Kurt sees him by their bench at lunchtime the next day, and he gives himself a mental kick for calling it “their bench”. He is angry when he starts walking towards him, even though he really doesn’t know why, and when he stops in front of the other boy the words that leave his mouth aren’t the ones he had planned:

“You weren’t here yesterday.”

Blaine looks up, a laugh sparkling in his eyes and the smirk in place. “What is this? You missed me, Hummel?” Kurt literally spits like an angry cat at that, but all the witty comebacks which usually come so easy are gone. “You really did, didn’t you?”

Blaine stands up, and he is suddenly closer than he has ever been before, and he smells like cigarettes and Kurt can’t stand it. So he pushes him. Kurt Hummel, porcelain fairy, pushes Blaine Anderson, murderer from Dalton juvie. And the boy stumbles back.

“Get out of my face, Anderson.”, Kurt says, and now he can feel the words come even though he doesn’t want them to, even though his knees are shaking and his fear is yelling at him to stop:

“You think you’re such a badass, think you can just come here and take whatever you want. But I’m telling you, Anderson, Kurt Hummel is not someone you can play around with.” And Blaine is going to kill him now, he is sure of it, he can see it in his eyes; those enormous hazel eyes staring into his own. But Blaine doesn’t kill him, not at all.

“Meet me in the auditorium after school.”

That is all. And oh god Kurt is going to die.
