“Fine, okay,” said the doctor.

Blaine observed David carefully; he was standing by Jermaine’s bedside looking concerned, Georgina was standing at her husband’s elbow. When the doctor left, their looks of concern changed into smirks of satisfaction.

“Well, that’s what he gets for choosing to be a fag,” muttered David Thoms.

“Well, it’s not a choice Mr. Thoms,” said Blaine forcefully. “He didn’t choose to be gay, and this didn’t happen because he is!”

“Shut up, you fairy. This is your fault; if you hadn’t come along you wouldn’t have made him choose to be, to be like you!” Georgina said scathingly.

“Maybe, this is slightly my fault but it’s nothing to do with me being gay! It’s not a choice - we had no say in the matter, it’s just what we are. And if you are going to be homophobic and taunt Jermaine whilst he’s in a coma, I’d appreciate it if you left… You’re not helping,” Blaine snapped.

“Mom, dad, what are we doing at the hospital? I’ve been waiting in the car for over half a hou- Oh my god, JJ, what happened?” said Grace, as she entered Jermaine’s room.

“This, Grace,” said David, gesturing to where Jermaine lay, “is what happens when you choose to be,” David Thoms gagged slightly, “gay.”

David had paled slightly and looked positively sickened by the word that had just left his mouth.

“Hi, Grace, Jermaine wa-” Blaine started, as Grace walked towards him.

“Grace Marie Thoms,” squealed Georgina Thoms, “don’t go anywhere near him!”

“He knows what’s happened to my brother and I want to know,” said Grace trying to walk closer to Blaine but her mother had a tight hold on her wrist. “Let. Me. Go. I want to talk to Blaine!”

“Come on Grace Marie, we’re leaving,” said David, assisting Georgina in attempting to escort their daughter out of the hospital room.

“I’m staying here. I want to be with my brother, I’ve missed him, and I love him regardless!” screamed Grace.

“Listen, missy, you are coming with us!” yelled David.

“No she isn’t,” said Blaine, stepping forward. “She is going to stay here and be with her brother. He could use one family member here, one who accepts him, being here when he wakes up.”

“She is not staying with two fags! She is normal,” said Georgina.

“I AM STAYING HERE!” Grace said with finality.

“No, you’re not,” said David.

“We are not having you near our daughter, boy,” said Georgina coldly. “You might make her abnormal too.”

“Yes, Mrs. Thoms, that’s my plan - to turn all your children gay! I couldn’t possibly be thinking what’s best for Jermaine, could I? Nooo, ‘cause all us gays want to do is make you all like us…” snapped Blaine. “She wants to be here for her brother. If you don’t want to be here for Jermaine then, please, leave us in peace.”

“Fine. But, Grace, don’t expect to come back to us… You can stay with the two fags!” said David as he and Georgina left the room.

With all the yelling no one had noticed that Jermaine had woken up…
