Chapter 24:

"I don't think she's here, Cooper -- you said it was a blue, '59 Chevy right?"

Cooper nodded, not taking his eyes off of the cars they drove past as they made their way through the parking lot of one rest stop. They'd been driving for about an hour or so but had not had any success in locating Jenna or Blaine.

"Let's try the next one then." said Kurt, sighing as he grabbed the map.

Hang on, Blaine...please hang on...We're coming.

---

Blaine was seeing double.

He couldn't understand what his mother was saying as he saw her...or both of her...whatever...pull out the syringe again.

He fell to his knees and threw up again, not even noticing the sting of the syringe needle penetrating his skin again.

When he lost consciousness this time, it was to Jenna tying his wrists together and attaching whatever she'd used to something to secure him.

She was singing a lullaby as she worked.

---

"There it is!" Kurt screamed, scaring Cooper so badly he almost veered out of the lane he was in and into a truck in the next lane.

Kurt pointed frantically at the side of the road. A blue, '59 Chevy was parked just off of the highway. Cooper felt fear, mingled with relief seeping into his body as he pulled over and parked behind it.

He was the first out of the car, and the first to look in the trunk, which had been left open.

Kurt cried out when he joined his boyfriend's brother and looked at the interior of the trunk.

There were bloodstains on the floor of the trunk. Jenna had kept him in there.

Cooper was going to kill her.

The problem was, she was nowhere in sight, and neither was Blaine.

"They have to be around here somewhere." Kurt gasped, looking around at the trees frantically. "They have to --"

"We'll find him." Cooper inhaled sharply and gripped the teen's hand. "They can't get far -- not on foot and with Blaine -- " he swallowed the lump in his throat. He couldn't cry. He just couldn't. "Come on."

They hurried off.

---

Cooper sighed and zipped up his suitcase. It was official: he was moving to Los Angeles. He'd been signed on to do a few low budget commercials. It wasn't a big Hollywood movie, but he'd make do.

His plane was supposed to leave in two hours. Blaine was going to call him from the Sadie Hawkins Dance he was at with his friend James, who was also gay, and give him the details.

It was nine forty-five. He hadn't called yet.

Cooper brushed it off as thinking Blaine and James were probably making out behind the school bleachers in the football field. (Rediculous as Blaine drilled it into his head that they were friends -- nothing more. Still, teasing was a must when it came to being a big brother.)

At ten-thirty, he started getting worried. He had his phone out in the cab he was taking from Westerville to Port Columbus International Airport.

He'd dialled Blaine's cell at least five times, and got nothing but voicemail.

When his phone vibrated as he was getting in line to board, he nearly had a heart attack.

It was his grandmother.

"Grandma, have you been able to get ahold of Blaine? He's not picking up his cell --"

Wait...was she crying?

"Coop there's a reason," she sobbed. "He's in the hospital. He was -- He and James were -- these three boys, they --"

He didn't think he'd ever run so fast in his life as he bolted from the terminal and hailed a cab, nearly screaming for the driver to take him back to Westerville.

Cooper took several deep breaths as he made his way through the trees. He was trying to stay calm. If he saw Jenna, there was no telling what he could do.

He certainly felt like ripping her apart, but that wouldn't help matters.

Just then he heard Kurt scream.

"Blaine! Cooper I found him!"

He turned and broke into a run.

---

Kurt thought he was dreaming.

There was no way that was Blaine. The boy with the dark curls, blood smeared across his forehead, clothing dirty and ripped. His face was dirty and scratched. He was barely conscious, and tied to a tree.

"Blaine!" he screamed, forgetting that his boyfriend's psychotic mother was probably nearby. He ran over to the other teen and cupped his face in his hands. "Cooper I found him!"

Blaine stirred, and Kurt felt panic begin to seep in; he was barely breathing.

Hazel eyes already half open, struggled to lift lids even more.

"K..." he mumbled. "K..t..."

"It's me darling," Kurt whispered, tears beginning to flow. "It's me. You're safe now, Blaine. It's okay."

"N..ck...n..ck." Blaine whispered. "hurts."

"Blaine!"

Kurt turned just in time to see Cooper crashing through the trees, face white when he saw the state his brother was in.

"Untie him," Kurt begged, "He -- I think something's wrong -- he's so weak -- he said something about his neck --"

Cooper ran over and began working at the knots around Blaine's wrists, eventually freeing him. Blaine fell forward, into Kurt's arms. Cooper quickly checked the back of his little brother's neck.

"He has needle marks," he growled angrily, fingers trembling as they brushed against the back of Blaine's neck. "She drugged him."

Kurt was shaking.

Blaine gave Cooper a small smile.

"H...i C-Coo..." he said softly.

Cooper smiled and reached over to gently stroke the teen's hair.

"Hi buddy." he replied. "We're going to get you out of here okay? She'll never touch you again -- I promise."

"What the hell are you two doing?!"

Cooper froze, and Kurt felt Blaine start shaking.

Jenna had walked into the area, and she didn't look happy.
