Kurt didn't remember being walked out of the mediation room by the guard. He didn't remember just sitting there at lunch in a daze either. His mind was racing at ninety miles per hour. What exactly just happened this morning?

Well he knew what had happened. He was literally forced into mediation with Blaine. Kurt didn't want to deal with all of that or with Blaine for that matter. There was a time when Blaine was Kurt's rock.

Their friendship was one of those I-feel-like-I've-known-you-my-entire-life kinds of friendships. Both of them had mentioned to each other one night too. And it was true, even if they only knew one another for a short period time.

In that brief lapse of time, Kurt had developed a crush no doubt. How could he not? Blaine was gorgeous and in Kurt's mind, describing him as gorgeous didn't even do the kid justice. From the moment they met on that staircase at Dalton Academy, Blaine was polite to Kurt. He offered him help and a hand around the school.

Then if this gorgeous specimen of man couldn't appeal more to Kurt at that moment, he did. He was a part of the Warblers, but not just any part of the group because he was the front man. And boy did he deserve it too. As Blaine's voice swirled throughout the Senior Commons and into Kurt's ears, he swore he could have melted. The Dalton boy's voice was heavenly, not to mention he could move his hips.

When he figured out Kurt came to Dalton to spy, he was courteous by offering him coffee and a sit down chat with his Warbler buddies. Blaine Anderson was straight forward. He admitted he was gay right off the bat, a huge added bonus. Blaine was sweet and sympathetic when Kurt broke down and shared his story to at that time, a complete stranger.

The boy was caring and thoughtful. He instantly insisted on exchanging numbers when Kurt told him he had to leave. Here Blaine comes into his life like this navy knight and shining armor when Kurt was at his lowest, or so he thought at that time. So they became friends fast. Texting whenever either boy had spare time and staying up until the wee hours of the morning talking on the phone.

They started to grab coffee in Lima, too. Even though Kurt stated he would have gladly drove to Westerville if Blaine had asked to change the location. However, Blaine being the gentleman he was dismissed Kurt's protests to drive to him instead, saying he was more than happy to take the two hour trip. Kurt couldn't do much but give into the handsome boy.

Kurt became somewhat infatuated with his new friend but he quickly set his feelings straight. He was to admire Blaine from afar or so to speak, but those feelings didn't randomly vanish when they were together. So when Blaine strode into Crawford Country Day, Kurt felt like jumping up and down in excitement.

He didn't though. He couldn't. Kurt wasn't like that anymore. He still had feelings like everyone did but he wasn't going to act on them. He didn't act on his feelings at Crawford. It wouldn't be smart to. So Kurt acted the way he did normally at the center, inappropriate, disruptive and aggressive. He'd been working on the aggressive part of himself in session with Mirandi.

Those session were quickly forgotten when Blaine started asking questions and he couldn't handle his emotions. He verbally attacked Blaine, using his weakness as an advantage point to hurt him. He didn't mean it really. No body means what they say during an argument. In his heated rage he admitted what happened between Karofsky and himself, which he never did. No one knew besides the two boys who were involved and now Blaine.

That night of the blow up Kurt was on edge. He stayed up most of the night just thinking about Blaine and reflecting. He asked himself why he was losing sleep over this boy and could only come to the conclusion that seeing Blaine surfaced his old unrequited feelings. That didn't fly so well with Kurt. He wasn't going to get attached to Blaine again. He wouldn't allow himself.

So when the next morning arrived, Kurt internally mulled over. He knew mediation would be happening. This wasn't the first time Kurt has gotten into an altercation at the center. He didn't want to face Blaine so he had to be dragged out of his room, literally.

The mediation session, well you know how that went. It killed Kurt to see Blaine so torn up over this, so torn up over their fight and why Kurt was at Crawford. Blaine confused Kurt with his feelings. He understood they were friends but Blaine's words seemed to have an underlying meaning. When Kurt broke down, for god knows what reason, Blaine consoled him and it broke it heart.

Those feelings about Blaine came at him, feelings of their friendship, the separation they dealt with, the fight – it all flooded him. Kurt crumbled under Blaine's embrace. All the repressed feelings he had since being at Crawford poured out. He felt safe with Blaine, even if he was on trial or possibly going to jail or at Crawford.

Then Blaine made a promise to get Kurt out of the center. Kurt couldn't help but to feel hopeful. Blaine never let him down before but this was huge. This was a promise Blaine couldn't throw around. Between his comforting words and whispers of sweet nothings, Kurt hoped that someday he could get out Crawford and start a friendship with Blaine once again. In order for him to get out of the center, he had to fight. Blaine couldn't do this by himself and Kurt knew that.

Kurt knew this was going to be hard. It was going to be emotional and rough and he was going to want to give up and go back to his old ways of just not giving a fuck again but he had to stay positive - for Blaine, his family, and his friends. Blaine was right about the world. It dealt you some shitty times but it blessed you with your friends and family.

Ever since the incident, Kurt had treated his friends and his family like dirt. He insulted Finn and shot down his dad every time he visited. But today, that would change. He broke out of his daze and headed to his visiting table.

Burt Hummel was seated across from Kurt's table; his head placed in one hand, his hat in the other, hoping today would be the day Kurt would give into him. Unbeknownst to Burt, today his hopes and prayers would be answered. Before Kurt was even seated, he called out to his father. "Dad! Dad!" His father looked up, bewildered at the sudden change in tone used by his son.

"Kurt?" As he reached the table, he felt the adrenaline pumping throughout his body. He sat down and began to explain. "I'm fighting this. I'm not staying here anymore. I'm not going to jail. I don't deserve to. I mean, I deserve to be in here. What I did was wrong and not me but there was a purpose, I promise." Burt sat back dumbfounded and listened to Kurt carefully explain everything that happened between him and Karofsky, the bullying, the abuse, and the kiss.

"I wasn't going to sit there and let him get away with it. He took everything from me. And there was nothing I could do. And I'm sorry, dad. I'm so, so sorry. I couldn't run to the administration or you or anyone. It would go on forever if Karofsky didn't get the message that I wasn't going to let him push me around anymore. No one pushes the Hummels around, right?" He stared at his father with hesitance for the first time in months.

After a long moment of silence, Burt nodded. "Right." Kurt let out a breath he wasn't aware he was holding then and smiled at his father. As if this new revelation didn't stun Burt enough, his smiling son almost sent him into cardiac arrest. "I'm not saying I'm all for what you did, but kid, I'm all for fighting this. You know that. I'm thankful you've finally came around."

Kurt shrugged slightly. "It's nothing to thank me for. Thank Blaine." Putting his hat back on, Burt let out a chuckle. "I already did." Kurt drew back in his chair and tilted his head at his father. "W-what do you mean?"
