Chapter 16
Kurt smiled as he walked hand in hand with Blaine, they were walking back towards the car from the ice-cream shop. Kurt got a double chocolate fudge while Blaine got a simple chocolate, strawberry ice-cream with vanilla cream smeared on top. They never felt happier in their life, they felt so free and loved in each other's embrace that they forgot where they were.
They didn't notice the hatred glares that were thrown in their way throughout the walk as their only concern was each other, neither one of them did know what was about to come as it just snapped at them like a bolt of light.
They didn't notice how dark it became, they didn't notice where they parked the car, they didn't notice five men walking behind them with silver bats, they didn't see the devil grin plastered onto their faces; they didn't see what was coming.
It happened way to fast, the first asshole yelled out the word 'faggot'. Blaine stopped dead in his tracks, Kurt gulped very scared at what was about to happen. They turned around and they dropped the melting sweet cream as they only feared what was before them, the men's smile grew wider and much more evil as they continued to step closer and closer to the couple.
"What's wrong, fags?" The second one asked, who was much younger than the rest, "Did the cock went far too deep that you aren't able to speak no more?" The friends laughed and toyed with the metal bat in their hands.
"Listen, we don't mean any harm." Blaine started. "Just let us go," The first one nodded and held his hand in the air.
"Did you hear that boys? These cock-suckers wants us to leave them alone..." The rest of them laughed at the remark like it was the joke of the year, the guy looked at Kurt and Blaine. "Nope, sorry. I don't like you lot glittering around like it's OK to act like this,"
"We didn't choose this!" Kurt stepped in.
"Wow, are you sure you're a guy?" One of the five asked, "You sure don't sound like it." Kurt's heart broke, Blaine was angry. "Awe, I think little cock-sucker is about to cry."
"Shut up and leave him out of this."
"Why faggot?"
"Because you will regret everything.."
"I'm not scared of some gay guy, you lot are just a couple of girls! I can take a punch or two from ya', it won't even hurt!" The guys laughed harder as they continued to toy with the bats.
"It will, just leave us alone!" Blaine yelled as they turned their backs on those guys, they continued to walk away until he heard bottle breaking on the concret ground. "Listen to me, go run back home, don't look back and just go straight home to call for help, leave me here and I'll tell them to fuck off; alright?" Blaine whispered in his lovers ears, Kurt shook his head as tears fell down.
"N-no..Be-ee... I-I can-nt."
"You have to do this, love. For us." Blaine held him and looked into his eyes with a sad expression. "Run and get help." Kurt shook his head but Blaine pushed him away, the guys started coming closer. "RUN!" Kurt took off, he ran and ran not looking back because he knew that if he did, he would have ran back to Blaine to save him.
He didn't look back at all, he ran straight home not stopping at all. He burst through the door with tears streaming down his face. Burt and Finn looked up and gasped.
"Kid, what happened?"
"Some guys came with bats and Blaine told me to run and leave him, he told me to get help.. daddy! Please help him, he might be hurt! Dad!" Kurt broke down into a sob. Burt wrapped his arms around his boy while Finn called the police before grabbing his keys and running towards his car with Burt and Kurt right after him.
They drove all the way to where Kurt last saw Blaine, he rolled down the window and noticed a body lying on the ground, he gasped as newly fresh tears started to fall. He ran out of the door and dropped on his knees, pulling Blaine closer to him, sobbing. "No..no..no...no..Bee..you..."He clutched the body harder as his tears fell much faster. Burt came up to him and carried the body into the car, Finn got Kurt and drove towards the hospital.
Kurt waited while Finn and Burt fell asleep in the waiting room, he couldn't sleep. All he could think about was how Blaine looked, all broken and bleeding; it broke him. Blaine should have not let this happen, if they left earlier then none of this would have ever happened, especially Blaine being in the Surgery Room.
Kurt sighed and took a gulp of his bottled water next to him, his eyes never leaving the door in front of him, the door where Blaine is lying in, where Blaine is all brused and broken.
It was almost another hour when the doctor came out, he sighed and read the clip-board again before pulling his glasses off. Kurt got up and started shaking, "How's he?"
"Mr. Hummel, I have bad news and good news, I think I'll let you pick which one you'd rather hear first." The doctor said, Kurt thought about it for a while before answering,
"Good News, I guess." Kurt was indeed very nervous about this.
"Good news is that Mr. Anderson has broken only a few bones, it can heal and he is in recovery which means he is going to be fine..." the doctor answered honestly.
"But?"
"But we think it had done some damage to his brain, I think the bat had hit him on the head which made a sort of change meaning he won't know what or who you lot are until he had recovered fully... if he does not know you all even after the recovery, I am sorry to say but he has to go into a mental hospital because it looks like the hit to the head might have caused some abnormality in his case."
Kurt gasped and hiccuped, he broke down wrapping himself in an embrace. The doctor sighed and spoke up again, "You have at least two weeks for this recovery, be positive Mr. Hummel." Kurt looked up at him with such a depressing and sad expression. "I have to go and see another patient in the floor above, you can go into room 206, he's in there resting. Good luck, Mr. Hummel." With that the doctor left the young boy. Kurt got up and walked towards the room, completely forgetting that he came here with his brother and father; he walked in and pulled a chair next to Blaine's bed.
"I love you, Blaine. I never really got a chance to say it, but since this could be the last time I would be seeing you in this way... ya' know, before you forget who I am... I just needed you to know how I felt. I love you, I think I knew I loved you when I first met you, weirdly creepy right? We never even made love, but it doesn't matter... what matters is that you should get better... you should- you should remember us! ...I love you, I love you.. I love you..." Kurt cried into his hands, he laid his head next to Blaine's on the pillow and before he knew it, he went to sleep.
The next few days were all the same, Blaine did wake up but as the doctor said, he did not remember who these people were. He was as polite as he was before this whole thing, that sould of his still joyful. He forgot Kurt, he just knew that he was a boy sitting next to him, watching Disney animated movies with him and nothing more.
These days turned into almost the second week, Blaine had fully recovered and Kurt knew that this was it. He lost. He always lose everything he ever loved, Blaine was a big loss. He couldn't help but smile at the man in front of him, that smile that showed love and passion.
It was the day when they had to move Blaine to the other hospital, Blaine was in a wheelchair, Kurt stood beside him. He gazed down and smiled sadly, tears spilling out of his eyes like the rain clouds in the sky, "Blaine," Blaine looked up and grinned, "I love you so much, I do. I love you and this is probably a good bye." Kurt leaned down and kissed Blaine, straight on the lips; this was his last time he would feel those beautiful pink lips... he was going to savour this moment.
He pulled away and smiled again, "I love you." And that was it. He watched the other men put his lover into the van, he looked away and walked towards his car with his family but he didn't hear that faint sound of another voice echoing after him: 'Kurt! Wait, I remember! I love you... wait! Kurt."
That was it, Blaine was far away. Kurt was broken and is stuck in this stupid school... he will find his Blaine someday, he will see how his life turns out but all he knows is that he will never forget his love for Blaine.
