Blaine woke early; he rolled over and fell off the couch, banging against the coffee table. He got up carefully his head pounding, and sat back up on the couch. His mind spinning with the memories of last night, his heart felt heavy but he knew it needed to be done; he deserved to be safe and happy- he could see that now; he'd punished himself enough. Darren and Kelsey came running when the heard the crash, looks of panic on their faces, Darren was brandishing a lamp, defensively.
"Who's there?!" He demanded.
"It's only me Dare," said Blaine, waving him off, head in his hands.
"Is everything alright?" Darren asked when he noted Blaine's posture, putting the lamp down on the coffee table and sitting down next to him.
"We heard a loud bang..." said a Kelsey fully dressed, stood behind Darren.
"Yeah... yeah I'm fine, just fell off the couch..." said Blaine.
"Are you alright? Why are you sleeping on the couch?" Kelsey asked, sitting down on the other side, putting her arm comfortingly around him. "Did you and Tobias have a fight?"
"Well, sort of... we, we broke up..." He said, his gaze not leaving the floor.
"Oh?" said Kelsey, putting her arm around him. "I'm sorry peanut... why?"
"Well..." Blaine took a deep breath, he knew Kelsey wasn't gonna like this much, "He hit me"
"When?!?"
"The other night, when we had that fight... he was yelling at me... for, for not putting out and he started of accusing me of sleeping with Kurt... saying that I must be sleeping around. And that if I'd done it once I'd do it again" said Blaine still looking down, closing his eyes to stop the tears and taking deep calming breaths.
"Oh Peanut"
"And then... he slapped me, out of nowhere" said Blaine " and I just I had to I had to get out"
"Oh, I'm sorry Peanut"
"It's not your fault, Kels. Don't worry..." said Blaine "That room is too full of him; his pillow smells like him, I couldn't sleep in there last night. But enough about me, and my silly little issues, anything interesting happen to you last night?"
"Not particularly," Kelsey lied, hiding her left hand, she needed to be there for Blaine- She'd tell him in a few days "Went out for dinner, came back and watched 'Singing in the Rain'"
Blaine looked to Darren. Darren having picked up on what Kelsey was doing he shrugged and just mouthed 'It just wasn't the right time'. Blaine smiled softly back.
"Come on then let's get some breakfast... and later, um would you guys mind helping me get his stuff together... I'll just end up in tears again..."
"Of course we will Bee." Darren said. "How about we go make breakfast... you can teach me how to make that French toast and Berry Syrup. But first I need to go get dressed"
"I don't know..." Blaine said looking down "I don't really feel in the mood for cooking"
"Oooh.... Yes please, Blainey... Please, please, pleeeeeease" Kelsey said, giving Blaine her best puppy dog eyes.
"Oh... alright" he smiled, laughing a little "You know I can't resist that face"
She smiled to herself and sat on the couch. Blaine headed into the kitchen and Darrren to the bedroom to get dressed. Blaine started to get the ingredients out, he was lost in his thoughts about even though he'd just broken up he was so lucky to have such good friends. He loved Kelsey and Darren, they always knew how to cheer him up. Darren joined him after dressing.
"So why didn't you ask her?" Blaine asked as he cracked the eggs and began to whisk.
"Like I said, It just wasn't the right time." said Darren. "I want it to be perfect... you know, because she is... I love her, Blaine. She's my soul mate"
"I know Dare, I know... I was there... before you guys started dating, though all the oh-dear-god-just-kiss-already and you-guys-are-driving-me-crazy flirting and the late night 'but what did it mean' and 'do you think they like me' talks. I know that you guys are meant to be. I can see in the way you look at her, like she is the most beautiful thing in the world and the way Kels, looks at you... like you're an idiot, but she loves you anyway" Said Blaine, Darren gave him a playful nudge, they both laughed lightly.
"You're like me and Kurt" he added absent-mindedly after a few moments of silence.
"Yeah...
"But you won't cheat on her... like I did with Kurt. I'm a terrible person..." said Blaine, feeling like he just needed to get all these thoughts out; they were eating away at him, he put the bowl of eggs down, lost in his thoughts. "I mean you should have seen Tobias' face last night... He looked so hurt and so upset. I thought maybe when I admitted out loud my feelings for Kurt that I'd feel better but I don't.... I mean what I was even expecting;"
"Breathe Blaine...." Darren said, as he took over beating the eggs for the French toast, as Blaine began to pace the kitchen.
