Author's Notes: There's a song that goes with each chapter and each chapter is going to be named whatever that song is. Of course, you don't have to listen to it but if you do, the story just flows better. I'm a big believer that our lives can be found in songs-whether or not what the song is actually about pertains to the situation.
The smallest moments can change our lives like the flickering of stars on an all black backdrop. It's funny, in a way, how we never know when the smallest thing is going to change us for good. Like how the love of your life could be the stranger living right next door to you, the way you could buy a slip of paper for a dollar and suddenly be the proud new owner of thirty-two million of those dollar bills or the way you can go to work, totally unsuspecting, and have your life completely turned upside down.
For me, the stars began shining brighter on October 1 of TYWM (my special system for counting years).
Fall has always been my favorite season. Pumpkins, decaying leaves and weather so delicious, you can practically taste it on your tongue. I should have known, then, that something was brewing in the air. Almost tangible with the importance it held. Shimmering in the light like a ibag of gold, waiting to reward the right person with a tale of happiness, or of woe. But, most importantly of him. The most important coincidence in all my life. My name is Blaine Anderson and this is my story.
