Author's Notes: Thank you so much to everyone who has read our story so far! we didn't expect to get this many views already so thank you lovely people :) anyway this chapter is a bit more serious then the others, just a little warning, sorry if you don't agree with anything mentioned!
“What’s up kiddo?” Burt asked Kurt while watching Westside Story (one of Kurt’s favourites.) Kurt was biting his nail, something he NEVER did! “Just Blaine dad. He was looking forward to meeting you but now everything has changed. All because of his dad.”

Kurt slumped down into the sofa even more. Burt paused the movie without Kurt even noticing. “Look son, not every dad has the same reaction to their son being gay as I did. I think Blaine’s dad just needs a bit of time”. Kurt shrugged his shoulders, “Blaine came out when he was 14 and his father still hasn’t managed to accept that fact that he like boy and is in love with me!” he suddenly shot up and grabbed his coat. “Where you going?” Burt called out behind his son. “To settle something dad”.

Blaine had cried all night. It had been such a close call yesterday and after Kurt left a blazing row broke out. In the end his father had stormed out of the house and Blaine hadn’t seen him all day. As he slowly slumped downstairs to get something to drink he saw his mother looking petrified on the sofa. “What’s up mum?” Blaine looked worried. What had his father done now? “Your dad. He’s just pacing around outside, smashing the flower pots. I know it’s not your fault darling, you can’t help it if your gay but...it’s like he thinks it’s his fault and he’s taking his anger out on you.” Blaine snorted, “Ha! He’s been taking his anger out on me my whole life mum! I don’t care what he thinks anymore, he can…” Oh no.

Blaine had to double blink but he could pick out that face in a crowd of a 1000 people! What the hell was Kurt doing here? Talking to his father?! Blaine rushed outside.

“Kurt! What are you doing here?!” Kurt turned to face Blaine and smiled Blaine’s favourite smile and warmth came flooding back to him. Blaine’s father on the other looked as cold as ice. Kurt carried on talking; “I needed to talk to your father Blaine, without you really, don’t look so worried Blaine” Kurt let out a little laugh. Was he mad!? His father looked like he was going to rip him to pieces!

“So Mr Anderson, could we go in and talk?” Blaine watched as the anger rose in his father but then stopped, and his father nodded swiftly and strode past his son. “What you doing? What are you going to tell my dad?!” Kurt sighed, “The truth Blaine. I need to make him see that you are gay and that we love each other.” Blaine entwined his fingers with Kurt’s staring into his beautiful green eyes. “Good luck with that baby”.

‘Mr Anderson, I think it’s time you got over your homophobic views, this is 2012, civil partnerships are legal now, and everyone’s coming round to the idea of homosexuality. You don’t choose to be straight, and we don’t choose to be gay, it’s just happens. It’s like me coming and saying you can’t be with your wife anymore, it’s exactly the same.’ Kurt spoke slowly, as though he was explaining it to a five year old.

‘No. No, it’s not the same AT ALL. Gay is not ok, its wrong and its revolting, God made it so that men and women reproduce, not men and men or women and women.’
‘And where in the Bible does it say that homosexuality is wrong?’ this certainly confused Blaine’s dad.
‘I still don’t think it’s a legitimate lifestyle, what about children? I want grandchildren one day and so does Blaine’s mother.’

‘Have you never heard of adoption? Or IVF treatment? It’s possible for anyone to have children now, no matter what the situation.’ The redness had faded slightly from Mr Andersons face, it seemed like he was coming round gradually. ‘Please Sir, you’ve got to understand. Keeping Blaine separated from his dreams, his friends, from me, isn’t going to knock the gay out of him, it’s just going to make him miserable. It’s time for you to accept it, Blaine’s gay, and so am I. And we’re not alone, but its people like you that make homosexuals feel like they are monsters just for being in love. It’s disgusting. Please, it’s got to stop. I was bullied at my old school and it was the worst time of my life. I lived in fear, I was miserable. I couldn’t be myself, people were always judging me. You’re bullying your own son; you’re making him feel how I felt all those years back. It’s the worst feeling in the world, how can you live with yourself?’ To his surprise Kurt realised Blaine’s dad had tears in his eyes.

‘You’re right Kurt. I was just so… scared, I can’t cope with it and I don’t know how to deal with it. So I got angry with him, and I’ve been that way ever since. When I was younger there was a gay kid at school and we all beat the crap out of him. I’ve grown up with that attitude, that it’s wrong to be homosexual. I’ve been blind for so long, Kurt. You’ve made me realise. I love him so. so much, he’s my only child and he’s perfect Kurt. He’s perfect. I know he’s talented. I know he’ll make it on Broadway; I just didn’t want him to. I’m so, so sorry. Just so, so sorry.’ He began to cry uncontrollably. Kurt patted his arm sympathetically.

‘I get it, my dad had to go through the same thing remember? He got over it, he’d always known, and I think you always knew Blaine was gay, didn’t you?’ Blaine’s dad nodded.
‘I just couldn’t accept it. But I’m going to now. Blaine can come back to Dalton, he’s happy there.’
‘Thank you, Sir. Thank you so much.’ Kurt found that he was crying too. They looked at each other and smiled. Blaine’s dad stood up and put his arm round Kurt.
‘Look, I need to go and talk to Blaine now, but please stay for a while.’ Kurt nodded through his tears. ‘And Kurt, thank you. Thank you for opening my eyes for me.’
‘You’re welcome. Now go and talk to your son. You’ve got to get to know each other all other again; he’s an amazing person Mr Anderson. I love him. I really do.’

‘I know.’ He replied with a warm smile.
