"Mr. Anderson? What do you think?" Blaine looked up from his desk in a daze. He didn't even hear the question being asked. To be honest, Blaine didn't start reading the book yet, he hadn't even opened it. All he could remember was that a young and shirtless Marlon Brando graced the cover. So he replied with the only thing he remembered. He cleared his throat and answered reluctantly. "Um, Marlon Brando?" A few snickers erupted from the surrounding students mouths when the professor smiled sweetly. "Even though Marlon Brando did portray Williams' character, Stanley in the film version that was not what I was asking. Please pay attention, Blaine." Blaine sunk back into his chair with a bit of embarrassment and picked up his pencil again.
Right when he was about to continue doodling, he felt a vibration coming from his left pocket. He dropped his pencil and slowly reached for his phone. Fearing he would get caught on his phone, he kept it hidden under his desk. His phone read 1 new message. He proceeded to open it, curious who it was from. I have kidnapped your sweatshirt and I'm holding it for ransom. If you ever want to see it alive again, meet me in front of my class when the bell rings. –Kurt, xox. Blaine laughed quietly to himself as he slipped his phone back into his pocket. He picked up is pencil and continued doodling, hoping the time would pass by.
Apparently, someone pushed fast forward because within two minutes the bell rung. Blaine grabbed his things quickly and headed out the door. His stomach began to do flips, feeling a bit anxious to meet Kurt. Blaine walked rather quickly and since Kurt's class was right down the hall, he made it there just in time. Kurt was walking out his classroom door the same time Blaine arrived. Blaine began to feel nervous, not knowing how to properly greet Kurt now that fourth period had happened. What did this mean? Were they dating? Were they together? Were they just friends still? Blaine didn't know but he knew he had to find out, but now wasn't the time.
Blaine knew he had to turn on his charm in front of Kurt. He walked up to Kurt, a smile painted on his face. "Ah, there it is. May I have my sweatshirt back?" Blaine held out his hand politely but Kurt held onto the sweatshirt. Kurt shook his head and scoffed lightly. "Blaine, do you not understand the art of kidnapping? " Blaine shrugged, his eyes looking around. "Well I did what you said, I met you here." Kurt nodded, smirking over at the handsome boy. "Yes you did, good job complying. But I did tell you I was holding it for ransom." Blaine crossed his arms, staring at Kurt for a moment. "Okay, what do you want?" Kurt moved closer to the boy, looking into his eyes. This made Blaine go weak in the knees. On the inside, he was dying. Kurt was gorgeous. "You, me, lunch." Blaine looked at Kurt, confused for a moment. "Kurt, we always have lunch together…" Kurt moved to Blaine's side, rolling his eyes. "We have lunch with Wes and David. I was thinking we could have lunch, just you and I today." Kurt then slipped his arm through Blaine's and looked up at him with a smile. Blaine looked down at Kurt in disgust then back up. "Ick, well if I have to in order to get my sweatshirt back…" Kurt jammed his elbow into Blaine's side causing Blaine to make an oof sound. Blaine rolled his eyes and looked down at Kurt smiling. "Of course I'll have lunch with you."
The two boys began to walk down the halls of Dalton and to the cafeteria. Sixth period was Blaine and Kurt's lunch period as well as Wes and David's. Every day since Kurt had transferred to Dalton they would all sit together at lunch but today would be different. Today Blaine would tell Wes and David that he would sit with alone with Kurt, probably text them while they were getting lunch. Kurt and Blaine entered the cafeteria, still linking arms until they reached the lunch line. Both boys were lucky enough to be one of the first few in line so they grabbed their lunches and sat down. They picked a table in the back of the cafeteria and sat across from each other.
Before he started eating, Blaine picked up his phone and sent the warning text to Wes. He knew he only had to send the text to one of the boys because the other would tell them either way. Seating arrangements are changed for today, Kurt and I thought we'd switch it up. See you guys at practice. –Blaine. Blaine pressed send and within seconds he received an eager reply from Wes. Switch it up? Lunch alone with Kurt? What happened? Did you make a move? Details, later. –Wes. Blaine slipped his phone back into his pocket, laughing."Something funny?" Kurt questioned Blaine, noticing him laughing from across the table. Blaine shook his head before grabbing his sandwich and taking a bite. "Just Wes, he's very nosy. I have a hunch that he's not going to leave me alone later at practice."
