Chapter 22:

"What do you mean, you know where she's going?!" Cooper cried, staring at Thomas. "I -- Oh my God." Realization quickly flooded every part of his body, suffocating his ability to think or act rationally. "You were in on it! You helped her!" he shrieked, and lunged, only to be caught by Colin and held back. "Let me go!"

"Cooper that's not going to help!" yelled Colin. "Now sit down and let's calmly hear what your father has to say!"

Cooper inhaled sharply, eyes burning with hatred as he stared at his father and dropped onto the floor.

"I didn't know she was going to kidnap him," said Thomas. "I thought she just wanted to talk to Blaine -- When I came by her hotel room and saw him --"

"Wait." Colin interrupted. "You knew where she was and where she had your son and you never said anything?!"

"He hasn't been a father in fourteen years," snapped Cooper, "Why should he start now?"

Heather shot her grandson a stern look and he stared at the carpet.

"I didn't think she was that unstable -- I thought if I gave her time to see her stupidity, she'd let him go."

"You were married to her for ten years, Thomas." said Heather. "You knew how unstable she could get." she sighed. "Where is she taking him first?"

He looked over at his mother.

"Indianapolis."

Just then there was a knock at the door. Cooper sighed.

"That would be Kurt. I'll let him in."

---

The first thing Blaine was aware of when he woke up later was that his head was hurting him -- badly. He lifted a trembling hand to his temple and a soft whimper left his throat when he felt dry blood on his skin.

When he looked up, despite the aching pain in his neck that was back (She must have drugged me again was the thought) his heart stopped. All he could see was a trunk lid.

He could feel the ground moving under him.

Oh God. I'm in a car. I'm in a car and she's taking me to California. No. No, no, no, no.

Blaine wanted to scream. He wanted to hit the trunk lid until his knuckles bled.

Unfortunately he felt too weak to do either.

All he could hope for was that Jenna did something idiotic enough to get pulled over by the police.

---

"Wait what do you mean, he was in on it?" Kurt hissed as Cooper pulled him into the hallway after giving him a quick recap of what his father had told him and his grandparents.

"He didn't do the exact kidnapping but he sure as hell didn't stop her or report her when he saw she had Blaine." Cooper growled. "C'mon."

He led the teen into the now empty living room and they both sat down.

"He says she's taking Blaine to Indianapolis." he said.Kurt was silent for a moment. Cooper couldn't really read the expression on his face.

"Let's go." he said finally.

Cooper's jaw dropped and he reached over to grab the countertenor's arm when he tried to get up.

"Kurt we don't know what route she took, we don't know what kind of car she has --"

"She has the '59 Chevy."

Thomas was standing in the hallway, watching his son and his younger son's boyfriend aprehensively.

Cooper froze. He knew the car building experience had been hell for Blaine, but for their father to actually --

"You gave her. the '59 Chevy." he inhaled through his nose. "I -- Get out. Just get out now."

Thomas didn't need telling twice. His son didn't relax until he heard a car engine start, and then fade as he pulled out of the driveway and drove off.

"I'm going to make a call. Tell the police --"

"No!" said Kurt abruptly as he got to his feet. "You said if she knew we were on to her, she could kill him!"

"We don't even know what route she took --"

"I-70 West goes right into Indiana!"

"Kurt --"

"No!" the teen cried again. "Cooper please --"

Cooper fell silent, and closed his eyes briefly before getting to his feet and grabbing his keys.

"Let's go."

Oh my gosh these short installments are killing me!!! Please let us see Kurt rescuing Blaine!!!

I'm going to Indianapolis tomorrow. I'll help look for Blainers c; haha, but I really love this story.

PANIC ATTACK. BLAINE!! NOOOOO!!!

Just...my heart...

I bet Cooper and Kurt can be quite a formidable team indeed. I hope they get there and kick @ss! It's so interesting how you made Blaine's dad such a clueless deadbeat rather than an actively abusive parent - it's a new and original portrayal that I've never seen in fic before. Aaargh, Blaine is hurt and trapped in a trunk! And it's the trunk of the car that his dad made him build against his will. So much angst! Somebody stop that woman....
