After their date on Friday night, Kurt had fallen asleep at Blaine’s, he woke up at about 7 o’clock in the morning to 4 missed calls from his dad and dialed his father’s number.

‘Sorry dad, fell asleep at Rachel’s will be home soon’

‘It’s alright, kid. I was just worried. See you soon’ Burt hung up the phone, and Kurt woke Blaine up told him he was leavning, a prayed to God Rachel wasn’t away.

Luckily for Kurt, Rachel’s weekend schedule doesn’t start until 9. Kurt kissed Blaine goodbye and drove home.

Kurt spent the rest of the weekend watching films that Blaine had recommended, finishing off some homework, and texting Blaine little reviews of the movies he’d watch. After watching ‘Elf’ which Blaine told Kurt was one of the best Christmas films of all time, Kurt dialed Blaine’s number and sat on the sofa in the living room.

‘So, I’ve watched Elf’ Kurt said once Blaine had picked up the call.

‘And what do you think?’ Blaine asked.

‘I loved it. Will Ferrel is amazing.’ Kurt replied, ‘I have noticed something about you Anderson’

‘What’s that?’

‘You love Christmas films. It’s September and you’ve already made me watch two.’ Kurt laughed.

‘Hey you loved It’s A Wonderful Life’ Blaine commented, ‘I don’t know, I just love Christmas movies. They always make me smile. My mother did get quite worried in the summer when I had a Christmas movie marathon’

‘You’re cute’

‘Is that so?’ Blaine giggled.

‘Yes you are.’ Kurt replied.

‘So, I’ve got to finish these stupid reading practices that Madame Martin set us, because as usual I’ve left them to the last minute’ Blaine groaned, ’Why did I pick French as a subject?’

‘Okay, well I’ll leave you to it.’

‘Uh, fine’ Blaine sighed, ‘Coffee tomorrow morning?’

‘My treat’ Kurt smiled and hung up the call.

Kurt was walking back from the canteen with two mochas in his hand, extra sugar for Blaine, when he bumped into Rachel.

‘So, have you got the CDs you borrowed from Mercedes? I could do with updating my iPod’ Rachel asked.

Shit.

‘I didn’t go to Mercede’s in the end, I went to the cinema actually’ Kurt smiled, hoping that Rachel would just let it be.

‘What did you see?’ Rachel asked.

‘Err, Elf.’ Kurt thought if she asked him any questions at least he’d know what the film was about.

‘Elf? Rachel rolled her eyes, ‘You saw Elf? At the cinema? In September?’

‘Yeah, special showing or something’ Kurt shrugged.

‘Why are you lying to me, Kurt?’

‘What?’ Kurt mumbled.

‘Why are you lying?’ Rachel repeated herself, ‘I know you were at my house on Friday night, I saw you asleep in Blaine’s room’

Shit. Fuck. Crap. Bollocks. Kurt was caught out. Okay, how would he explain this to her without informing her that he had kissed her brother?

‘Oh, okay. Fine’ Kurt sighed, ‘I went round yours to watch a movie with Blaine. It’s not a big deal, it’s just I know you don’t like us being friends so I thought it would be easier to just… not tell you?’

‘If you’re just friends and it’s not a big deal, why did you lie?’

‘I just thought you’d be upset or something, and I didn’t want the drama’ Kurt explained.

‘Kurt, let me explain something to you’ Rachel pushed her hair behind her ears, and stepped towards Kurt, ‘Blaine may only be my step-brother, but we practically grew up together. He got bullied at his school before Dalton, and I had to deal with him coming home crying everyday. I don’t need that again, I’ve got Glee to focus on, and all my clubs and I can’t be distracted’

‘So what you’re saying is you don’t want him hanging out with me because he’ll get bullied if he does?’ Kurt asked.

‘Yes, I love you Kurt but I don’t want him to get hurt’ Rachel smiled sadly

‘So it’s okay for me to get bullied?’ Kurt asked, not giving Rachel time to answer, ‘You know what Rachel? For such a caring sister, you’re pretty fucking oblivious. It’s already happening, Blaine’s already had trouble from Karofsky, and I was there for him. You know? Supporting him, giving him a shoulder to cry on and all that. I mean, I have no idea what that’s like, getting support from your friends, but I thought it would a nice change for him’ Kurt adjusted his bag on his shoulder, ‘And you know what Rach? I love you too, and you’re my friend. But Blaine’s been a better friend to me in the last week than most of you and the Glee kids have been all year. You all think that I can deal with all this stuff, and that I’m okay but you never even ask’

‘Kurt I’m-‘

‘Rach I don’t wanna hear it. Blaine and I are friends and you’re just going to have to accept it’ Kurt walked past her and headed to homeroom.

He understood where she was coming from, he’d said the same thing to Blaine the other day. But the fact is, Kurt needed Blaine. He needed someone to talk to.

Didn’t everyone? And he wasn’t going to give it up without a fight. Kurt needed those stupid Christmas movies, and the late night phone calls, and the coffee dates and the hugs at the end of the day, and more than anything Kurt needed a friend, and Blaine was that a more.

