‘KURT’ Finn screamed, ‘KUUUUUUURT DINNER’

Kurt got up off the bed, and tried to compose himself. He and Blaine had been kissing for, Kurt checked his watch, okay a while now and he needed to get himself together before going up to dinner.

‘KURT’

‘FINN, JESUS CHRIST I’M COMING’

Blaine sniggered, ‘What’s so funny?’ Kurt turned to face Blaine who was still sitting on the bed.

‘That’s what she said’ Kurt glared at him, ‘Or what he said. I guess.’

‘You are so annoying. Come on, time to meet the family.’ Kurt offered his hand out to Blaine, who took it and followed Kurt up the stairs into the kitchen.

‘Dad, Carole, this is Blaine. Blaine,’ Kurt pointed, ‘Dad, Carole’ and Kurt sat down. Blaine walked over to Burt and shook his hand,

‘Hi I’m Blaine, I go to McKinley with Kurt.’

‘And me’ Finn pointed out.

‘Ah yes, and Finn. I’m in Glee club too’ Blaine walked over to sit next to Kurt.

‘Oh, that’s nice. Kurt doesn’t tell us a lot, so you’ll have to catch us up.’ Kurt glared across the table. Kurt was in hell. Blaine had only been his boyfriend for a few hours and he was already getting interrogated by his father. Blaine would run. Run away, and never return.

‘Oh well, I’m 17 too. I live down the road from here actually about 20 minutes, erm I’m Rachel’s brother’.

‘Kid, tell us about you.’ Burt smiled, taking a swig of his beer.

‘Oh erm okay. I like music, a lot. I’m into the classics, and I like basketball, I used to play but not so much anymore. Have I missed anything out?’

Blaine turned to Kurt, who was just looking at him with an amused expression on his face.

‘Addiction to coffee’ Kurt pointed out.

‘It’s not an addiction’ Blaine looked to Burt, ‘Just a heavy reliance’

‘Kurt’s the same’ Burt shrugged. ‘Classics?’ Burt asked

‘Oh yeah, I love Dylan and Cash and recently I’ve been listening to a lot of Nick Drake’

‘Oh Burt loves Johnny Cash, he’s got all his LPs’ Carole interjected

‘Really? I’d love to listen to them’ Blaine smiled, yes he had something in common with Kurt’s rather intimidating dad.

‘Anytime, kid’ Burt smiled back. Maybe this Blaine kid wasn’t so bad.

The rest of the dinner passed with no real interruptions. Finn talked about Football, and Kurt spoke about the new issue of Vogue, and Blaine was pretty much silent unless someone asked him a direct question. After dinner, Blaine helped Kurt clean up, and Finn went upstairs as he usually did because eating was a pretty big activity for Finn and he always needed to rest after dinner.

Just as Kurt shut the dishwasher, and as Blaine was putting cups back into the cupboard, Finn walked back into the Kitchen, and walked straight over to Blaine.

‘What the hell?’ Finn asked.

Blaine took two steps back.

‘I could ask you the same Finn, what’s your problem?’ Kurt moved to stand in between his boyfriend and the suddenly not so friendly giant.

‘You two are like together now? You didn’t tell me? You’ve only known Kurt for a week, what’s your deal?’

‘Hey Finn, back off’ Kurt stepped towards Finn, ‘It’s actually none of your business. Let me guess, Rachel called you?’

‘She texted me actually, I don’t trust the guy’.

‘You don’t know him!’ Kurt argued.

‘Exactly, it’s sort of why I don’t trust him’

‘Finn look, sorry we didn’t tell you or wh-‘

‘Dude, I don’t care. Shut up.’

‘Don’t tell him to shut up. We’ve been going out for like 8 hours. Back off’ Kurt took Blaine’s hand and went to walk out of the kitchen.

‘I’ll tell Burt.’

‘Fine. Go ahead. Do your worst, I was going to tell him myself after Blaine left, but if you want to behave like over grown,’ that’s putting it

lightly, Kurt thought, ‘child then go ahead.’

——-

Finn didn’t tell Burt, but he was obviously pissed off. Whatever, Kurt couldn’t care less. Blaine left shortly after, and Kurt apologised for Finn’s sudden outburst. Blaine shrugged it off, ‘He’s your brother, he’s worried about you. It’s fine. I was the same when Rachel brought him home.’

Kurt told Burt about Blaine, but Burt laughed and asked, ‘Did you think I didn’t know?’ Burt reminded Kurt that the last person he invited round the house was Mercedes, and that was a big deal. Kurt didn’t like people in his house, it was his place, you know? And Mercedes hasn’t been round again.

‘The minute you asked me if he could come round, I kind of assumed’ Burt shrugged it off and walked into the kitchen.

Well that was easy.

———

The next week passed by in a blur of classes, and glee club, and coffee dates, and tender kisses before school. Blaine had just left after meeting Kurt at the Lima Bean for a coffee, when he pulled into the house and noticed a car in the drive. He figured it was one of Rachel’s vocal coaches, or a cleaner or something and paid no real attention to it. That is until he walked into the kitchen and saw Sebastian.

‘Blaine’, Sebsatian smiled as he stood and walked over to Blaine and wrapped his arms around him.

Blaine glared over his shoulder to see Rachel sitting on the side of the counter, smiling, and mouthed, ‘What the hell?’

‘Err, what are you doing here Sebastian?’ Blaine asked, pulling out of the hug.

‘Rachel invited me round, thought we could do a movie night. Catch up you know? It’s been a while B.’

Ugh. Blaine always hated it when Sebastian called him B.

‘Yeah I’ve missed our movie nights, so I thought I’d organise a little one’ Rachel said, jumping off the counter, ‘There’s popcorn in the microwave, and I’ve got some wine coolers’

‘I’ll go pick out a dvd?’ Sebastion offered, feeling the tension in the room but at the same time not caring. It annoyed Blaine how at ease Sebastian felt in his house.

‘What the actual fuck Rachel?’ Blaine said under his breath, ‘What are you doing?’

‘I just thought it’s been so long since you’ve seen him that it might be a good idea to catch up.’ Rachel smiled, obviously happy at how whatever sick game she was playing was turning out.

‘I don’t want to catch up with him. We broke up months ago. I don’t want to spend an evening with my ex boyfriend, for fuck’s sake Rachel!’ Blaine groaned.

‘Hey, I miss him you know, he used to spend so much time around here.’ Rachel said, ‘And I know you probably don’t want to spend the evening with your ex-boyfriend’

Blaine noticed the change in Rachel’s tone, and he was suddenly extremely nervous.

‘What have you done?’ Blaine asked, not really knowing if he truly wanted to know the answer.

‘I invited Kurt. You know so you could spend the evening with your current boyfriend.’

The doorbell rang, and Blaine turned round with such speed he wondered for a minute if he had just given himself whiplash.

‘Oh wait? Did you not tell Kurt about Sebastian?’ Rachel feigned concern, ‘Oh no. I’ve really got you into a pickle here.’

The doorbell rang again, ‘Oh I better get that’.

And with that Rachel flounced off to let Kurt in. Blaine was in hell, Kurt would assume the worst and get upset and they’d only been dating for a week and Sebastian was an arse at the best of times, he wouldn’t be happy to meet Blaine’s new boyfriend.

Blaine couldn’t get one thought out of his mind though, he kept wondering, ‘How could I kill my sister and not go to jail?’

With that Kurt walked into the kitchen with a huge smile on his face, which Blaine tried to savour because he knew it would soon be gone.
