It wasn’t a lucky day so far but he was determined to carry on, to make things better. He was at another address. He took out the box and climbed the stairs. Well, he was running up the stairs speed-wise but Kurt claimed he didn’t ever run.
He knocked on the door but as no one answered he tried to open it. It worked and he stepped inside. He was now on the top of the building, close to the sky. He walked to the penthouse-like apartment slowly, and knocked on the door again. There was no answer, so he knocked again – a little louder this time. Then, instead of someone actually opening the door, he got the answer: “It’s open, come on in.”
“Your pizza is here.” he said after slowly opening the door. He peeked in and the voice instructed hi to put the pizza on the table in the dining room. Kurt closed the door and walked straight to the table. He didn’t want to intrude so he kept his eyes from checking out the fabulous place. He put the pizza on the table and then turned around – only to see a gorgeous man on the couch in the living room. He was a bit underdressed – he must had had a shower because he was sitting only with a towel wrapped around his waist. One of his legs was on the coffee table in front of him as he was drying his leg with another towel.
Kurt didn’t have a problem with half-naked, attractive men but he was a bit shocked to see the other guy flashing his family jewels at him for the first time they met. He stood there, staring at his junk when the guy asked him if the pizza was cold. It helped him slap back to reality. He wasn’t a creep after all.
He was out of the door in no time.
Once he was two doors away he leaned to the door, closed his eyes and sighed heavily. He was too distracted to realize that he had forgotten to ask for the money.
“What is it with people today?” he muttered, then opened his eyes and shook his head to get rid of the image. With a new found determination he took off. He had more pizzas to deliver.
Later that day, he had a karate class with the kids. He always enjoyed those classes but to be honest, he knew fairly well that it was a bit pointless to teach karate to five-year-olds. He tried to do his best anyway.
After it was over, he got a phone call. It was Quinn so it was no wonder; Kurt was rushing to help her. Apparently, she had another guy declaring his undying (yet, unrequited) love for her. He arrived to the run-down place, the Java Jive. It was a small caf in the neighbourhood which was closed down. The owner, Mr. Figgins had been friends with Kurt’s father, so he and Quinn turned up there when they felt like it.
He entered the place and saw them. Finn Hudson, the huge but not so smart quarterback was sitting there, next to Quinn. He sat down in the booth and coughed a bit, because the booth was full of dust. He tried to enjoy his break a bit, but it was impossible because of Finn.
“Is he your boyfriend?” Finn questioned and Kurt didn’t even bother correcting his misconception. Maybe Kurt and Quinn being siblings wasn’t really well-known (after all, Kurt didn’t go to school or hang out with his sister’s friends given that he had no free time)
“I can understand why you like me, but we aren’t meant to be together.” Kurt desperately wanted to be some place else but he was stuck listening to Quinn’s version of “How to let a guy down gently”.
“You have no education, no money and even your face is really plain.” – Way to be empathic, Quinn. Kurt thought. “Why are you even trying this hard?”
“Can’t you see how much I love you? You are my angel!” In a way Kurt appreciated Finn trying to woo his sister, but the guy had no clue about women and he was just embarrassing himself.
“Love is important, but you’re conditions are not satisfactory enough.” This time Kurt had to bite his mouth to keep him from laughing out loud.
“What?! Are you saying that his conditions are acceptable?”
Then, Mr. Figgins arrived with three coffees and it distracted Finn from demanding an answer for his question.
“Thank you. The coffee is delicious.” Kurt said to the older man. This was the moment which Quinn chose to say: “Kurt, let’s finish it quickly so that we can go home.”
“Home? Do you live together?! What do you want from my Quinn?” Finn got up quickly and grabbed Kurt’s T-shirt as he wanted to shake him. First Kurt tried to reason him, but then he decided on the quickest way possible: he clutched Finn’s wrists and twisted them so the quarterback was on his knees then let him go.
“Before you do any more stupid things, please remember, that the previous guy I had a battle with is still in the hospital. Just go away, really.”
“You little…” Finn jumped up anyway but Kurt was quicker this time and he tripped Finn, who landed on the floor, a bit confused.
“Leave us alone.” Kurt said and then grabbed Quinn’s hand and they walked out of the caf.