Kurt walked into homeroom, and sat next to Blaine.

‘Ahhh, I could get use to this’ Blaine said, as Kurt placed the coffee down. ‘A cute boy bringing me coffee in the morning’

Kurt just remained silent. He didn’t know whether to tell Blaine about what just happened. What if he got scared and stopped being Kurt’s friend.

‘Hey Kurt, are you okay?’ Blaine asked, reaching over and touching Kurt’s arm.

‘Yeah I’m fine’ Kurt replied, avoiding looking at Blaine.

‘Hey I need to get my books out of my car, come with me? Blaine asked. Blaine stood up and Kurt followed.

When they got to Blaine’s car, Blaine walked straight by it and into a small set of trees on the outskirts of the school grounds.

‘Where are we going?’ Kurt sighed, he wasn’t in the mood for this.

As they walked into the small clearing, Blaine turned round and faced Kurt.

‘What’s wrong?’ Blaine asked again.

‘Nothing, Blaine. I’m fine. Leave it’ Kurt was getting frustrated.

‘Something is obviously wrong Kurt, just tell me’ Blaine stepped closer to Kurt and took hold of his hand.

‘Just fucking drop it Blaine’ Kurt let go of Blaine’s hand and went to turn away.

‘Hey’ Blaine grabbed Kurt’s shoulder and turned him around, ‘What is up with you?’

‘I’m not going to lose you okay?’ Kurt said.

‘What? What are you talking about?’ Blaine asked, confusion in his eyes.

‘I’m scared, okay? I know we’ve only been friends for a week or whatever, but I’m scared. Rachel’s right, you shouldn’t be friends with me Blaine.

Your life would be so much easier without me. But I’m selfish, I’m so fucking selfish. I just don’t want to give up the movie nights, and the coffee’s and your stupid smile and the kisses, and I’m scared. Because you could walk away at any moment and be fine, but I wouldn’t be. I just wouldn’t be’ Kurt sighed, balling up his cardigan in his hands, and wiping away the tears that had gathered in his eyes.

‘I wouldn’t be fine’ Blaine mumbled.

‘Yeah whatever’ Kurt replied sarcastically.

‘Kurt, don’t be like that’ Blaine took Kurt’s hand again, hoping that Kurt would let him hold it, and he did, ‘I’m kind of upset actually’

Kurt just remained silent and Blaine continued, ‘One, Rachel’s obviously had a go at you and I’m sorry about that but I thought we established

that Rachel can be a tad melodramatic, and this’ he gestured between both of them with his free hand, ‘is really important to me. I’m not giving it up either.’

He rubbed his thumb over Kurt’s palm, and Kurt finally looked up at Blaine, ‘And two, I was under the illusion that we were more than friends’ Blaine smiled.

‘You don’t mean that, you don’t want that.’ Kurt stumbled over his words.

‘Why’s that?’ Blaine asked.

‘I’m not good for you, Blaine. I’m not worth the hassle’

‘I have to disagree with that. You certainly are worth the hassle. You are worth all the Dave Karofsky’s in the world. You are worth all the Slushies

and all of Rachel’s dramatics.’ Blaine moved closer to Kurt, until their foreheads where almost touching. ‘Why won’t you believe me?’ Blaine whispered.

‘I’m not worth anything’ Kurt mumbled.

Blaine leaned in a kissed Kurt with more passion than he had ever done before. He wanted to tell Kurt all the things he liked about him,

all the reasons why Blaine wanted to spend any free time he had with Kurt, all the times Kurt had made him smile, but he couldn’t. So he kissed him

hoping this one silly kiss would let Kurt know that unless Kurt moved to freaking Narnia and refused to speak to Blaine, Blaine wasn’t giving this up.

Kurt pulled away.

‘So,’ Blaine asked, ‘Can we stop the crying?’ He reached up and wiped one of the tears of Kurt’s cheek, ‘And can I ask you for a favour?’

‘Hmm, depends what it is’ Kurt smiled.

‘Well, I know I’m a dork, and I talk too much and I watch stupid movies and listen to weird music and I know that you are way out of my league’

Kurt scoffed, ‘You haven’t asked me for that favour yet Anderson’

‘Be my boyfriend?’

‘What? Are.. Are you joking? Kurt asked.

‘No. Not at all.’ Blaine replied, ‘So, will you be my boyfriend then Hummel?’

‘Of course’

Kurt laughed and threw his arms around Blaine’s neck.

‘Oh god’ Blaine sighed.

‘What? Have you changed your mind?’ Kurt asked, voice filled with worry as he pulled back and looked at Blaine.

‘We’ll have to tell Rachel’ Blaine said.

‘Bagsy not me!’ Kurt giggled and ran away.

‘No, not fair Hummel’ Blaine ran after Kurt and grabbed him by the waist.

‘Hey, respect the rules of bagsy’ Kurt said.

‘Okay, Fiiiine’ Blaine said, ‘On one condition’

‘Yes?’ Kurt asked.

‘Kiss me’ Blaine smiled, and Blaine could of sworn his heart nearly exploded when Kurt leaned in a softly kissed him on the lips.
