped his fingers as his once sassy tone became softer and more polite. Blaine detected a small smile on the strangers lips, but he shook it off as a figment of his imagination. "Im Kurt. Hummel. Im a lifeguard here."
Blaine snapped out of his daydreaming just in time to take this mans hand. "Im Blaine Anderson. I, uh, have a membership here." The two locked eyes for a few seconds until Shannon tapped his back and handed him his ice cream. Kurt rushed off to his post as Blaine stood there dazed at this beautiful strange daydream that just smacked hisself in his life.
"By the way, HE plays for your team." Shannon said with a smirk. Blaines smile grew and he walked away with his new ice cream. Sitting back down on his chair he searched the ground for this fluffy-haired angel-voiced lifeguard with the powerful arm. He was two pools down by the kiddie pool where toddlers and elementary school children splashed and frolicked while their parents left them to gossip.

Kurt sighed as he put his hand to his chin in a bored manner. *These kids are going to be the death of me.* he thought, leaning back into his lifeguard chair under the sweet cold of the umbrella shade. He put on is sunglasses as the sun shifted to reflect right from the water into his eyes. "Just my luck." He said aloud. Breezes spun through the surrounding trees and through his quiffed hair.
Suddenly Kurt felt a bit of sticky warmness touch his already boiling foot. He jumped and looked down, expecting to find a child or his boss yelling at him, but instead he found a gelled teen smiling up at him. "You again?" He scoffed while inside his heart was jumping.
"Um, yeah. Sorry to bother you but, I wanted to know when your shift was over." Blaine was slow as he talked, eager to impress but cautious enough to watch his tone.
"3:30, but I have a break from 1-1:45. Why?"
"Well, I was wondering if maybe youd like to hang out for a little while. If you want." Blaine sputtered out.
Kurts heart leapt mountains as color returned to his cheeks and a smile appeared on his face. "I-Id love to. Meet me at the snack shack at one and we can talk for a while."
Blaine nodded as his smile grew and he walked away with a wave. Kurt laughed to himself as he saw Blaine pull his fist to his chest whispering "yes." He returned to his post, eagerly awaiting his meeting with this stranger.
A few hours later Kurt threw a towel over his bare chest and red lifeguard shorts and happily walked to the Snack Shack a few pools over. He had a hop in his step as he swayed his hips, venturing to meet his new friend. *I hope he likes me,* Kurt thought, *Hes got such a sweet face.* As he arrived at his destination he felt a triple tap on his shoulder.

Blaine readied himself as he saw his crush coming his way. "You can do this, Anderson." He encouraged himself. Running a hand through his hair and licking his lips, he walked towards the boy with a determined glimmer in his eyes. When he arrived, he tapped Kurts shoulder three times before taking a step back to wait. Luckily, the boy turned around quickly and smiled.
"Well hello there, Blaine." Kurt chirped. He crossed his arms and rested on his back hip, his lips still curling at the edges.
"Hello, Kurt. Where would you like to sit? We could sit at a table or I could put a blanket down under a shady tree-" Blaine caught himself and slowed down. Taking a deep breath, he restarted. "What would you like to do?"
Laughing to himself at this cute boys rushing, he replied, "Lets sit at the table. If I put the umbrella up and push it to the side itll be shady." Blaine nodded and they walked over to an empty table. "Shannon! Bring over two smoothies, two burgers and fries, and some cookies and put it on my tab." He called over his shoulder as they sat down. They sat on opposite sides of the table, resting their arms so they were nearly touching. For a minute they sat there just looking at each others eyes until Kurt snapped them out of it.
"So, whyd you want to hang out?" He cocked his head slightly to the side, doing his best to look as cute as he could.
"I.. I uh... Shannon told me you were... You seemed really cool and anyone that can hit me that hard in the face seems like my kind of guy." Blaine smiled awkwardly, trying to salvage what he could for the next 39 minutes.
"What did she tell you?"
"Oh, its nothing."
"Cmon, tell me. If we are going to be friends we have to trust each other. Can I trust you, Blaine?"
Blaine but his lip and then sighed as he said,"She told me you were gay."
Kurt sighed and started to explain and apologize until Blaine cut him off. "Its okay. Im gay, too. Dont worry. You have nothing to apologise for." At that point Blaine had rested his hand on Kurts arm and was moving his thumb around in circles on his skin. Kurts face turned pink and his smile grew. Shannon placed down the trays of food, separating the two boys. They laughed uneasily as they dove into the food, even playfully throwing French fries at each other.
Half an hour later the food was finished and the boys were laughing and talking happily. Kurt checked his watch and sighed. "I have to get back to my post." Blaine frowned and placed his hand on Kurts.
"Let me take you to a movie tonight. We can see any movie you want." Eager puppy dog eyes and a quivering bottom lip made Kurt sigh and agree.
"That cute pouts gonna be the death of me." He said walking away from Blaine.
"Ill pick you up at four! We can do something before the movie!" Blaine called to the teen.
"Alright, Blaine. Now go have fun and let me work!" He said giggling.
Blaine was more eager and excited than he ever thought he would be, but Kurt was only more anticipatingly smiling for the evening ahead.
