Blaine got back from Kurt’s a bit late, and once he got home made his way to the kitchen to get a drink. Kurt had made them dinner and they just sat and watched ’Amelie’. It was one of Kurt’s favourite films, and Blaine didn’t really care what they watched.

‘You’re back late’ Rachel stated, walking into the kitchen and sitting at the breakfast bar.

‘Uh yeah, sorry’ Blaine said, shutting the fridge door and making his way upstairs.

‘Where were you?’ Rachel asked, following him.

‘I went to Kurt’s’ Blaine replied, walking into his room and leaving the door open, because he knew Rachel wouldn’t drop it.

‘Kurt’s? Kurt Hummel?’ She asked confused, Blaine nodded taking a sip of his coke and putting it on his bedside table, ‘Why?’ She continued.

‘I bumped into him at the Lima Bean and we just went round his to watch a movie’ Blaine explained.

‘But he’s my friend’ Rachel stared at Blaine, eyes filled with confusion.

‘Rach, come on. He was just being nice, he’s kind of my friend too.’ Blaine was trying not to get annoyed.

‘Blaine. He’s my friend. Don’t do this to me’. Rachel said, getting upset.

‘Do what to you?’ Blaine questioned. Seriously, what the hell? He’d only made one friend at his new school and his sister was trying to take that away from him.

‘Don’t try and steal my friends Blaine.’ Rachel glared at him, ‘This is my school okay Blaine? and they are my friends? You don’t even want to be in Glee club!’ Rachel was clearly angry, but Blaine couldn’t care less.

‘Oh for fuck’s sake Rachel’ Blaine sighed, ‘I’m going to audition for Glee tomorrow actually, Kurt helped me pick out a song.’

‘Oh your best friend Kurt helped you pick out a song? Brilliant, that’s brilliant’ Rachel turned around and slammed the door shut.

Blaine just sat on his bed in silence for a bit. After a while, he gave up and realised how late it was. He jumped in the shower, and when he got back to his room, his phone buzzed.

I had fun today. Thanks x Kurt.

Blaine typed out a message quickly before turning off his light and trying to get some sleep.

Me too. We should do it again. And don’t thank me, it’s what friends are for, right?? xx

Kurt got to school early, he always did. He’d get to school about half an hour before everyone else to avoid the busy hallyways, filled with students and more importantly jocks. He sat in homeroom, and was suprised when Rachel walked into his homeroom so early.

‘Rach, you’re in early’ Kurt commented, as Rachel sat in a desk next to him.

‘Why are you hanging out with my brother?’ Rachel asked.

‘I, erm, I bumped into him at the coffee shop’ Kurt mumbled, ‘I don’t know. I was bored and he didn’t have to be home so I just invited him round.’

‘Are you like friends with him?’ Rachel questioned.

‘I guess’ Kurt replied.

Blaine walked in to home room, and looked suitably confused and scared at the sight of Rachel and Kurt talking.

‘I better go’ Rachel said, ‘I’ll be late for home room’. Rachel picked up her bag, and walked straight by Blaine.

‘Uh Morning’ Blaine said, sitting down in the desk where Rachel sat only a minute ago.

‘Hey’ Kurt said.

‘So that’s why she wanted to be in early’ Blaine mused

‘What?’

‘Rachel woke me up earlier today and said she needed to get into school early. She wanted to interrogate you’ Blaine smiled.

‘Oh yeah, she kind of did’ Kurt smiled back.

‘Sorry about that.’ Blaine looked down at the desk, and remained silent for a bit. ‘Look I get it,’ Blaine said finally looking at Kurt,’Rachel can be kind of demanding and believe me I know how difficult she can be, so I get it’ Blaine said.

‘Get what?’ Kurt asked, honestly Kurt had no idea what Blaine was talking about.

‘If you don’t want to hang out anymore’ Blaine explained.

Kurt just laughed.

‘what’s funny?’ Blaine asked, because seriously the idea of not hanging out with Kurt anymore wasn’t funny to him, so why the hell was Kurt laughing?!

‘I thought that you’d be use to Rachel’s dramatics, considering you live with her’ Kurt giggled, ‘She’ll get over it, Blaine’

‘What?’

‘She’ll get over it, Blaine. I wouldn’t worry’ Kurt just continued to smile.

‘What are you saying?’

‘We can still be friends. I’m not going to just stop being friends with you because Rachel Anderson-Berry has one of her daily fits’

‘Really?’ Blaine asked, because he was so used to Rachel getting her own way, that this came as a bit of a shock to him.

‘Yes really.’ Kurt smiled, ‘Come on’ he said picking up his satchel, ‘we can probably get a coffee from the canteen before everyone turns up’

‘Coffee. Yes. That sounds like a brilliant idea’ Blaine laughed.

‘You’re such a dork.’ Kurt nudged Blaine as they walked side by side down the hallway.

‘Oh that I know’ Blaine said.

‘You ready for your audition later?’ Kurt asked.

‘Uh as ready as I’ll ever be.’ Blaine adjusted the strap of his bag on his shoulder, and Kurt could tell he was worried.

‘Hey we can practice at lunch if you want? I know one of the music rooms will be free, I normally eat my lunch in there. I could help you practice if you want?’ Kurt offered

‘Really? That would be amazing’

‘Yeah of course. It would be nice to have some company, and also you know, ‘that’s what friends are for’ and all that’ Kurt smiled.

‘Oh shut up.’
