Kurt leaves in a hurry; not even leaving Blaine a goodbye. Blaine groans and falls back on his sofa – muttering and cursing at himself for being so dumb.
"What the hell are you thinking Blaine Anderson?" Blaine's conscience chides, "You've not even known Kurt for a day and you're already kissing him. He's going to hate you. He's going to not talk to you on the set and he won't pick up your calls if you call him. You've scared him away all because of you and your annoying need to fall for the first good-looking boy who comes your way."
"Gee, thanks conscience," Blaine mumbles, "You don't think I'm annoyed at myself? You don't think I want to take it back? To rewind time and ask Kurt on a proper date with a romantic dinner and a night-time walk?"
"Then do it, rewind time."
"Conscience, we are not in Harry Potter; we don't have a Time-Turner."
"I know we don't but wouldn't that be awesome! Anyway, maybe you can talk to him and apologise for scaring him off?"
"Yeah, maybe..."
"Just think about it. Conscience out!"
Okay, now Blaine sounds like a crazy person.
Just, what was he thinking?
Could he really fall for someone that quick? It happens in movies sometimes but Blaine knows that this is not a movie; that this is real life and he needs to sort out whatever is going on in his head.
He groans once more before eventually getting ready to bed; wanting to sleep for a month and to forget what happened tonight.
"Morning." Rachel says, taking a bite of her honey-spread toast as Kurt trudges into the kitchen; taking a seat beside her and pouring himself a cup of coffee.
"How was last night?"
"What?" Kurt asks, his voice groggy.
"How was last night?"
Kurt shrugs.
"Obviously somebody didn't get enough sleep last night..." Rachel tuts.
Kurt shrugs again.
It was true. He didn't get a lot of sleep last night. His mind was completely awake and he was pretty sure that if you gave his mind more than one sleeping pill; it still wouldn't liven down.
Blaine has kissed him.
Blaine Anderson has kissed him.
Famous celebrity Blaine has kissed him.
Just...what?
Kurt doesn't know if he should feel like a lone eagle; soaring high above the clouds, looking down on all the fans who haven't kissed the teen sensation who desperately want to or if he should feel like a group of lions; kings of the jungle, grazing under a big tree as they're the people who have had the luxury of feeling Blaine's lips on theirs – who want more of that feel.
Kurt doesn't know if he wants more or less of Blaine's kisses. He can't even remember what actually happened last night. It was all too overwhelming. First the bar; then Blaine's where there was alcohol then...the kiss.
But seriously, what was going through Blaine's mind when he kissed him?
"Does he do that to every new guy he meets?" Kurt asks himself; completely allowed and unaware of it.
"Does who do what?" Rachel asks, "And I hope you're happy with the fact you completely cut me off during our conversation."
"Oh right, yeah...sorry."
"You weren't even listening were you?" Rachel laughs.
"...No?"
Rachel rolls her eyes, "It's doesn't matter. So who is this guy? Did something happen between you and Mr. Celebrity last night?"
"What? No!" Kurt says, a little shrill.
"Kurt Elizabeth, I can always tell when you lie. Spill!"
Should he tell her?
What harm would it do?
None?
A lot?
Only one way to find out.
"...Blaine kissed me. Last night, at his house." Kurt groans.
Rachel's eyes shoot open wider than a whale opening its mouth.
"What!"
"Blaine kiss-"
"I heard you! Just, oh my God Kurt! You're so lucky! Was it hot; dreamy; was it everything you ever wanted in your entire life? Was it-"
"Rachel, let's just remember that I only met the guy yesterday!"
"...That is true. Did...did you enjoy it? Did you reciprocate it?"
"No, I panicked."
"Why? He's a celebrity Kurt!"
"No shit Sherlock."
Rachel gives him a sceptical look.
Kurt rolls his eyes, "I mean; it was fun but it was only the one. I stopped it short because I had a sudden doubt. Yeah, there's the fact I only met him yesterday but there was also the constant buzz in my mind of 'He's famous; he probably does this every night with someone new.'"
"Did anything happen at the bar?"
"No. Well, he did say I interested him but that was it."
"Seems like he likes you."
"Don't be so naïve Rachel."
Rachel pouts, "You should call him and ask him why he did it."
"Things will get awkward; I'll just wait till I'm at the set."
Rachel sighs, "Alright, well, I'm still super happy for you Kurt!" She pauses before her eyes widen again with excitement, "Holy shit, just imagine if you become boyfriends and-"
"Rach, stop!" Kurt laughs, "Don't you have to be at school already? Doesn't Cassie have that routine she wants you to practise?"
"Oh, crap. Yeah, I'll see you later sweetie. Tell me how everything goes!" Rachel grins; planting a kiss on Kurt's cheek before leaving their apartment.
Blaine's unable to concentrate whilst they film as Kurt is there; watching – coffee in hand and clipboard underneath his armpit.
Blaine glances at Kurt and gives him a quick small smile; which Kurt replies with a microscopic one.
"Anderson!" Artie growls, "What is up with you today?"
Blaine jolts back into reality with a stunned expression upon his face.
"You can't get one word right! Did you even rehearse your lines at all last night?"
Last night.
The night it happened.
The night awkwardness had started between the two boys unless someone fixed it soon.
"Just," Artie sighs, rubbing his forehead, "Go and rehearse your lines and come back to me when you're ready...and if I'm busy then tell Kurt."
Blaine's breath hitches at that name. The name that is so familiar yet so foreign.
"Well?" Artie says, before Blaine bundles out of the set and runs to his trailer.
Kurt is sitting in his assigned seat beside Artie when he feels a faint vibration in his pocket. He takes his phone out and reads the text.
From Blaine:
Hey, could I see you in my trailer? I need help rehearsing lines and also...we need to talk.
Kurt quickly asks Artie if he can be excused before walking out of the set and into the fresh air that is the outside world.
He has butterflies in his stomach; although it feels like venomous spiders carrying light sabres are attacking them.
He really does not know what to expect.
