They found a small diner not too far from Blaine’s apartment, the kind of place that isn’t much to look at but always has amazing food. They chose a booth and sat down to look at the menus.
“Well well if it isn’t Sonny and Cher reunited.” A familiar voice said approaching the table.
They looked up and saw Sebastian standing over their table, wearing black pants and white shirt and an apron, a pot of coffee in his hand.
“Did you know he worked here?” Kurt asked Blaine, his eyebrows narrowed.
“I didn’t even know he was in New York.”
“You know as much as it warms my heart to see the two of you together again I think you owe me an apology Blaine.” Sebastian said pulling a chair from a nearby table to join them.
“And why is that?” Blaine asked
“Well I always figured if you were going to cheat on princess here it would be with me and then I find out that you hooked up with someone else, it hurt me Blaine. A lot.”
“Are you fucking kidding me right now?”
“No, I need to know Blaine, what did he have that I didn’t? Was he hotter than me?”
Blaine and Kurt traded looks of disbelief.
“Umm….look Sebastian cheating on Kurt was the biggest mistake of my life and it wasn’t with you because I’m just not attracted to you. Sorry, I guess.”
“That hurts Blaine that really hurts.”
“I’m sure you’ll find someone whose relationship you can ruin.”
“I hope so, I really do.” Sebastian said solemnly.
“You do work here right?”
“Yeah.”
“I find that fantastic. Can we get some coffee? And Blaine would like waffles with strawberries and whip cream and I’ll have an egg white omelet.”
Sebastian gave Kurt a look like he was confused for a minute.
“Go.” Kurt said making shooing motions with his hand.
“So it really wasn’t him.”
“No, I told you it wasn’t. I’m sure that I mentioned that his name was Eli.”
“You did but I thought you were lying to spare my dignity.”
“I wasn’t lying. I ‘ve never lied to you about what happened or who it was with.”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
“Do we have to talk about this today? It’s ruining reconciliation day.”
“Reconciliation day? Wasn’t yesterday reconciliation day?”
“It was but today’s our first full day officially being back together hence reconciliation day.”
“You are a strange one Blaine Anderson.”
“Yup and you’re stuck with me.”
“Darn my luck.”
“If you need to talk about it now Kurt we can.”
“I guess I want to know what it was about him.”
“It wasn’t about him, not really. I was drunk and he was there and I needed…the attention. I needed to make someone happy.”
“You made me happy, was I not giving you enough attention?”
“You barely even spoke to me Kurt. I had told you before you left that I was scared what would happen when we were apart, I told you I was scared that I was going to be all alone. And you promised me I wouldn’t be; you told me we’d Skype every night and I could come visit you every weekend. But that didn’t happen you didn’t have time for me and when we did talk or Skype you didn’t care what I had to say.”
“So you’re saying it was my fault?” Kurt said getting angry.
“No, I’m saying I was lonely.”
“You’re the one would told me to go to New York Blaine or did you forget that?”
“I know I did.”
“I’m not hungry any more I’m going to go.” Kurt said getting up
“Kurt!” Blaine called after him, he tried to chase after him but it was too late Kurt had already jumped into a cab.
Blaine turned around to see Sebastian standing behind him.
“One word and I’ll break your fucking nose.” Blaine threatened.
Sebastian raised his hands to show he meant no harm.
Blaine dialed Kurt’s number.
“Don’t hit me but maybe you should give him some time to calm down before you call him” Sebastian suggested.
“You’re probably right. God, how did I fuck this up so fast!”
“To be fair I heard the whole thing and I don’t think it was all you.”
“No it was, I tried to pass some of the responsibility for me cheating onto him.”
“Maybe that’s because he’s partly responsible.”
“You really did change didn’t you?”
“I did. Or at least I hope I did.”
“Good.”
“Do you want me to pack your food up to go?”
“Uhh…yeah sure.”
Blaine really didn’t care about the food, he just wanted to go home, crawl into bed and stay there forever. But when he got there he found it was already occupied, Kurt was sitting cross legged on the middle of Blaine’s bed.
“Alex let me in.” he said
“I figured, I thought you went home.”
“I was going to but halfway there I got afraid that if I left now that would be the end of us and I don’t want that.”
“I don’t want that either. I’m so sorry I shouldn’t have implied that the cheating was in anyway your fault.”
“That’s the thing, I think it partly was. I pretty much abandoned you and I know that’s a big part of why you did it.”
“I think we’ve been going about this all wrong, I think we tried to jump into a new relationship without resolving the issues from the old one. “
“What are you saying?”
“I’m saying that you need to see if you can forgive me. Because if you can’t we’ll never be able to move past it and we’ll never work.”
“I thought I forgave you, I really did and then I saw Sebastian and I just…I don’t know…I got angry which is stupid because it wasn’t even him.”
“That’s the thing though, we could run into him at some point whether it be here or in Lima, it could be tomorrow or in 20 years and I need to know that when that happens you aren’t going to walk out on me. You need to know you can trust me and I get that but Kurt I need to be able to trust you aren’t always going to hold this one mistake over my head for the rest of our lives.”
“Do you remember when we went to Ms. Pillsbury for couple’s counselling?”
“Yeah.”
“I think we should do that again, not her though someone actually qualified.”
“Ok.”
