Blaine knew the glee the club was supposed to be an all-inclusive club and that they probably wouldn’t make fun of him or boo him for singing in front of him but that didn’t mean he wasn’t incredibly nervous.  He knew on Friday’s they met before class so that meant he wouldn’t have to torture himself with his nerves all day. He knocked on the door of the choir room even though it was open.  Everyone turned and looked at him.

“Ummm….can I audition?” he asked nervously once again missing the smile on Kurt’s face.

“Of course! Everyone, it looks like we have a new student at McKinley.” Mr. Schue said happily.

“I’m not new.” Blaine said quietly.

“He’s in your Spanish class Mr. Schue.” Mike told the teacher.

                “Are you?” Mr. Schue asked.

Blaine nodded.

“Oh, ok. Then why don’t you introduce yourself for those who don’t know you and then sing for us.” The teacher said still unsure who Blaine was.

“Um. Hi, I’m Blaine and I’ll be singing Teenage Dream.”

Blaine began to sing, the more he sang the less nervous he got until he got to the point where he was openly flirting with Kurt as he sang. When he finished Kurt lead the applause.

“I think it’s safe to say you’re in the club Blake.” Mr. Schue said.

                “My name’s Blaine.”

                “That’s what I said.”

“Welcome to the New Directions Blaine, you and I will make amazing duets together.” Rachel said brightly.

“Cool it Berry that hobbit belongs to Porcelain.” Santana said filing her nails.

“I don’t what you are talking about Satan.” Kurt said trying to fight the blush that was rising in his cheeks.

“Please he was making heart eyes at you so hard I thought I was going to puke. The kid is obviously madly in love with you.” The Latina cheerleader told Kurt.  Blaine didn’t know what to say so when Kurt turned to look at him with wide eyes he ran.

He couldn’t face the possibility that Kurt didn’t feel the same way which Blaine was pretty sure he didn’t so he did something he had never done before: he skipped school. He sought refuge at the public library telling himself that if he spent the day reading books on the subjects he was missing it wasn’t the same as missing school, plus he’d have to turn his phone off in the library so if Kurt called or texted him to reject him Blaine wouldn’t know which was the same as it not happening.  This lasted until the clock struck one, the time that Blaine and Kurt had English. Blaine looked at the copy of Pride and Prejudice on the library table in front of him and promptly ran to the bathroom to throw up. After that he decided it was best to just go home and go to bed, maybe he could sleep until after graduation.  He tunneled deep into his blankets but couldn’t sleep; he was too mortified remembering the look on Kurt’s face.

“Blaine? Your mom said I could come up.” He heard a voice say from his doorway. He hid further under his blankets recognizing Kurt’s voice.

“You missed the rest of school and more importantly our coffee date.” Kurt said trying to joke.

Blaine didn’t respond, he knew this was not a mature reaction but he really didn’t care.

“I didn’t believe her if that’s what you’re worried about. I know someone like you wouldn’t be into me.  I mean you are so smart and gorgeous and I’m just a skinny kid with a high voice.” Kurt said softly. He heard a muffled reply come from under Blaine’s blankets.

                “What was that?” He asked.

Blaine lifted the blankets off of his head and Kurt was surprised to find that his head was at the foot of the bed and that he had been talking to Blaine’s feet.

“I said you are perfect.” Blaine told Kurt.

“Why did you run away? Why have you been avoiding me all day?” Kurt asked confused.

                “So you couldn’t reject me.”

“I don’t want to reject you; I thought you were rejecting me.”

“Never!”  Blaine said sitting up but still holding the blankets around himself.

“So neither of us is rejecting the other?” Kurt asked

                “Apparently not.” Blaine said.

They looked at each other.

“I wouldn’t reject you if you asked me out.” Kurt told Blaine.

“No, you’d just say it would be a good opportunity to work on our project.” Blaine replied.

                “What?”

“I was trying to ask you out when I asked you to go to coffee with me.”

“Oh! Wow, I’m an idiot!” Kurt laughed “Although you never said it was a date.”

“I thought that was implied!” Blaine said “I’ve never asked anyone out before I don’t know how to do it!”

“I think you say something like ‘will you go out with me?’” Kurt said.

                “Yes.”

                “I…what?”

“Yes, I’ll go out with you.” Blaine said

“You are adorable.” Kurt said smiling.

“So where are you going to take me on our date?” Blaine asked trying not to laugh and half expecting Kurt to reject him.

“Breadstix, obviously Blaine, everyone knows it’s the place for first dates in Lima.”

                “I did not know that.”

“Does tomorrow work for you? I have family dinner tonight.”

“Yeah tomorrow will be great. Ummm…Kurt?”

                “Yes?”

“Ok this is awkward but did we buy me any date appropriate outfits when we went shopping?” Blaine asked.

Kurt laughed.

“We got you a few things, I’ll pick out a few different outfit options for you.” Kurt said getting up and walking to Blaine’s closet, he looked around in it for a few minutes.

“When I have time I’m going to come over and properly organize your closet for you Blaine, it’s disgraceful.”  Kurt told him.

“What can I say? I never spent much time in the closet.” Blaine joked which cause Kurt to give him a dirty look as Blaine laughed at his own joke. Kurt turned his back to Blaine a picked out a few different outfit options.

“Can I pick you up tomorrow? I’d really like to be the one to drive.” Blaine asked.

“I thought your car wasn’t running?”

“It wasn’t but once I put these back in it probably will.” Blaine said grabbing the spark plugs out of his desk drawer. Kurt looked at him raising one eyebrow in question.

“After you drove me home the first time I may have sabotaged me car so I had an excuse to get you to drive me home. Is that weird? Oh god you think I’m weird and don’t want to date me now.”

“Blaine, you are rambling. I think it’s sweet.”

                “Really?”

                “Really.”

“You still want to date me?”

“I still want to date you.”
