Author's Notes: okay so i wasnt sure if this story would go down well, or even if its been done beforethis is just a promo i guess of the first chapter, if people like it i will update the restenjoyplese review(other characters will come in later)

The day of the reaping, a day us citizens of McKinley are meant to celebrate. But i Kurt Hummel wake up every day on this year wondering why? Why should i celebrate the possibility that i could be leaving my family for good, with the tiniest possibility that i could see them again - well that would be if i were to win, but how would i a scrawny, defenseless and high voiced teenager potentially kill 23 other human beings?

When i wake up because of the sunlight peeping though the holes in our ceiling (that i must really get round to fixing) i hear nothing but the faint sound of Quinn’s voice, she must be in the garden with her shabby old goat although i must say that goat has managed to give us a substantial amount of milk within the past few years, as well as making Quinn unbelievably happy, which i pretty much all i do with my life now - live to make the younger sibling smile.

I get out of bed and change into something practical; long trousers, a plain t-shirt and my fathers old hunting jacket that he wore when he was my age, i slip on some shoes as well although i don’t have many to chose from i go for my black lace up boots, they should be fine for my morning errands. I head for the bedroom door and as always pick up my mothers pin on my way out and attach it to my shirt just above my chest. The pin is elegant yet simple and by far the most expensive thing in my possession, i could sell it and feed Quinn and my dad for almost a year, at times i have thought about passing it on but i really cant let myself part from the one thing of my mother that remains. On the pin is a bird, the bird is called a mockingjay and has an incredible voice (just as my mother did), it was given to her when she won a singing competition, it could be seen as a very valuable prize but my mother used to be able to have three meals a day without fail, she could afford luxuries but of course she gave that up all for that one thing true love.

End Notes: so whatcha thinki know its not much but hey
