Shortly after Kurt hung up the phone he fell asleep.
He slept peacefully throughout the night, but woke up startled around six am.
“Where the hell am I?” He asked.
He looked around the room and took in his surroundings. His eyes locked on the boy sleeping in the bed across the room. “And who the hell’s that?” He questioned.
He was starting to get paranoid and he could feel his anxiety kicking in. Where was he?
He stood up quickly and paced around the room.
He was internally freaking out.
Where was he?
Why was he here?
Who was the guy across the room?
What room was he even in?
And it all started coming back to him.
He was in the psychiatric ward of Lima Hospital.
He was here because he’s a crazy person.
The guy was Holden.
He was in his and Holden’s room.
It all started to come back to him and his mind was flooded with a wave of relief.
But that didn’t last long.
Next came new worries and fears.
He was in the psychiatric ward of Lima Hospital.
He was here because he was a crazy person.
The phrases kept playing back in his mind and he instantly felt overwhelmed.
He couldn’t take it and he ran to the bathroom.
Everything was just too much and he felt sick, he leaned over the toilet just into to vomit.
His body was shaking due to the anxiety attack and he was convulsing, he wrapped his arms around his torso and braced himself as he threw up again.
Since he hadn’t eaten in god knows how long he was mostly just dry heaving, but it still calmed his nerves a little bit.
He stood up and flushed the toilet, he gripped the sink for balance and he brushed the taste of bile out of his mouth.
His stomach hurt from the retching and he grabbed at his sides.
His fingers applying pressure on his almost scabbed over cuts.
This is what he needed.
He searched the bathroom frantically to find something he could use to cut.
Being a room in a hospital…especially on this floor where people like him were treated…in a room with two people who had attempted suicide…it was pretty hard to find anything.
He still felt like he needed to so he rushed back into the room and tried to find something, anything, that he could use.
He settled for the key to the room.
He felt the jaggedness of it as he rubbed it on the pad of his thumb.
It wasn’t very sharp, but it would do.
He lifted his shirt and was about to slice the key against his skin but was stopped.
“Kurt. Don’t.” Holden said grabbing the key from him.
“I need to.” Kurt whined.
“You don’t need to.” Holden countered pulling Kurt’s shirt back down and placing the key in his own pocket.
“Hey that was my key.” Kurt argued.
“And you’ll get it back when you can handle it.” Holden replied.
“But how will I get into the room?” Kurt asked.
“We can either leave it unlocked, or you’ll just have to wait for me to unlock it.” Holden answered.
“But. But. But. I need to cut. I need it.” Kurt cried.
“Kurt, you’re here to get help. You don’t need to cut. In fact you’re trying to stop.” Holden countered.
“You’re right. I’m sorry.” Kurt sighed.
“Do you want to go grab breakfast? Or what time is your morning therapy session?” Holden asked.
“I’m going to skip breakfast today, my session’s at nine, but right now I need to see Doctor Andrews or someone. I had an anxiety attack and I think I should probably go take my medicine.” Kurt answered.
“Okay, that’s a good idea. Do you want me to come with you?” Holden smiled.
“No thank you. I think I’m just going to go call Blaine before he gets to school.” Kurt replied.
“Oh. Okay.” Holden sighed.
The two parted their ways and Kurt dialed Blaine’s number as he made his way to find Doctor Andrews.
“Good morning sunshine!” Blaine said excitedly over the phone.
“Hey babe! I hope I’m not interrupting you I just wanted to talk to you real quick.” Kurt answered.
“Sure thing, what’s up?” Blaine asked.
“I had a freak out this morning, and I almost cut. But I didn’t. Holden stopped me. And now I’m on my way to go get medicine and then I have a therapy session. I just wanted you to know that I’m sorry but I’m trying.” Kurt said sadly.
“As long as you’re okay.” Blaine said calmly. “I’ll need to thank Holden. It’s a good thing he was there for you. I just wish I could be there for you. You know?” Blaine sighed.
“Yeah I know. I miss you Blaine.”
“I miss you too.”
“Can you believe it’s only been 24 hours?”
“Yay 24 hours since you last cut! Achievement!” Blaine cheered.
Kurt couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah, I guess that’s progress.”
“Well I’m glad you’re okay but I have class in like two seconds so I have to go. Call me later tonight. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Kurt hung up and found his way to Doctor Andrews’ office.
“Hey Kurt, you here for your medicine?” He asked opening a pill box.
“Yeah I am. And also I had an anxiety attack this morning, is there something I could take if that happens again to calm me down?” He asked.
“Why don’t you talk to Doctor Jessica at your session this morning about it and I’ll see what she prescribes.” He answered.
“Okay, thank you.” Kurt said taking the handful of pills and the glass of water.
He popped the pills in his mouth and downed the water and was on his way.
He had therapy in the morning and he was going to talk about what he had just experienced.
He didn’t have afternoon therapy with Doctor Sandra so he had the rest of the day to do as he pleased.
He was starting to get the routine down.
Maybe things would start to get easier.
Maybe.

Poor Kurtie. Yay for Holden... though he kinda seemed a little down when Kurt talked about Blaine... I think maybe he's jealous? =P
