At seven o’clock on the dot, the Andersons’ doorbell rang. Blaine practically ran down the stairs to answer because, as much as he wasn’t looking forward to this prom, he couldn’t resist the thought of Kurt Hummel in a tux. When Blaine got to the bottom of the stairs in the entryway and threw the door open, he stopped breathing. There in front of him, was Kurt, his Kurt, in a gorgeous tuxedo, corsage in hand, and completely bald. Blaine stood in front of his boyfriend, his mouth parted slightly in shock, and he felt his hand move to touch the soft skin where Kurt’s hair had been only just that morning. His eyes filled with tears.
“What do you think?” Kurt asked nervously. Blaine continued to stroke the smooth skin on the top of Kurt’s head. It was as if the world was moving in slow motion. And then, as if someone had pressed the play button on the remote, Blaine quickly pulled Kurt into the tightest embrace he had ever given him. Both boys were crying now. “I take it you like it then,” Kurt said without letting go.
“Like it?” Blaine said, barely audibly as he let go of Kurt only enough to look at him some more. “Kurt, I don’t know what to say. You’re so, so breathtakingly beautiful.”
“So are you.” Kurt wiped a tear from Blaine’s cheek with his thumb.
Hand in hand, the two boys walked into the McKinley High prom, heads held high. As they danced the night away, they were oblivious to the watchful eyes surrounding them. Oh sure, people stared, just as Blaine had predicted. But what he didn’t realize was that they stared mostly out of pure jealousy. He and Kurt were the perfect couple, after all.