"I know Kurt won't leave Ryan... I mean they're happy but we had such a nice time the other night and it was like old times... he knows me... and he's remembered everything. He was so kind; after everything that I have done to him... he was still so nice. And Ryan isn't too bad himself we had a nice talk about... "Blaine glanced nervously to Darren, subconsciously tugging on his sleeve "Things and he was really good and helpful... he's just what Kurt deserves. Maybe I'm just meant to be alone... I still have feelings for Kurt and don't think I could watch him get remarried... It might just kill me..."
"Just let it all out Blaine" Darren said, he put the eggs down and he put his arm around Blaine's shoulders, when he'd stopped pacing.
"I mean I do think that maybe he is my soul mate.... Like we're meant to be together... but he deserves Ryan. And I know I didn't break up with Tobias just because of my feelings for Kurt... I broke up with him because he hit me... and I was scared of him and he reminded me of my father... and I had to get out... but I feel like I'm the bad guy for breaking up with him you know...."
"Blaine... You're not the bad guy" said Darren Comfortingly, "He hurt you... and he shouldn't have that"
"But what if I deserved it... I mean I had feelings for Kurt while I was dating him...."
"BLAINE! You did not deserve this. No matter what you think... okay, He hit you because he wrongly accused you of cheating.... You can't help how you feel; Kurt means a lot to you. He was your first... well everything and I think that you and Kurt are soul mates..." said Darren "Tobias was good for you, he helped you recover, but he also was an ass to you... he slapped you."
"Yeah... yeah... You're right... but I'm not gonna end up with Kurt... am i? He's in love with Ryan..."
"He still loves you too Blaine"
"Not as much anymore... I mean the other night was fun and all but he was just treating me as a friend..."
"Maybe you should tell him how you feel...."
"Yeah... maybe"
The two men finished cooking Breakfast, Blaine teaching Darren how to make the syrup and how to cook the French toast just right. Kelsey was sat in the living room, debating over how and when to tell Blaine about the engagement, she looked at the beautiful princess cut ring, it was certainly more than Darren could afford he must have been saving for months. She slipped off the engagement ring and put it into her pocket. Blaine needed her right now, so she decided that she should tell him later, when he is feeling better... She just hoped that she could keep quiet for that long. She was really excited about it... He was her best friend she told him everything.
"Breakfast is ready my beautiful fia- love" said Darren, forgetting for a moment about not having told Blaine yet.
Blaine gave them an odd look, but he shook it off, putting it down to it just being Darren.
"Thank you, guys" she grinned.
The three of them ate the breakfast in silence. Blaine sat trying to get Tobias' face out of his head, the way he looked when he broke his heart. He tried to forget the musky scent of his cologne, the sweet taste of his lips, the firmness of his arms when he held Blaine close, He tried to forget how beautiful his eyes were... he tried but he couldn't. He picked at his food not really all that hungry.
"Do you both have to go in?" Blaine asked, not really wanting to be alone today.
"I'm sorry Bee, Jordan's holding a big meeting with the shareholders and everyone needs to be there..."said Kelsey, really wishing she could stay home to help her best friend.
"Darren, can't you stay off?"
"I'm sorry Blaine, I really can't both Leon and Kieran are off so we're understaffed"
"Oh... um... okay..."
"I'm really, really sorry bee." Kelsey said feeling awful.
"No... no... its fine, you have to work."
"We'll be home before you know it and we'll help you with Tobias' stuff"
"Call If you need me though, okay" she said staring pointedly at him
"I'll be fine!" Blaine half lied, he wasn't too sure of that fact.
"We'll see you later Blaine." Darren said feeling guilty.
"Yeah... see you guys... love you both"
Darren and Kelsey left for work, both of them feeling terrible for leaving Blaine when he was in this situation. They were worried about him; they both knew how he could get.

Blaine paced the apartment, not really sure what to do with himself. He cleaned the apartment top to bottom and tidied the kitchen a living area but he was still stuck for stuff to do. At around twelve thirty he decided to go out for a walk. He didn't know where he was headed until he was at the door.
"Um, would it be possible to speak to Ryan Taylor?" Blaine asked the impossibly tall, blonde receptionist.
"Is he expecting you?" she said, he blue eyes reading Blaine, judging him.
"Um, no... I'm just a friend stopping by... could you just see if he's available"
"Can I take your name?"
