Sorry this took so long (again). I have less shifts at work in the next few weeks so I'm going to try and sit down and finish the story and then start doing regular updates once it's done.
“I’m really sorry about my parents.” Blaine told Kurt the next morning as they sat side by side in a cab on their way to the loft after having landed in New York. “I don’t think they understand the whole equal partnership thing that healthy relationships have. They seem to think that relationships are constant power struggles.”
“Don’t worry about it honey, they were fine after you stood up to them.”
“Yeah because I was in the power position then.”
“Your family is strange.”
“I know, but I’m not like them, I’m not interested in the power struggle of a relationship they have. I care about you and your happiness more than anything.”
“Oh honey, I know you aren’t like them. If you were you wouldn’t have apologized to me for their behaviour every ten minutes since last night, you wouldn’t have stood up to them on my behalf and you certainly wouldn’t have offered to put Columbia on hold to join me on tour, the answer is still no by the way.”
“It hasn’t been every ten minutes.” Blaine protested.
“Not literally no but you have apologized a lot and it’s really not necessary.”
“I just….I don’t want you to judge me based on them.”
“Of course I wouldn’t. You’re my soul mate, I love you and I’ll continue to love you no matter what your parents do or say. ”
“I love you too.” The two soul mates shared a quick sweet kiss as the cab pulled up outside the building in Bushwick. Kurt stood on the sidewalk and looked around as Blaine paid the driver taking in the sites of home he hadn’t seen since leaving to go on tour.
“You know them better, do you think they’ll be happy for us?” Blaine asked looking up towards the loft’s windows.
“Honey, they’ll be ecstatic. Santana will try and hide it but she’ll be just as happy as Rachel.”
“Can I ask you something about Rachel?”
“I promise she’s going to be happy for us.”
“Good, but that’s not what I wanted to ask…did she lose her soul mate? She said something one time that made me think she might have.”
“Yeah she did.” Kurt replied quietly. “My brother Finn, step-brother technically, he died last year.”
“I’m sorry, I wouldn’t have brought it up if I had known.”
“It’s fine, I wanted to tell you about him anyway, it’s just a hard thing to bring up. And I’m pretty sure saying ‘by the way my brother is dead’ would be a conversation killer.”
“You can talk to me about him whenever you want, ok?”
Kurt nodded. “Let’s go in, I want to see the girls.”
They had planned on the flight how they were going to surprise Rachel and Santana, they talked about having Blaine go in first and telling them he found his soul mate and invited him to stay at the loft for a little bit and in the middle of Rachel’s lecture about inviting strangers to stay in their apartment Kurt would walk in. But in the end they decided to just simply throw open the loft door and announce their presence/ relationship. Yes, it was simple but it also meant they could get the surprise over with, celebrate with the girls quickly and then go to the bedroom and make out. Blaine wondered if all soul mates had this hard of a time keeping their hands off each other or if it was just something he and Kurt were experiencing because they knew they weren’t going to see each other for a while after tomorrow.
What they didn’t plan on was neither Rachel nor Santana was home.
“Well that was anti-climactic.” Kurt remarked as the brought their suitcases into the empty apartment.
“Well if you want to climax…” Blaine said wiggling his eyebrows.
“Smooth.” Kurt chuckled shaking his head.
“That wasn’t a no.”
“Shut up and kiss me you dork.”
Blaine didn’t need to be told twice before he grabbed Kurt in his arms and pressed their lips together, he savoured the feel of Kurt’s lips against his, the taste of his mouth. They both knew that he was joking about climaxing, they hadn’t done anything but kiss at this point. Neither one of them wanted to rush into anything, especially since they knew they wouldn’t see each other again until at least Christmas which was still more than a month away. But if Kurt wanted to do more than just make out before they parted that would be just fine by Blaine.
“Come on, you need to show me what you’ve done to my bedroom.” Kurt said breaking their kiss.
Blaine followed Kurt to the curtain offed area that currently served as Blaine’s bedroom, he sat on the bed as he watched Kurt look around, opening and closing the drawers and picking up the knick knacks that adorned the surfaces, there weren’t many as Blaine left a lot of his belongs at home, planning on having his parents send him some more once he settled into a more permanent home but he did acquire a few little things from the surrounding shops.
“I like how you have arranged your bowties.” Kurt told Blaine closing the bowtie drawer.
“Thanks.”
“It feels really weird looking around my room and seeing someone else’s stuff.”
“Understandable.”
“But…I think I approve of your decorating style, so you can stay.” Kurt teased as he crawled after Blaine who scooted backwards along the bed towards the headboard.
“Thank you for not making your soul mate be homeless.” Blaine teased back.
“It’s purely selfish in reasoning I assure you, I can’t be a big Broadway star and show up to events with my smelly homeless soul mate, there would be talk.”
“Of course.” Blaine agreed before lifting his head slightly to once again join his and Kurt’s lips.
Blaine’s hands found their way down Kurt’s back and rested just above his ass as they kissed. Blaine really wanted to move his hands the last couple of inches but he wasn’t sure if Kurt would be comfortable with Blaine grabbing his ass yet his hands stayed firmly on Kurt’s lower back. Blaine was so distracted by thoughts of Kurt’s ass he didn’t notice Kurt toying with the hem of his shirt until he felt Kurt’s hands on his bare stomach.
“Take this off?” Kurt asked breathlessly.
“Yours too?” Blaine replied as he helped Kurt take his shirt off. Kurt smiled as he quickly took his own shirt off.
As they resumed kissing Blaine temporarily forgot about Kurt’s ass as he ran his hands up and down the smooth skin of Kurt’s back. He knew he’d need to cool off soon as he thought about one day taking off the rest of Kurt’s clothes but at the moment he couldn’t bring himself to stop kissing the beautiful man who laid on top of him.
“OH MY GOD!”
“Wanky.”
Kurt and Blaine reluctantly broke apart.
“Hello Rachel, Sanatana.” Kurt greeted his friends a lot cooler than he would have any other time as he and Blaine both sat up.
“Kurt! What are you doing here? And on top of Blaine?” Rachel screeched. “Tell me you two at least introduced yourself before the clothing started coming off.
“Oh my god! Of course we did!” Kurt gasped horrified.
“We actually met a few days ago. In Lima.” Blaine confirmed.
“And then you ran into each other again at the apartment?” Rachel asked confused while Santana watched silently, a pleased look on her face. Blaine wondered if she already figured out where this was going.
“We came to New York together, actually.” Blaine informed her.
“We’re soul mates.” Kurt announced proudly.
“OH MY GOD!!” Rachel screeched again before pouncing on the couple, pulling them both into a hug. Santana gave a small shrug like ‘what the hell’ before also jumping on the bed, her knee just barely missing a particularly sensitive part of Blaine.
