“I can’t believe I ran into you again. That’s crazy.” Blaine smiled happily.
“I know right! What brought you to New York?” Kurt asked.
“Well I applied to NYU along with Ohio State and other instate colleges, but I got a pretty decent scholarship to NYU and my parents were happy with that. And I’ve just been here ever since. I’ve been here for about four years.” Blaine explained.
“I’m confused. How were you in high school with us, but you’re twenty five now?” Rachel asked.
“Well I was nineteen my senior year, when I met Kurt. I turned twenty shortly after I graduated. I was old for my class because I missed a whole year and had to repeat my sophomore year because I spent practically the whole year in the hospital because I got beat up after a dance. I was twenty when I moved to New York, went to college, and turned twenty five about a month ago.” Blaine explained.
“Man I had a late birthday, junior year I was only sixteen.” Kurt laughed.
“Thank I guess it was a good thing you stood me up, you’d be underage.” Blaine laughed.
“I didn’t mean to stand you up. I really liked you, but then again with an almost one year old taking up most of your life who has time to date?” Kurt laughed.
“True. I guess I’ll have to forgive you for standing me up.” Blaine laughed.
“Speaking of being young in school, Candie’s practically two years younger than some of her classmates.” Blaine laughed.
“I mean I teach pre-k and kindergarten combo class but still everyone’s almost six.” Blaine explained.
“Yeah, we had no other choice but put Candie in school early. Rachel, Finn, and Brittany attend college and we all work so there wouldn’t be anyone home for her during the day. So it makes sense that she’d just start school, since we can’t afford to send her to daycare or anything.” Santana explained.
“I understand. She’s certainly smart enough.” Blaine smiled.
“Some big meanie picked on me for being young.” Candie pouted.
“Whatta bitch! Did you go all Lima Heights Adjacent on them?” Kurt laughed.
“I told her that mommy was from there but she didn’t look as scared as people do when mommy says it.” Candie laughed.
“Yeah mommy can be pretty scary.” Kurt laughed kissing Santana’s cheek.
“Remember when you flipped out on us at Nationals? I practically peeped my pants; I don’t think I’d ever been so scared.” Rachel laughed.
“Well you deserved it. You two cost us a win at Nationals because of your dumb kiss. Kurt and I paid for a fucking sitter to watch Candie so we could go all the way to New York. And you two took your gross PDA to a new level. I blame you both for our loss. You’re lucky I didn’t cut you.” Santana glared.
“That wasn’t nearly as scary as when you slapped me.” Finn frowned.
“You outted me on national television!” Santana yelled.
“Oh, right. Sorry bout that.” Finn laughed.
“Still enjoying our dysfunction?” Kurt whispered to Blaine.
“Loving every minute of it.” Blaine laughed.
“We should have dessert.” Finn suggested.
“Didn’t you and Candie go for ice cream?” Kurt asked confused. There was no way his four year old was having dessert twice in one day.
“No, we got lost on our way there and Candie suggested we just go home.” Finn said looking down.
“Finn Hudson! You and my daughter got lost in New York City!?!” Santana screamed.
“Sorry..” Finn trailed off lamely.
“I’m gonna cut you!” Santana said jumping up and wrestling Finn to the ground.
“San, calm down. She’s safe, don’t murder him just yet.” Kurt laughed grabbing the Latina and forcefully removing her from Finn.
Kurt was holding Santana in his arms as Finn sat up. “Fuck San, I’m bleeding.” Finn said looking at the scratches down his arm from her nails.
“Oh sweetie are you okay?” Rachel asked grabbing paper towels clumsily knocking over a beer spilling it all over Candie in the process.
“Rach, careful.” Kurt said taking napkins from her and cleaning off Candie while still holding Santana in his arms.
“Daddy my shirts going to be ruined.” Candie frowned before scowling at Rachel.
“Alright everyone calm the fuck down and listen up.” Kurt said sternly.
“Finn, you are an idiot the ice cream shop is literally across the street from the school. Nothing happened this time, but you can’t wander aimlessly around the city with a toddler, it’s not safe. I will get you some peroxide and a few Band-Aids.” Kurt said to Finn.
“Rach, watch what you’re doing. Clean up the spilled drink from the floor and apologize to Candie.” Kurt told Rachel.
“San, everything’s okay sweetie. Candie’s safe, it was just a mishap. She’s safe. Everything’s okay. If I let you go will you refrain from attacking people? Okay thank you. Apologize to Finn and help Brittany clean up the plates and cups.” Kurt told Santana before letting her go.
“Brit, can you help San clean up?” Kurt asked Brittany sweetly.
“Candie sweetie, it was smart of you to tell Uncle Finn to just head home. If you’re ever lost you know not to talk to strangers. And you know my and mommy’s number so always call. I’m going to get your shirt clean. And you smell like a bar, so go get ready for bath time.” Kurt said kissing Candie’s cheek.
And that’s how it’s done.
“Sorry Santana, sorry Kurt.” Finn said looking down. “I’ll be more careful next time.”
“Sorry Finn, I shouldn’t have attacked you.” Santana apologized.
“Candie I’m sorry for knocking that drink on you, it was an accident.” Rachel told Candie.
Everyone did as they were told and Blaine looked at Kurt in amazement.
This family may be the most unconventional, dysfunctional thing he’d ever seen. But apparently Kurt had everything under control.
His amount for Kurt just kept growing.
In fact he felt bad for ever questioning Kurt’s ability of taking care of Candie.
If there was anyone out there who could take care of her, it was Kurt.
And he certainly had everything under control.
“Blaine, I’m so sorry about this. I hope you’re not like completely appalled by our family. If you’ll give me a second chance I’d really like to go out with you again.” Kurt said his eyes pleading.
Blaine had be a little taken back by this. His night had been amazing, Kurt was amazing, and of course he’d like to go out with him again.
“I’d love to go out with you again Kurt.” Blaine smiled.
“Yay” Kurt smiled.
“But I think I should probably head home for the night. I still need to go home and get things ready for tomorrow. I had an amazing night with you Kurt, and I can’t wait to do it again.” Blaine smiled as Kurt walked him to the door.
“Thank you.” Kurt smiled.
Kurt opened the door for Blaine and led him out closing the door behind the two of them.
Blaine was about to ask why Kurt closed the door behind them but before he knew it he had be twirled around and pinned against the door Kurt holding his body close and looking into his eyes as if asking for permission.
Blaine nodded his consent and their lips met instantly.
