A few hours of awkward small talk past and it was starting to get late.
“It’s getting pretty late, do you think we should leave?” Burt asked.
“I’m starving.” Finn complained.
“We can stop for dinner on the way home.” Carole said sweetly.
“Okay, I’ll sign us out and then we can get going we all have school and work tomorrow.” Burt said.
“Do you want to join us for dinner Blaine? We’ll probably just do take out, but still.” Carole asked politely.
“No thank you. I’m probably just going to stay a little longer and then get heading back to Dalton.” Blaine explained.
“Okay, but if it’s really late and your tired I don’t want you to make the drive. It could be dangerous, so you can just come back to our house and stay in Kurt’s room.” Burt explained.
“Okay, thank you sir. But I don’t think I’ll be staying that late. Thank you again for the offer of dinner and a place to stay though.” Blaine said politely.
“No problem honey, you’re always welcome.” Carole cooed and hugged Blaine.
Blaine said goodbye to them and turned back to Kurt.
He sat on the edge of Kurt’s hospital bed and lightly stroked his hair.
As it grew later Blaine slid down so he was lying with Kurt.
Cautious of the bruises and broken ribs he lightly wrapped his arm around Kurt and snuggled next to him.
He moved Kurt’s head and sat it on his chest so he could hold the boy in his arms.
He kissed Kurt's lips and lightly drifted off into sleep.
He was woken up but Kurt’s light stirring.
Kurt.
He was waking up.
Blaine held the boy, kissing his cheek and his neck whispering I love you’s into his ear.
Kurt groaned. He slowly opened one eye, blinked a couple times to take in the surroundings and then began to speak.
“B-Blaine?” he questioned, his voice scratchy and dry.
“Its okay love, I’m right here, I’m not going anywhere. You’re okay now. I love you. You’re safe now.” Blaine said calmly as he kissed Kurt’s cheek and held his head in his hand, stroking his face with the pad of his thumb.
“W-where the hell am I?” Kurt asked trying to sit up but getting dizzy and laying back down against Blaine’s chest.
“You’re in the hospital, but everything is okay now.” Blaine reassured.
“The-the last thing I remembered.” Kurt froze instantly memories filled his head and he began to cry softly.
“Shh, it’s okay. I’m right here. You’re okay now.” Blaine said trying to calm Kurt down.
“You’re okay.” Blaine said again kissing the corner of Kurt’s mouth, tightening his grip on him and smiling that the boy he loved was now awake.
Everything was going to be fine.
Kurt was awake.
They almost had enough evidence to arrest Karofsky.
And everything was going to be good.
They had a long way to go to get things back to normal.
They had just now started to pick up the pieces.
But things would be okay.
“I love you.” Blaine murmured into Kurt’s neck.
“I love you too.” Kurt sighed as he fell back asleep.
Blaine held Kurt there in his arms; he never thought he’d be happy again.
But the boy he loved was alive and back in his arms.
Things would be okay.
Eventually.
