TWO

“Hello Kurt,” Finch said, smiling at me.

“Why are you here?” I asked shakily. I reached my hand down to push Annie behind me more, I wouldn’t let any harm come to her. I willed Blaine to come home. He didn’t.

“Revenge,” he answered, “I’ve been on the run for years while you two played house. Sweet kid, by the way.”

“Leave her out of this, she’s done nothing wrong.”

“I agree, she won’t be harmed. Step away from her.” I did.

“Daddy,” I hear Annie’s scared little voice call out to me and I turn to comfort her but before I can something heavy is brought down on the back of my head.

I don’t remember hitting the floor but that’s where I am when I wake up to see a worried Blaine leaning over me.

“Kurt? Kurt? You’re awake, thank goodness I was so scared.” He pulls me up into his arms hugs me tightly against his chest while I blink dazedly. What happened?

Memories slowly start to filter back into my mind and I pull myself out of my husband’s arms.

“Annie? Where’s Annie?” I ask frantically. Blaine’s eyes are wide as he looks around himself, lost.

“I don’t know,” he says quietly. “I came in and saw you on the floor, I called out for her but she hasn’t answered.”

“No, no, no, no,” I chanted as I shakily got to my feet, my head was pounding and I wanted to collapse but I couldn’t, I dashed around out house, calling and searching for our daughter, Blaine following my lead. She wasn’t here.

“What happened?” Blaine asked, obviously trying to stay calm but failing.

“It was Finch,” I managed to say, “he was here with a gun, he knocked me out and now she’s gone.” Blaine sucked in a sharp breath.

“Bastard, I’m going after him,” Blaine said storming into our bedroom, he pulled out a box from the bottom of the closet. I recognised the box, it had been there forever, holding old mementos of Blaine’s childhood, at least that’s what I always believed. I wasn’t so sure now I saw what he pulled out from it. I gasped at the sight of the gun, I felt angry.

“You had a gun in our house with our daughter,” I snapped.

“Now is not the time,” Blaine replied as he loaded it. He turned towards me, a look of determination on his face. He clicked the safety onto the gun and shoved it into the waist band of his trousers. He stepped close to me, really really close. Our breath mingled, I felt a hand on the back of my head then Blaine’s lips against mine.

“I’ll get her back,” he said quietly then he shoved me, hard. I fell back onto the bed, bouncing slightly.

“Hey,” I shouted, scrambling off the bed to chase him. By the time I got to the door he had slammed it closed. I grabbed the handle and tried to pull it open but nothing happened. Looking down I saw the key, which was always on the inside of the door was missing. The bastard had locked me into our bedroom.

“Dammit Blaine, let me out now,” I yelled, slamming my hand against the door.

“I can’t,” he replied. “If I asked you to stay here would you?” he asked. I didn’t reply but that was all the answer he needed, my husband knew me well. “I thought so, Kurt I love you, I can’t lose you or Annie, I’ll get her back and I’ll know you’re safe here.”

“Blaine please,” I was crying now, no longer shouting. I rested my head on the door. “I love you, I don’t want to lose you either.”

“I’m sorry.” I heard Blaine walk away.

“Blaine, please, come back,” I shouted until I heard the front door slam shut. I slumped down leaning against the bedroom door.

I glanced around the room looking, through my tears, for something to help me. My daughter had been kidnapped by a man looking for revenge. Finch could have killed me but he hadn’t. I thought back, he may have shot me but really it had been an accident, a gun fired in the fight. All I ever did wrong was be in the right place at the right time. I hadn’t actively sought to shut down that organisation, I hadn’t been part of destroying it. I hadn’t been the reason Finch had spent the last eight years on the run. He hadn’t wanted revenge against me, he hadn’t wanted to kill me, he wanted to kill Blaine and Blaine was going straight to him.

I was getting more frantic until I saw my phone lying on the bed, where I’d thrown it earlier. In my panic I’d forgotten it. I scrambled forwards and grabbed it, I nearly called Blaine but that wasn’t going to help. I called someone else.

Hey Kurt, what’s up,” Wes said upon answering the phone. He was the only person I could trust, the person Blaine had turned to eight years ago.

“Finch came back and he took Annie and Blaine went after him and he’s walking in too a trap and I need you Wes.” I spoke the sentence so fast it was almost one word.

Wait what? Did you just say Finch?”

“Yes!”

Where are you?”

“Home, Blaine locked me in our bedroom and I can’t get out.”

Ok, any idea where Blaine went?”

“No.”

I’m on my way.”

I was frantically pacing the room when I heard a car pull up, unfortunately my bedroom was at the back so I couldn’t see who it was. They had a key though, so I hoped it was Wes, or Blaine back with Annie. Feet climbed the stairs, the key turned in the lock of the bedroom door and it was opened. Wes. I flung myself at him and he caught me.

“I sort of hoped you were just winding me up,” he said quietly pushing me back. “Come on, I’ve got a team following Blaine, there’s a tracker in his phone. We’ll pick him up. He’ll meet us at the base, come on.”

I like the fact that Blaine really thought locking Kurt in the room would stop him from following him. I also like that Blaine's first instinct is to make sure that Kurt is safe. I can't wait to read the next chapter.

Thanks for reading the story, I've finally managed to update and reply to reviews. One of the first ideas for this was Blaine locking Kurt in, it's not a very well thought out plan but he tries. He almost lost Kurt before.
