The next morning couldn't come soon enough for either man. Somehow they both managed to arrive at the crepe place at the same time, Blaine wasn't sure if it was proper protocol for him to greet Kurt with a kiss or not even though he badly wanted to taste those lips again but Kurt saved him from having to wonder for too long by planting a quick peck on Blaine's lips. The crepe place was amazing although Blaine found the noises Kurt made to be a bit distracting and he couldn't help but look forward to the day that he got to be the reason Kurt made similar noises. When they finished eating and the check came they both reached for it and ended up playing a quick game of rock paper scissors to see who paid for it Kurt won which Blaine tried to reason meant that Blaine should pay but Kurt shot him a bitch please look and paid the check. On the way to the gallery they joined hands and even though it was the first time they held hands it didn't feel strange and neither one could say who initiated it. As they walked around the gallery Kurt spoke so passionately about the art that Blaine spent most of his time looking at Kurt and couldn't help but place a kiss on his cheek which caused Kurt to blush.
"What was that for?" Kurt asked.
Blaine shrugged. "You're just so adorable I couldn't help myself...that's allowed right?"
"That's definitely allowed."
Maybe they should have felt more awkward being as it was only their second date but they spent so much time together at work and they have both wanted to be with the other for so long that this just felt natural but at the same time neither of them knew exactly what this was, obviously it was more than two coworkers spending time together, more than just friends, but were they dating? Were they boyfriends? Were they exclusive? Was it too soon to have that discussion? Blaine had no idea as he had never really had a boyfriend before and Kurt wasn't certain because while he had had a boyfriend before that relationship was kind of...accidental...he had met Adam while at NYADA and they became friends and before Kurt knew it they were boyfriends, he wasn't even sure how it had happened and he had really liked Adam but he never really liked him. Whereas Kurt knew he could love Blaine, not yet though, it was too soon but he could one day in the very near future. Kurt often wondered if the only reason he dated Adam was because he was there and cute and gay and interested in Kurt but Kurt also knew that wasn't the case with Blaine, he didn't want to date Blaine because he was the only other gay guy at the office, no there could be dozens, hundreds, thousands of gay guys at the office and Kurt knew he'd still want Blaine, he just knew that Blaine was someone special and he could very well be Kurt's someone special. Kurt just hoped that Blaine felt the same way especially after Kurt told him he didn't want to have sex, not yet anyway. Kurt felt that sex was something special and unlike his high school friends who swapped sexual partners more often than he changed outfits, Kurt knew that sex matters, his dad taught him that, and Kurt hadn't been able to bring himself to give his virginity to Adam, he knew it wouldn't have been right so as a result Kurt was still a virgin and he hoped that wouldn't freak Blaine out too much. Maybe he should be embarrassed at being a 25 year old virgin but he really wasn't, no matter how many times his friend Santana teased him and offered to buy him a male prostitute, Kurt could've lost his virginity countless times if he so chose, without having to result in having to pay for it, he could have lost it to Adam or to one of the many men who hit on him, not to imply he has a gaggle of guys following him around on a daily basis but he does draw a fair bit of male attention, Kurt gripped Blaine's hand a little tighter knowing that the shorter man was the one Kurt wanted to finally take that step with, someday. Blaine squeezed Kurt's hand back and smiled at him before squinting at the painting they were currently standing in front of and asking Kurt what it was supposed to be. Kurt titled his head to the side to give himself a different perspective before declaring "I have no idea" which caused Blaine to laugh and a few other people in the gallery to turn and glare at the two men. Kurt mouthed sorry to their fellow patrons before moving on to the next painting.
"Is this a painting of a foot?" Blaine asked softly.
"No...no it's obviously a...." Kurt said biting his lip. "Ok, yeah I think it's a foot."
"Why?"
"Why paint a picture of a foot?" Kurt clarified.
Blaine nodded.
"Honestly I don't know...maybe the artist has a foot fetish?"
"One can only assume."
They moved onto to the next piece of art which was a sculpture.
"You aren't having fun are you?" Kurt asked as he watched Blaine furrow his brow at the sculpture.
"Honestly, I just don't get these pieces...it's like they placed all the good art near the front and all the shitty stuff back here....Sorry, I shouldn't have said that you wanted to check this show out and I'm ruining it."
"You're not ruining it, I actually think you might be on to something, I think we wandered into a different exhibit or something. I mean this stuff is shit, like seriously did this 'sculptor' even do anything? It just looks like a big block to me."
"Oh thank god! I thought I didn't get it and I felt like such an idiot."
"Do you just want to get out of here?"
"As long as we can do something else."
So the two men left the gallery and instead went for a walk in Central Park.
"Oh! Look it's the zoo! We should go to the zoo!" Blaine said pulling Kurt's hand. If he had been with anyone else Kurt would have made a sarcastic remark but Blaine was so excited that Kurt couldn't help but be excited too so he joined Blaine in running to the zoo like a couple of kids. And by the end of the day he was glad he had, he had completely forgotten how much fun the zoo can be when he got home that night Kurt changed his phone background to a photo of Blaine kissing him on the cheek in front of the zoo sign and then added the photo of Blaine making faces at the monkeys as Blaine's contact photo. He wouldn't say it out loud, at least not until he talked to Blaine about it and found out if he felt the same way but in his head Kurt had taken to referring to Blaine as my boyfriend.
