It had been 18 years since Kurt Hummel had walked out on his husband and 5 month old daughter.

Blaine Anderson had no choice but to raise the girl, Elizabeth Anderson, by himself. But he did it and the girl loved her dad unconditionally.

Kurt had moved on and was remarried to one of his band mate's, Elliot, and they moved to L.A. with the hope that their band would be more successful.  

Elizabeth had hated Kurt from the day she found out what he had done. Who in their right mind would leave their family without any explanation?

Blaine had tried hard to get over Kurt, but the love from his little girl was all that he needed.  He had a few boyfriends here and there, but they never got along with Lizzy, and if a man was going to stay around, she had to approve.

Elizabeth hated the guys her dad dated, because he never had his full heart into it, and that wasn't love. She wanted to be happy like she was with Daniel. Daniel has been there for her for 6 years, more if you count the 8 years they had been best friends.

Blaine met Sebastian, and instantly fell for him. He made him happy and him and Lizzy got along perfectly. He even took her shopping to bond with her. Blaine was willing to take a chance on Sebastian; it wasn't like he had much to lose.

Kurt had been offered a spot in an off-Broadway musical in NYC, and he took it. Completely forgetting that his ex and daughter still lived there…
