It was on Wednesday when the boys were able to get an appointment with the couple’s counsellor Dr. Sylvia White.

“How long have you been together?” She asked them.

“Well, we were together about a year and a half and then…”

                “I cheated.”

“He cheated and so we broke up, we were apart for another year and a half and we’ve been back together for a week.”

“On Friday it will be a week.”

“A week and you’re already having problems?”

“It’s not so much that we are having new problems as it is we feel that we need to deal with the problems that destroyed our relationship the last, like my cheating.”

“Ok, that’s a good idea. So tell me about the cheating, how many times did that happen?”

                “Once.”

“Ok, and did you have sex with the other man?”

“No, we just kissed a bit.”

                “Alright then, why?”

                “Excuse me?”

                “Why did you cheat?”

“Ok, well…I guess I was lonely and needed the attention and I just wanted to be able to make someone happy and I don’t know he was there and I knew how to make him happy.”

“Kurt, is that a good enough explanation for you?” she asked.

                “No.”

                “Ok, Blaine can you elaborate?”

“Ummm…I don’t know what else to tell you that I haven’t already Kurt.”

“What did I do that made you cheat? I mean I know you said I wasn’t talking to you as much as I said I would, I know I was busy but was that? Because if it was how do I know that in ten years when were married with kids if I go to Paris or somewhere for work and don’t call home every night that you won’t do it again?”

“You hung up without telling me you loved me. It’s stupid I know, but I thought maybe you didn’t say it because you didn’t anymore.”

“But you knew I loved you I told you all the time.”

“Before you moved here yes, after no you didn’t, you stopped.”

                “I did?”

                “You did.”

“But just the other day you said I didn’t need to tell you that you knew how I felt.”

“When we’re together I can tell, I can see it in the way you look at me, I can feel it when you touch me. But when you were here and I was in Lima all I had were the words which you didn’t say anymore.”

“I don’t want to put words in your mouth Blaine but it sounds to me like you are saying that you felt that Kurt had already moved on and you were trying to do the same.”

                “Yeah.”

“Why him? What was it about him?” Kurt asked

“He…he smelled like you, and I could close my eyes and pretend he was you, pretend that you still wanted me. Or at least I thought I could but he felt all wrong, his hands were too rough, his lips were too dry.”

Kurt bit his lip, obviously deep on thought.

“You thought I didn’t want you anymore? That I didn’t love you anymore?”

                “Yeah.”

“So it is partly my fault. Oh my god! I just remembered I ignored your calls!”

“No, no it’s my fault Kurt. I shouldn’t be so insecure; I should’ve gone to see you sooner or something. Yes, you ignored my calls but that doesn’t make what I did ok. I accept full responsibility.”

“But baby, you can’t accept full responsibility because it is partly my fault. If I had kept all those promises I made you when you told me were scared then you wouldn’t have cheated, right?”

                “Right.”

                “So we’ll share the responsibility.”

                “Ok”

“This is good, accepting responsibility is an important step.”

“Good, I know our time is almost up for today, is there something we can do to help rebuild Kurt’s trust in me outside of these appointments?”

“One thing that can help is for you to give him all you passwords for Facebook, your email, your phone, everything.  What you might not realise is Kurt is always going to be wondering if you are hiding something and it’s up to you to prove to him you aren’t. Kurt might not choose to check your email, etcetera but just knowing he has the ability will do a lot to ease his mind. Your life has to be an open book Blaine.”

 “Ok, I can do that.”

“Good another thing that both of you have to do is to be completely honest with each other, you can’t keep things from another. Blaine if you are feeling like Kurt isn’t paying enough attention to you then tell him, Kurt if you are worried about Blaine talking to another man then tell him.”

“We do that already.” Blaine said.

Kurt bit his lip and didn’t say anything.

                “Kurt?”

“Umm….you know that other day when that guy was hitting on you in the coffee shop? I didn’t like that.”

“Me neither Kurt, I told him as soon as he starting flirting that I have a boyfriend and when he leave me alone right away I told him again I was spoken for and that’s when you came in.”

“Yeah I know I heard but I didn’t like it.”

“Kurt, sometimes guys are going to hit on Blaine, he’s a very handsome man. There isn’t anything anyone can do about that but what’s important is how Blaine handles it and I think in this case he handled it correctly.”

                “Thank you.”

“I know Blaine’s incredibly hot and in a way that’s part of my problem.”

Blaine looked at Kurt confused.

“It’s just I never understood why someone who looks like you would want to be with someone who looks like me.”

“Why wouldn’t I want to be with you? You are fucking gorgeous, the most gorgeous man I have ever seen in my entire life. When I first saw you on the staircase my jaw literally dropped Kurt.  And on top of that you are so compassionate and intelligent and talented and funny. You are perfect for me Kurt; you are the other half of my soul.”

“That’s the most romantic thing I have ever heard in my entire life.” Dr. White said dabbing her eyes with a tissue.

“Yeah he’s really good with the big romantic speeches.”

Blaine blushed.

“The ironic thing is I always thought you were too good for me.”

“Pretty, pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you’re less than less than perfect.” Kurt sang.

Blaine laughed and then kissed Kurt, “I love you so much baby.”

“We used to always sing that to each other in the car.” Kurt explained to Dr. White.

“You know I’ve been doing this for a lot of years and I always can tell if a couple will make it or not, and you two are going to make it.”

Blaine and Kurt smiled at each proudly.

“But that doesn’t mean you don’t have to work at it.”

“We know; we’ll see you next week. Thank you Dr. White.” Blaine said standing up.

“Yes, thank you.” Kurt smiled at her.
