“Blaine! How’s he doing? I found one of the old payphones near the back of the school and they’re sending an ambulance.” Finn said all at once as he ran into the choir room and kneeled down next to Blaine who was cuddling Kurt, who looked like he hadn’t moved from his spot.

“He-he spoke to me, but he closed his eyes and and I-I don’t think he’s br-breathing.” Blaine cried, running his hand through Kurt’s hair.

Blaine was still trying to comfort Kurt, even though he knew the other boy couldn’t feel it and even if he could, wouldn’t respond to it.

“The ambulance is on its way, maybe they can save him.” Finn said, hopeful, but knowing it was a long shot.

There was blood everywhere it’s a wonder Kurt hadn’t already bled out.

“Maybe we should try and use something to stop the bleeding?” Blaine asked.

“Yeah, yeah. Here” Finn said as he riped the sleave off his shirt and gave it to Blaine who then tried to apply pressure to the stab wound in Kurt’s torso.

“What should we do about his neck?” Finn asked wiping away some of the blood.

“I’m not sure, maybe try and apply some pressure to stop the bleeding, but not too much that it would hurt him.” Blaine said cautiously thinking out what to do.

A flash of lights and a siren alerted the boys that help had arrived.

Within seconds paramedics were running in and pushing Blaine and Finn back.

They kept saying medical words and touching his cuts trying to see how deep they were. They then fastened him to a stretcher and carried him out.

“Come on Finn, we’ll follow the ambulance to the hospital and you can call your parents on the way over.” Blaine said as he pulled Finn along with him.

Once at the hospital Finn and Blaine were forced to remain in the waiting area as the doctors rushed Kurt to the ER.

“Finn? Blaine? I got here as soon as I could. Is he okay? What happened? Can we see him?” Burt asked all at once.

“We don’t know what happened, he went back in to get some books or something and when he didn’t come back we found him lying there on the floor. His attacker stabbed him and slit his throat. He was able to speak to me, but he closed his eyes and hasn’t moved since.” Blaine explained.

“They took him to the ER, but they’re going to move him to the ICU. It’s pretty serious. I’m so scared. The doctors won’t let us in to see him.” Finn continued.

A few minutes later Carole ran in hugging her family and Blaine.

They explained to her what was going on and she asked the question that was on everyone’s mind.

“Who do you think attacked him?”

“If I had to guess I’d say it’s Karofsky.” Blaine said tearing up.

“He was the one that threatened him right?” Burt asked.

“Yeah, he threatened him because he didn’t want Kurt to tell. But now they whole glee club knows, and they kind of put some things on facebook.” Finn said quietly.

The group paced around nervously for hours waiting for answers.

A doctor finally approached them.

“Are you Kurt Hummel’s family?” She asked in a solemn tone.

“Yes.” Burt answered. “Is Kurt okay? Can we see him?” He asked.

“Here, can we step inside this office so we can discuss some things?” The doctor asked the group as their panicked expressions grew more evident.

They followed her into an office and she shut the door behind them.

“Is he okay?” Blaine asked.

“I’m afraid he suffered some very serious injuries. He has a sever stab wound to the abdomen that almost went all the way through, and he lost a serious amount of blood from it. Also the cut to his neck was pretty severe, but not sever enough to kill him. It caused some excessive bleeding and his lungs are full of blood. Also the punches he received from the attack, although not fatal have caused some internal bleeding, when and if he is stable enough we will operate to stop the bleeding. He has a concussion from blows to the face. Four broken ribs and his hip is dislocated.” The doctor explained.

“But he’s still alive?” Carole asked.

“Yes, barely.”

The group sighed in relief.

“There is one more thing.” The doctor added looking down at the ground.

“What is it?” Burt asked worried.

“There were signs of rape. We checked him out and there was definitely penetration. The attacker was very rough with him. We assume he dislocated his hip from being slammed into the ground during the rape. From all of this we were able to gather DNA evidence and in a few hours we should be able to know who the assailant was.” The nurse said sadly.

“Kurt was raped?” Burt asked.

“Yes, we know that recovery will be hard for him after such an attack. Not only the physical pain he endured but also the emotional pain.” The doctor explained.

“No, this couldn’t have happened.” Blaine said quietly the hurt written all over his face. He swore silently and Finn pulled him into a hug as the both cried together.

“One more thing we noticed, he seemed to have other abrasions as well, some newer ones looked self induced, while other once that looked to have been scars from a long time ago are very apparent all over his body. Do you know what might have happened?” The nurse questioned.

Blaine controlled his sobs and spoke up.

“Kurt’s been bullied for years, that’s what the old scars are from. The newer ones” HE stopped unable to finish his sentence.

“He’s been severely depressed, and cutting himself.” Carole explained.

“He was one the road to recovery, he promised to change, hell we were even supposed to have an intervention tonight to get him more of the help he needed.” Burt said sadly.

“I’m sorry to hear that, I will inform the doctors.” The doctor said making a note on her clip board.

“You all can have a seat back in the waiting room; we’ll inform you when we know more.” The doctor told them before heading back down the corridor.

There they sat and waited.

Each one silently praying for everything to be alright.
