“God, I’ve missed you,” Blaine said and Kurt smiled.
“Yeah, those five minutes felt like forever,” Kurt whined and frowned before breaking into a grin. Blaine held his boyfriend closer and rested his head in the crook of his neck.
“Sorry if I don’t like being away from you,” said Blaine, his voice muffled. Blaine began to squeeze Kurt as tight as he could. “I just love you so much!” Kurt began to laugh breathlessly.
“Why do I feel like this is the opening for an episode of Scorned?” Kurt asked and Blaine chuckled softly as he released Kurt from his grip. He left his hands on Kurt’s waist and Kurt placed his behind Blaine’s neck. Blaine liked this- being in Central Park with Kurt and having nowhere to be but in each other’s arms.
Kurt leaned forward and placed a delicate peck on Blaine’s lips. “Can we just stay here? Forever?” Blaine smiled at him.
“As you wish,” said Blaine. He lowered his hands to Kurt’s and began to pull him along.
“Where are we going?” Kurt asked, sounding confused, amused, and a little excited. Blaine kept dragging the boy along until he stopped at a bench. Blaine extended his arms toward the bench and grinned widely.
“What do you think?”
“What?” asked Kurt, completely dumbfounded.
“You’re right, too small.” Blaine grabbed Kurt’s hand again and pulled him to yet another bench. “Is this better?”
“Blaine, what are you doing?” Kurt asked, strangely enjoying the other boy’s bizarreness.
“Too true. This one is also unworthy of your touch, my love.” Kurt stared at Blaine like he was insane and Blaine jumped on the bench. Passersby began to stop and stare at Blaine, but he didn’t mind. “My prince deserves the best!” he cried out and pointed to Kurt.
“Blaine,” Kurt said and pulled his boyfriend down. “What on earth are you doing?” Blaine put his hands on Kurt’s shoulders and looked into the boy’s eyes with concern.
“Babe, you said you wanted to stay here, right?” Kurt started to smile and nodded his head.
“Yes, forever.”
“Well, then we’re going to need a place to sleep.” Kurt shook his head softly and looked around them. Finally, his eyes landed on a spot a little farther down and he took Blaine’s hand before stopping in front of a bench where a squirrel was currently perched. “It’s perfect,” Blaine said and sat down before pulling Kurt down next to him. The squirrel instantly scurried away. “Wilson, come back!” Blaine said and Kurt laughed.
“Wilson?”
Blaine just shrugged and wrapped an arm around Kurt’s middle and Kurt leaned into Blaine’s side. Blaine then leaned forward and grabbed Kurt’s legs, placing them over his own. He sighed with content and looked around the park. “Everything the light touches is our kingdom,” said Blaine. He felt Kurt shake slightly with laughter and he looked down at the boy and placed a kiss on his forehead. Kurt looked up at him and kissed him fully, and Blaine savored the feeling.
“I love you,” Kurt said softly. Blaine kissed him again.
“I love you, too.” Kurt redirected his gaze back at the rest of the park and Blaine saw his face turn up in disgust. “I think we’re going to need to get new carpet,” Kurt said, pointing inconspicuously, and Blaine followed his finger to a dog doing his business a few feet away. Blaine tried not to laugh.
“I don’t know. I think it gives off a bit of character.”
“Blaine,” Kurt said and Blaine looked at him with an innocent grin.
“Yes?”
“Blaine,” Kurt said again, his voice becoming less calm. Kurt began to shake Blaine’s arm and Blaine looked at the other boy strangely.
“Kurt, what is it? Kurt?”
Blaine’s eyes peeled back and he looked around in a daze. He was lying in bed with the last bit of pre twilight sun streaming in through his window. He looked around his room groggily before his eyes stopped on a figure sitting at the edge of his bed. “-for dinner,” the figure finished and Blaine reached up to rub his eyes with his palms.
“What?” Blaine asked, still feeling drowsy.
“It’s time for dinner,” the voice said, and Blaine quickly dropped his hands and looked at the person sitting beside him.
“Kurt? What- when did you get here?” Kurt raised an eyebrow.
“A few hours ago. I came in here earlier and said hi.”
“Oh,” Blaine said, surprised that Kurt had wanted to say hello.
“Yeah, you said something about a prince?” Kurt said laughing slightly.
“Oh,” Blaine said again. He thought back to his dream of Kurt and himself and felt himself blush as he recalled the feel of Kurt’s lips on his own. Kurt stood up and walked over to Blaine’s door.
“Come on, Sleeping Beauty,” Kurt called. Blaine stood up and followed Kurt down stairs, but he still couldn’t shake the dream.
When they reached the dinning room, everyone else was already seated. Blaine slid into his seat beside his mother and Kurt sat across from him, next to Rachel. Blaine’s father sat at the head of the table between Rachel and their mother. Once everyone was situated, he began to lead the table in prayer.
Once he was finished, everyone began to pass around dishes and fill up their plates. Blaine’s father began to ask Rachel about school and Blaine instantly began to stuff his face, hoping that if he did, his parents wouldn’t ask him questions. Unfortunately, Blaine had no such luck.
“How were classes, B?” his father asked and Blaine sighed before swallowing his food.
“Fine,” he answered simply.
“You left in quite a hurry this morning,” he said and Blaine just shrugged.
“Any homework?” Blaine rolled his eyes as his father refilled his fork.
“Yeah, a little,” Blaine responded quickly. Blaine hated being interrogated by his father.
“Have you started it yet?”
“I will after dinner,” Blaine half groaned.
“You know, Blaine, I just want what’s best for you,” his father began and Blaine began to tune him out. It was always like this. Blaine’s father always wanted to Blaine to have the best grades. He also wanted Blaine to play sports, but was less than enthusiastic when his son had chosen singing instead. He still tried though, and made Blaine try out for football on more than one account. In fact- “You should try out for something,” his father said, still giving Blaine his speech.
“I already did,” Blaine said, putting on a false smile. Blaine’s father instantly perked up.
“That’s great, B!” he said, using Blaine’s nickname. “What’d you try out for?”
“Glee Club,” Blaine said, still smiling. “And I got in, too.” Blaine watched as his father’s smile faltered. He stared at Blaine for a moment before clearing his throat.
“I see,” was all he said.
“He was great, Mr. Anderson,” Kurt piped up. Blaine looked over at Kurt in surprise. “You should be very proud.” Blaine smiled appreciatively at Kurt. Kurt nudged his foot beneath the table in response.
“Of course I’m proud of him,” Blaine’s father was saying, but Blaine was done having this conversation. He looked back at his plate and continued eating, all the while stealing surreptitious glances at Kurt. Whenever their eyes would meet, Blaine would hold Kurt’s gaze for a moment before looking back down with a smile. You’ve got it bad, Blaine said to himself.
“Blaine,” Kurt said and Blaine’s head shot up like a rocket. “Do you maybe want to work on our project after dinner?” Was that even a question?
“Sure,” Blaine said, trying not to sound overly excited.