Blaine and Kurt made the best of lunch together. They sat and discussed class and Warbler practice as usual, making a few jokes here and there, laughing a few times and finishing their lunches. Blaine was still curious and wanted to ask Kurt about fourth period. He still had a billion questions to ask Kurt but he didn't want to come on too strong. Today had been perfect and Blaine didn't want to risk messing that up. But Blaine couldn't go on with the rest of the day wondering what this meant for the both of them. He was sure he was going to ask Kurt during lunch and now was the time. Blaine cleared his throat, trying to rack up the courage to ask Kurt straight out.
"Kurt? Can I ask you something?" Kurt looked at Blaine, unfazed. "Of course, go ahead." Blaine was trying to figure out what he was actually going to ask first. He couldn't make up his mind. It was as if chaos broke loose in Blaine's head. "What's going on?" Kurt, a bit confused, pointed out the obvious. "We're having lunch." Blaine wanted to bang his head on the cafeteria table for being too vague with his question. "I know that, I meant… " Blaine sighed , shutting his eyes. He knew he was about to go out on a limb here, but he had to know. "We kissed, fourth period, and now were having lunch so what's going on?" Blaine slowly opened his eyes, peering out looking at Kurt. Kurt's face became tangled. Oh no. What had Blaine done? Did he just ruin this? Was he jumping into this too quickly? Kurt began to speak when Blaine began to rub his face with both hands in dismay. "I was hoping you could answer that." Blaine looked up from his hands at Kurt. He looked into his eyes, noticing that stare. Kurt looked hopeful and hopeful is good, right?
"I could answer that?" Blaine placed an elbow on the table and rested again his hand, his other arm laying flat on the table in front of him. Did this mean he was calling the shots? "Well seeing as you're the experienced one in this, I was hoping you could tell me what this is, what we are." Kurt bit his lip in angst. He had never done this. He had never been in a relationship besides his pretend hook up with Brittany last year. Hell, he hadn't had a real kiss until today. But Blaine was taken back from Kurt's accusation. Did Blaine come off as experienced? "More experienced?" Kurt sighed quietly, he became embarrassed.
"What would make you think I'm experienced?" Blaine lifted his head and hands up, putting air quotes around the word experienced. Kurt swallowed the lump in his throat. "You just seem experienced I guess." Blaine wasn't completely offended by Kurt's remark about him coming off as experienced. He kind of liked it that he came off this way. Blaine wasn't well put together on the inside. He hadn't been in a serious commitment before. Yeah he's made out with a boy or two but that was it. He had never really had a boyfriend. Honestly, he never met anyone he wanted to be serious with until he met Kurt. No one sent those shivers down Blaine's spine at the touch like Kurt did and Blaine had never been this crazy about someone until now. He was glad at least he looked well put together on the outside, well according to Kurt he was but he knew he had to come clean to Kurt.
This wasn't the time to give a sassy come back however. Blaine knew Kurt was being serious. He wanted to know what was happening between the two of them just as much as Blaine did. "In all honesty Kurt," Blaine reached out for Kurt's hand, squeezing it softly with sincerity. "I've never been in a serious relationship. Yeah, I've had a fling or two here and there, but they never went further than a make-out..." Blaine looked into Kurt's eyes. If he was going to give this a try, he knew he had to get his point across to Kurt that he about to pour his heart out just like he had did fourth period, except in a put together manner. "I'm unfortunately not as experienced as you think I am, but I do want to give this a try. I've never met anyone like you before. When you're around, I feel as if I can be myself… as if I'm safe with you…" Blaine began to blush just talking about his feelings for Kurt but he continued to stare into Kurt's eyes. He wanted to look away in embarrassment, but he couldn't find it in him to do it. He was really going all out here. "You make my heart jump up into my throat. Sometimes I get weak in the knees just holding your hand…" Blaine lifted his hand that was intertwined with Kurt's. He brought Kurt's hand up to his lips and kissed it gently. "And I know it seems sudden but I want to be more than friends. If you'll accept..." Blaine placed both of their hands back on the table, smiling. He was hopeful that Kurt would accept this invitation to be his – to be his boyfriend.
Blaine was hanging by a thread, anticipating Kurt's response. It felt like being on a rollercoaster. You're on your way to the top, knowing you're about to fall, the anxiety and adrenaline is rushing a hundred miles a minute inside your body. After sitting in a moment of silence, Kurt let out a faint laugh. This confused the fuck out of Blaine. What was so funny? "It took you long enough. Of course, if you're in it then I'm in it." Blaine let out a huge sigh of relief, his smile immediately taking over his face.
