Sorry this took so long, I've had a bit of writer's block.
Dinner with the Hummels didn’t turn out to be the nerve racking experience that Blaine had expected, it was easy, like he belonged there. Burt didn’t interrogate or threaten Blaine at all and Carole gushed over how cute the boys looked together. It warmed Blaine’s heart to see Burt and Carole together, he knew they weren’t soul mates and yet they were still a good couple who seemed to genuinely love each other, it was nice to be around parents who actually liked each other for a change. Of course they asked Blaine questions about himself but it felt more like it was out of genuine interest then it was trying to determine if he was good enough for Kurt. Blaine and Carole ended up having quite the discussion about the medical field she told him if he ever needed any advice or anything to let her know and if she couldn’t help him she would put him in contact with some of her doctor friends. After dinner Kurt and Blaine went to Kurt’s old room where they cuddled on his bed to watch a movie. Blaine felt kind of guilty like they were abandoning Kurt’s parents but Kurt reassured him they were fine with it knowing how little time the boys had together at the moment Burt and Carole felt they should spend as much of it together as possible. Kurt didn’t mention the fact his dad told him that being soul mates didn’t mean they had to rush into anything and it definitely didn’t mean it was appropriate to have sex under his roof. Kurt had no plans to have sex with Blaine this early on in their relationship and he certainly wasn’t going to do it for the first time in his parents’ house especially while they were home however that didn’t mean he couldn’t make out with his soul mate a little, ok a lot. Eventually though the making out go too hot and they had to stop before they let themselves get carried away, reluctantly and with a few sweet parting kisses Blaine headed back home.
“You got laid.” Cooper said by way of greeting when Blaine entered the Anderson home.
“I did not.” Blaine protested walking past his brother and heading to his bedroom.
“You so did.”
“No I didn’t, why would you think I did?” Blaine asked. Cooper gestured to the mirror above Blaine’s dresser. Blaine turned to look at himself and yeah ok he looked a little…debauched.
“So, who is he? Did you top or bottom? Oh and maybe most importantly….what the fuck happened to waiting to your soul mate?”
“Ok, let me make myself perfectly clear we did not have sex, we made out but we did not have sex. And as for my soul mate….well he is my soul mate.”
“WHAT?!?”
“Shh! Mom and Dad are sleeping.”
“Cooper? Is everything ok?” Their dad’s voice called from the master bedroom.
“Everything’s fine dad, go back to sleep.” Blaine called back
“Do they know? Have they met him? When did this happen? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Yes they know, no, they haven’t met him, it happened yesterday at the Lima Bean. And I didn’t tell you because he’s coming to mom’s dinner tomorrow, well I guess tonight and I wanted to surprise you.”
“Well I’m surprised. Now tell me all about him.”
“Cooper it’s two in the morning.”
“It’s not my fault that your boytoy kept you up so late.”
“He’s not my boytoy.”
“Soul mate, whatever.” Cooper said dismissively but Blaine knew his brother was actually ecstatic the Blaine finally found his other half.
Blaine was desperate to change the subject before he ruined the actual surprise of his soul mate being Kurt.
“I’m dropping out of NYADA and going into pre-med.”
“What the fuck Blaine? Are you serious?”
“Yes?” Blaine said, out of everyone Cooper was the most nervous he was about telling. He knew that Cooper would be upset that Blaine wasn’t following in his footsteps and while he knew that Cooper would eventually come around and be Blaine’s biggest supporter (well second biggest, Blaine was pretty sure Kurt would be his biggest supporter) he also knew that it would take a while and fair amount of convincing for Cooper to accept that this is what Blaine really wants and that he isn’t giving into to some perceived yet non-existent pressure from his parents.
“Why are you doing this?” Cooper asked.
“It’s what I always wanted.”
“No it’s what dad and mama have always wanted.” Cooper countered.
“No it’s what I always wanted, they’ve always supported it. All those medical books they’ve given me, the stethoscope, the robe that looks like a doctor’s coat, they gave me all that stuff because I wanted it.”
Cooper blinked. “But you are so talented, you could do whatever you want movies, tv, music, Broadway.”
“Thank you but what I want to do is save lives.”
“Saving lives is fantastic it really is but Blaine are you really going to throw away all that talent?”
“I’ll still perform, I can sing at piano bars on my nights off or take part in community theatre productions.”
“Are you sure this is what you really want?”
“After Sadie Hawkins….if it wasn’t for the trauma surgeons I wouldn’t be here today Cooper.”
“Blaine.” Cooper interrupted softly. Blaine held his hand up to signal for Cooper to let him finish.
“They saved me you know they did. And I want to do that too. I want to help people, I want to save people. I want something good to come out of what happened to me.”
“You don’t have to…”
“I know I don’t have to but I want to Coop.”
“If this is what you really want I’ll support you Blainey.”
“It is.”
“Ok then.”
“Besides Coop, do you really think the world could handle two superstar Anderson brothers?”
“You’re right it would be too much hotness to handle.”
“Good night Cooper.”
“ ‘Night Blaine. Love you.”
“Love you too.”
