Author's Notes: Hope you're all enjoying the story :) It's coming to a close though. Second to last chapter...Enjoy :)

The next morning Kurt got up, got ready for his day, and actually ate breakfast for once. Improvement.

Today was the day. He was going to see a therapist. And things were going to get better. They had to.

“Hello Kurt. I’m Doctor Jennings.” A petit woman with soft curly brown hair, think framed glasses, and bright smile said to him as he walked in.

“Hello Doctor Jennings.” He greeted politely shaking her hand before sitting down.

Doctor Jennings’ office was cover with PhD’s and other files and diplomas all hung around the walls. Clearly she knew what she was doing.

She seemed pretty nice. In about her late thirties/early forties. A wedding band around her finger. Small frame and slender build. She was awfully pretty and seemed very sweet.

Kurt had been on the fence about telling complete strangers his life story, but she looked sweet enough. And she actually looked like she knew what she was doing. Unlike the deer caught in headlights that was Ms. Pillsbury. No Bambi pun intended.

“So Kurt, care to tell me why you’re here today?” She asked sweetly making eye contact.

“I think I’m depressed.” Kurt responded softly looking down.

“Is that so? Do you know what the cause of said depression might be?” She asked.

“A lot of things actually.” Kurt chuckled softly before explaining to her about the bullies and his heartbreak and his medicine.

“I think my real problem is the way I cope with it all.” He said showing her his wrists.

“Oh my. Yes that isn’t a very good way to handle your problems. It’s very dangerous. I am however glad you know that cutting is wrong. Admitting you have a problem is the first step you know?” She smiled.

“Yeah I’m familiar with that AA meeting cliché.” Kurt laughed.

“I’m serious Kurt. Knowing that cutting is a problem will make it easier for you to stop?” She explained.

“How so?” He asked confused.

“Well it shows that you mentally have control over the situation. This is very good. You know how harmful it can be and you know that it is a destructive means of coping. This shows that you are not in denial about your issue and that makes it all the more easily to fix.” She smiled.

“You think I can fix it?” He asked.

“Certainly. From what you have told me about yourself and from what your file has demonstrated you are very strong Kurt. I have faith in you that’ll you will pull through and be better in no time.” She smiled.

Kurt smiled softly at this.

“Why don’t we talk about your eating disorder? Why do you starve yourself?” She asked.

“I want to be skinny.” He said simply.

“And you are. You are unhealthily underweight. What made you want to starve yourself in the first place? And what makes you continue starving yourself?” She asked.

“I wanted to be thinner. I wanna be a model. They’re perfect and I want to be just like them. It’s my dream to be on the cover of fashion magazines.” Kurt smiled.

“You do know that the people on the front of magazines are completely fake right?” She asked.

“Huh?” He asked his smile faltering a bit.

“They’re not just cleaned up and beautified for the photo shoot by having makeup and hair and everything done. After the pictures are taken they use Photoshop to airbrush their skin. They crop parts out to make them skinnier. They make them tanner. They make them taller. Whiten their teeth. Change their eye color. Get rid of freckles or blemishes. Everything Kurt, before and after shots are pretty much unrecognizable. The industry is so fake; they want people to buy into all that. Make them feel ugly or fat so they’ll buy whatever product is being advertised. It’s all fake Kurt.” She explained.

“I, uh, I never knew that. It’s all fake?” He asked.

“Yup. Even on television they do that. The media wants the viewers to believe people are that perfect. Newsflash! They’re not. No one is Kurt. And it would be unhealthy to look like that.” She said softly.

“I had no idea.” He said. A new light was being shed on the situation. To think everyone said the camera always adds ten pounds.

“Well now you know.” Doctor Jennings smiled.

Doctor Jennings prescribed Kurt some new medicine. Something to help with the depression along with iron and calcium supplements to fill the lack of nutrients he had. She also came up with a diet plan for him that would be easy enough to follow. Instead of just shoving food at him, it was a long term process to help him start eating normally again gradually.

He had scheduled weekly appointments with her so he could talk things over and she even gave him ideas for healthier ways of dealing with issues.

All and all Kurt Hummel’s future was looking up.

End Notes: TBC.So incase you were wondering about the whole photoshop thing just spend two minutes of your time googling 'celebrities before and after photoshop' it shows you just how fake these people are. Learned about this in some body image class and I have to admit it does make me feel a little better. Thanks for reading!!!
