Author's Notes: Once again I apologize for the lack of update -- horrible writer's block and just life in general getting in the way. I do hope you all enjoy this chapter.
Chapter 9:

"What the hell is wrong with you?!"

Sebastian held up his hands in self-defense, glaring at Sam.

"I sang a song to audition for this glee club. Thought that was obvious -- kind of like the bad dye job you call your hair."

Sam's eyes narrowed.

"I don't dye my hair." he said vehemently.

"Give me a break, everyone knows it." Sebastian folded his arms, returning the glare the other senior was giving him. "Face facts, okay Sam? If Mr. Schuester said I'm in, I'm in -- right?" he looked over at the glee coach, who nodded.

"Absolutely." he said. "Welcome to New Directions, Sebastian."

--

Are you okay? Did he --? I can fly home and kick his ass if you want.

Blaine laughed and wiped at his eyes, leaning against an empty desk in the Home Ec classroom.

"I-I'm fine, I just wish he'd have picked a different song. It -- It brought up a lot of memories."

He heard Kurt sigh.

I'm sorry. I wish I was there right now. Then Kurt swore loudly. Rachel I'll be there in a minute! I'm sorry I have more important things on my mind than telling you about my day so you can live vicariously through me!

He laughed weakly.

"It's okay, Kurt." he exhaled and closed his eyes for a moment. "I should go...they're probably thinking the worst and I don't really need them to kill Sebastian before we win Sectionals."

Okay. I love you.

"I love you too. Say hi to Rachel for me."

I will. Bye.

"Bye."

Blaine hung up, pocketed his phone and headed back to the choir room.

--

"You didn't have to sing that."

"I know."

Blaine grabbed a notebook he'd forgotten about out of his locker and shoved it into his bag as Sebastian watched.

"I don't go around talking about my personal problems in front of everyone in glee club, Sebastian."

Sebastian sighed.

"I -- I just wanted to try to help you. I didn't think it'd have that kind of effect."

Blaine was quiet for a moment.

"I don't want your help if you're going to do something like that." he said quietly.

"Blaine --"

He was cut off by the sound of his friend's locker door slamming shut. Blaine said nothing, but picked up his bag and walked down the hall and out of the building.

--

He was surprised to find his grandmother waiting for him when he walked out of school after Glee had ended (with Sam and Sebastian nearly coming to blows over song choices -- freaking fantastic).

"I drove here," he said, confused when he approached the passenger side of her car.

"I know," Heather replied. "Your grandfather's driving your car back home. You're coming with me."

Blaine didn't move.

"Where?"

She sighed.

"You'll see, just get in the car, okay?"

It took him a few moments but then he did, staring silently at his hands in his lap as Heather pulled out of the parking lot.

He didn't expect them to pull up at the one place he'd never wanted to come, had put his foot down the minute his father had been sentenced.

"I'm not going in there." he said stonily, folding his arms. "I don't want to talk to him."

Heather shook her head."Like it or not, we are, and you're going to talk to him. Blaine, you're scaring your grandpa and I. You need this."

"No, what I need is for everyone to leave me the hell alone." he snapped.

Heather's eyes widened. Blaine rarely talked back to her, or to Colin. There hadn't been a real argument in a long time -- not since he'd been put in therapy the first time following the Sadie Hawkins ordeal.

And he normally didn't swear.

"Blaine we're not arguing about this." she said firmly. "Your dad agreed, and you'll go in there with me now, or I'll extend your grounding and take away the five minute calls with Kurt."

He threw her a dirty look before getting out of the car and slamming the door so hard it was a miracle it didn't pop right off of the car itself.

"Fine. Let's get this over with."

---

They didn't have to wait long for Thomas to be brought in. Blaine didn't look at him, didn't say a word.

"Hey Blaine." Thomas said hesitantly.

Nothing. No response. He saw his mother elbow his son in what was clearly supposed to be a subtle way but failed greatly.

"Hey." came the cold reply.

"I'm glad you're here." he tried again.

"Yeah. Sure. Whatever." Blaine looked up, eyes narrowed. "I haven't forgotten anything, you know. I haven't forgotten that you put the idea in her head to come here, that you didn't report her when you met her at the motel and saw that she had me. I haven't forgotten that you didn't do shit until it was too late. If this is supposed to make me see that you cared at all, I'm not buying it. You abandoning Cooper and I -- leaving us to deal with her -- that says otherwise."

"This isn't about that." Thomas leaned forward over the metal table that separated them. "This is about how you've been dealing --"

Blaine let out an incredulous laugh before looking at his grandmother.

"Oh okay, so your solution is to have him talk to me? Him?! Of all people?! How stupid are you?!" he cried. He'd be in so much trouble later, but he was too angry to care. "Let's just face facts! You and grandpa don't care, he doesn't care, Cooper's head is so far up his ass with his new movie that he can't see that he's the only person besides Kurt that I want to talk to, and New Directions is only concerned with Sectionals! But hey, let's have the guy who abandoned both of his sons talk to me because hey, he knows what I went through. He doesn't know anything!" He was out of his seat in a flash.

Heather glanced at Thomas, who looked stunned by the teen's outburst. She was surprised too -- at least, that it had taken so long for him to have an outburst this bad.She wasn't sure if they should schedule another emergency session with Dr. Collins.

"Blaine," Thomas said quietly, masking his surprise when the teen turned away from the table to head for the door. He stopped, and his father felt a tiny bit of relief. He may be a horrible father but he could at least attempt to get through to the boy. "Let's face facts okay? I am a screw up -- and I'm definitely a coward...and I will always regret that I left you and Cooper. I'm fine with not having a relationship with either of you because I know I deserve that. I just -- I want to try to help you, because I don't want you to get hurt. Nobody wants that."

Blaine choked back a sob, collapsing onto the floor. Heather knelt down next to him and pulled him into a hug.

"I think it's time we went home, okay?" she whispered, before looking back up at her son. "Thank you."

He nodded.

"You're welcome."

--

"So I hear your grandma took you to see your dad."

"Yeah."

Lita arched an eyebrow, surprised. Blaine wasn't trying to avoid her questions like he usually did. He was being responsive.

"How'd that go?" she asked, making a note on the clipboard in her lap.

"It was hell." he said bluntly.

"Yeah? What'd you talk about?" she asked.

"Not much." Ah. There was the typical Blaine she saw during the hour long sessions.

"Yeah? Did it help?"

"How does screaming at your absent father who was an accessory to your own kidnapping by your psychotic mother help anything?"

Lita nearly smiled. It meant Blaine was trying to talk about his problems instead of bottling them in."It's helping you. Look, I know you think you can only talk about these things with your brother, because he dealt with your mother too. But even having an emotional outburst like that is a sign that you're trying to deal with it in a healthy way rather than self-destructive." Lita paused. "Have you talked to Cooper recently?"

Blaine stared at the floor.

"No. We had a fight after he set up the unscheduled session and I ran out."

She sighed.

"He was just trying to help you."

"I know. I was angry. I'm still angry, and I --" he ran a hand through his curls. "I don't know if I can do this anymore."

"I think you should talk to him. I can sit down with both of you if you want."

He rolled his eyes."Like that'd help anything." he said sourly, and then he sighed. "I'll call him...see if that'll work. Don't hold your breath -- he won't leave that movie set for anything. Can I go?"

Lita supressed the urge to groan.

"Yeah. I'll see you tomorrow after school okay?"

"Okay."
