Author's Notes: Warning, talks of attempted suidice.

All at once Kurt’s eyes rolled back and his eyelids snapped shut. The monitor above his head flat lined. Doctors rushed in moving them out of the way to tend to Kurt.

He was completely unresponsive.

“What happened?!” A doctor who wasn’t frantically working on him asked.

“I don’t know! We were just talking and he was gone, is he okay?!?” Burt answered.

“He doesn’t seem responsive, were going to be forced to try and perform and AED to restart his heart.” The doctor explained.

Doctors were moving around him left and right and his family was shuffled out of the room.

From outside the room, behind the closed door, you could hear the doctors moving with the defibrillator.

“One. Two. Three. Clear.”

No response.

“One. Two. Three. Clear.”

No response.

“Again. One. Two. Three. Clear.”

The monitor began to beep frantically and the family wondered what was going on in there.

They weren’t allowed back into the room, in fact they were asked to go back down to the waiting room. They didn’t know anything about what had happened and what was happening. All they knew was Kurt was back in the ICU and all of the doctors were treating him, because right now it was critical they get his heart beating again.

“What do you think happened?” Blaine asked wiping tears from his eyes. Trying to stay strong.

“I’m not sure. He seemed pretty upset. Do you think we got him overworked and he went into shock?” Burt asked.

“Oh God, that could be it.” Carole replied.

“I don’t think so.” Finn said sadly.

“What do you mean?” Blaine asked curiously looking at Finn with his sad eyes.

“He w-was pressing the button that released his pain medicine. He pressed a bunch of times and then, well that happened.” Finn explained.

“You don’t think he tried to kill himself? Do you?” Blaine asked crying.

“Fuck. He shouldn’t have been allowed access to that. The hospital knew how unstable he was. They should have had that monitored better. How did we not see this? Oh God this can’t be happening.” Burt said, a few stray tears slipping down his cheek.

“You can’t blame yourself for not seeing it. We’re all at fault. Even if the hospital overlooked how unstable he was, and that he couldn’t be trusted with such heavy medications, we all should have noticed it. But it’s too late for blame. We just need to make sure he’s okay now.” Carole said.

“What if he’s not okay though?” Blaine asked sadly.

“I don’t know kid. I just don’t know.” Burt answered.

“I-I just thought he’d never try something like that again. Not after all this. I thought he was getting better. I should have noticed he was still depressed. Hell this whole incident has probably caused him to be even more depressed. He’s so bottled up, I understand not telling the police, but he won’t even tell me anything. It can’t be good for him to suppress all this.” Blaine said crying.

“He hasn’t talked to any of us about it either.” Carole said sadly.

“Every time things get serious he has to make a joke about it or find a way to change the subject.” Burt said.

“I even flat out asked him what happened and he starting crying and told me he couldn’t tell anyone or he’d kill him for real. I think he’s scared.” Finn explained.

“No, this must have been what he meant by not wanting to talk to the police officers. He’s still worried Karofsky will no he talked. Oh God, now I feel awful for trying to get him to talk. How could I not have understood? Here we are pressuring him to talk and he’s scared for his life because he knows Karofsky didn’t want him to talk.” Blaine said looking down.

“Now I feel like an ass for trying to force him to talk.” Burt said sadly.

“We just wanted what’s best for him. Only our ideas of what’s best and his ideas are completely different.” Carole said softly.

“What are going to do?!” Blaine asked running his fingers through his hair. “I thought I lost him once before, but he pulled through. I can’t lose him again! I can’t live without him! I love him and he needs to be okay!” Blaine cried.

“It’s okay. Stop pulling your hair out dude. I’m sure he’ll be fine.” Finn said removing Blaine’s hands from his hair and holding them.

“Okay. Thank you.” Blaine said pulling his hands away and hugging Finn.

“He’ll be fine.” Finn said pulling away from the hug. “I hope.” He said under his breath.

End Notes: TBC.
