Author's Notes: Warning talks of self harm.

After lying in Kurt’s bed and talking for a few hours they head their front door open.

“Finn! Kurt! I’m home!” Burt yelled from the living room.

“Hey! We’re downstairs with Blaine and Mercedes.” Finn answered.

“Hey Blaine! Hey Mercedes!” Burt hollered down.

Finn noticed the time, twenty or so more minutes his mom would be home and it would be time for the truth.

The time past quickly and he heard the front door open again and Burt greeting his mom.

“Hey, I’m going to go say hi to my mom.” Finn said awkwardly and ran upstairs.

But no one really questioned it, they just laid there talking quietly about nothing in particular.

“Hey Blaine? Could you come upstairs for a minute?” Carole hollered down.

“Sure thing!” Blaine answered. This was his cue.

Blaine kissed Kurt on the cheek and looked at Mercedes who nodded her head before running upstairs.

Once Blaine joined them upstairs Finn and his parents were already seated in the living room.

Blaine sat down next to Finn and nodded for him to begin.

“We need to talk. Like now. Like family crisis.” Finn said with worry emanating from his tone.

“Shouldn’t Kurt be here for our family meeting?” Carole asked confused.

“Well he’s more so the topic of our family crisis.” Blaine said sadly.

“What happened?” Burt asked confused.

Blaine and Finn filled them in on everything Karofsky related starting from the real reason Kurt left McKinley all the way up to the present.

“So this bully kid? Why hasn’t a teacher stopped him or anything?” Carole asked confused and worried.

“Well like we said, Karofsky threatened to kill him if he told.” Finn replied.

“But you see, this isn’t why we called the family meeting. That was just some back ground information you needed to know before we tell you what the real problem is…” Blaine trailed off not having the heart to finish.

“Kurt’s been pretty down about this and he took to-he took to-”Finn paused trying to figure out how to put it.

“I STARTED CUTTING MYSELF! OKAY?” Kurt yelled from behind them.

No one had heard Kurt come up the stairs and no one saw him watching the conversation unfold.

Mercedes was supposed to keep him distracted while the meeting was going on, but she went to the bathroom and he overheard his name from upstairs and he ran up to get a better listen and he had already burst through the conversation before Mercedes had a chance to stop him.

“Kurt, honey, why would you do that?” Carole asked completely shocked.

“Because I liked doing it, it made me feel better, it made me feel. And I did it again before I came upstairs too, and it is the best feeling. I just feel so relieved, everything that was bringing me down has been pushed aside and the only thing I feel is the sting of the fresh cuts over top of the old ones.” Kurt said flailing his arms so everyone could see the freshly made cuts sticking out in contrast to his pale skin.

“Kurt. I thought we talked about this, I thought you wouldn’t do this anymore.” Blaine said sadly.

“Yeah, like I could sit around and not want to make myself feel better, when two of the people closest to me go off to secretly tell my parents what a freak show I am and how fucked up I am. No Blaine, it makes me feel better. I need this.” He said coldly.

“Kurt, we were only trying to help.” Mercedes said from behind him.

“You were in on this too? Why are the people I love the most turning on me?” Kurt asked in disbelief.

“We are trying to get you help, dude. Mom and Dad needed to know. We were only trying to help. We figured we could talk to them, stage and intervention and get you all the help you need.” Finn said.

“Kurt, we love you. How could you do this? Why haven’t you talked to me?” Burt asked obviously hurt.

“I didn’t want to upset you or bother anyone, with my problems.” Kurt says quietly.

“Sweetie, you’re not a bother. You need to talk to us more.” Carole followed up.

“We’re going to get you help. Well first I’m going to put all the knives out of reach. And then we’re going to get you some mentally help. Along with dealing with the Karofsky situation. But I think your mental health is our primary concern. Is there anything else we should know?” Burt spoke.

“No.” Kurt said immediately shaking his head.

“Kurt.” Blaine warned.

But Kurt didn’t seem to want to talk.

“Kurt hasn’t been eating.” Finn said answering for him.

“Kurt, why? You know you’ve struggled with that in the past. How could you have gone back?” Burt asked sadly.

“I’m not anorexic. I just, I’m too depressed to eat. It’s nothing like last time I swear.” Kurt replied.

“Oh sweetie, I noticed you’d been losing weight, but I didn’t know.” Carole said sadly.

“I’m sorry guys.” Kurt replied.

“You have nothing to be sorry for. We’re just worried. You need help Kurt, and we’re going to get you the help you need.” Burt said sadly.

“Why bother.” Kurt said coldly looking down.

“Why bother?!? Kurt, even though you’re life is going so great right now, that’s no reason to end it. We’re going to help you. We love you and we’re here to help you.” Mercedes practically yelled.

Kurt just shrugged.

Part of him wanted the help they offered, the other part of him just wanted to end it all.

Yeah, ending it all sounded pretty good right about now.

But what about his family?

His friends?

Blaine?

He could never do that to them.

He loved them all, and they loved him.

Surely he couldn’t end it all for such selfish reasons and leave the people he loved the most behind.

They were here for him. Maybe it was time for him to take them up on their offer to help.

“I think I need help.” Kurt said quietly as Blaine hugged him and he buried his face into Blaine’s chest.

“I’ll always be here for you.” Blaine whispered kissing him on the cheek. “And we’ll get you all the help you need.”

“Thank you.” Kurt said sobbing at this point.

He needed this help.

He would accept that.

And he would get better.