"Um... Blaine... Blaine..... Just Blaine"
"Okay Just Blaine, take a seat"
Blaine sat down on a leather couch and picked up on of the numerous copies of this month's issue of Runway. He couldn't help but feel a bit of pride when he read Kurt's name at the top of the mast head. Kurt living out his dream, Blaine couldn't be happier for him... he just wished that he was living it with him. That he was there by his side, that these past three years never happened.
"Blaine?" Ryan asked. "What are you doing here?"
"I just needed out of the apartment. It was driving me crazy"
"What happened?" Ryan said sitting across from him
"It was just so lonely" Blaine said avoiding the topic...
"Where's Tobias?"
"I don't know..." Blaine said honestly.... "We broke up..."
"Oh Blaine... I'm sorry"
"No, no it's okay... It had to be done" said Blaine "We just... weren't working out"
"Well that's certainly one way to put it" Ryan said smiling, "I really am sorry, Blaine..."
"Don't be...." Said Blaine.
"Do you wanna come up as see Kurt?"
"Um, no its okay... sorry to bother you... I don't want to disturb him"
"You won't... he'll be glad to see you... he has been worried about you"
"Yeah..."said Blaine.
"Come on... have a coffee with us?" Blaine looked reluctant, "Please?" Ryan Added
Blaine debated over whether to go up or not. He wanted to see Kurt, more than anyone; he needed his best friend, now more than ever. But he knew when Kurt saw him he'd know that Blaine wasn't right in himself. After all Kurt had always known him better than he knew himself.
"Yeah... Yeah okay" said Blaine... "I could use being in the company of friends... Darren and Kelsey had to go to work..."
"Come on then Bee."
Blaine smiled and the two men head upstairs to Kurt's new office. Blaine felt a surge of memories and guilt as he walked through the once familiar halls. He smiled as he remembered his life before Tobias, before the assault... before the divorce. Before he fucked up everything, before he lost the person he loved more than life itself. He knew he hadn't fully lost Kurt but he'd lost the intimacy... the love.
Kurt's new Editors office was a round room, styled with red velvet furniture. The walls were a stylish white; he had a floor length window with the most amazing view of the City. There were various blown up covers of runway in large black frames. There were a few smaller frames on the dresser and on his desk; pictures of Finn, Rachel and Patti, of Burt and Carole on their wedding day, one's of Lotti and groups of people Blaine didn't recognise and multiple ones of Kurt and Ryan... It was clear Kurt had moved on. However tucked away at the back of the dresser were the three picture Kurt demanded to take with him in the divorce... the one of their first prom, their College graduation and their wedding day- of their first kiss.
"Hey Baby..." said Ryan "Guess who came to visit?"
"Blaine?" said Kurt with a smile. "How are you?"
"I've, um, been better" said Blaine, shrugging.
"Oh... what's up?" he asked, looking at Blaine, his head cocked to one side.
He was reading Blaine, he knew that something was bothering him but he couldn't put his finger on exactly what it was. He smiled softly at his best friend... He still had some romantic feeling for Blaine; he knew it would never fully go... he'd loved him too much for too long to stop now. But somehow, in a way he never thought possible he felt he loved Ryan more.
"I broke up with Tobias, last night..."
"Oh I'm sorry..." said Kurt, moving to hug Blaine.
"Its okay... I mean I'm upset about it but it needed to be done... he wasn't good for me"
"Well, If im honest..." said Kurt, "He didn't deserve you... you didn't deserve to be treated like that,"
"Yeah... I guess I still miss him though...."
"That's normal Blaine" Ryan said.
"Yeah, perfectly normal" said Kurt smiling "So how about that coffee?"
"Yeah, sounds good."
The three men had coffee and chatted. Kurt was really glad that Ryan and Blaine were getting on they were talking like they were best buds. Ryan didn't really say what they got to talking to that day but it seemed to have had a positive effect on their relationship. Kurt was happy.
"I should get back he's meant to be coming round to collect his stuff today... the least I can do is sort it out and be there" said Blaine, when they'd had their fill of coffee.
"are you sure... Kurt and I were about to head out for few drinks if you want to join us." Said Ryan.
"Yes, I'm sure... thanks for the offer but I'd just feel like a third wheel and I really do need to sort out his stuff. Kels and Dare are going to help"
"Okay... well you know where we are if you need us Blaine" said Kurt, staring pointedly.
"Yeah, thanks guys. This has been nice... see you round" said Blaine, waving as he left as he left.
