Author's Notes: I originally posted this on my old account, then sort of abandoned it, I guess. But now I'm picking it back up, so yay for that! I don't know when the next chapter will be posted, but hopefully soon! :)This is the first multi-chapter fic I've ever written. It was just a one-shot on tumblr to begin with, but people were asking me to continue, so this is what happened. I don't know how long it'll end up being. In a perfect world, it'd be smutty perfection, but I feel like I'd embarrass myself if I tried to write smut at this point. So for right now, it's got a low rating, but that could change. Just so you know. Also, I don't know how long it'll take before they get together, so I'm listing it as friendship, cause yeah. I'll put it under romance, too, though, because it will happen eventually. Probably not too far in.Also, I'm putting the rating at PG-13 because it will eventually be at least that. If I do build up the courage to write smut, I'll up the rating. But for now, I'll just put it as what I know it will be.I am eternally grateful to Ginny (andthestorytellerssay on tumblr) for being my beta/co-author, and putting up with my annoying tumblr messages and questions and helping me work out all of the little details! Finally, if you have any questions/comments/whatever, I'm teenblainegel on tumblrl, and I post all updates there, under the tag "fic: audition".

Kurt walks into the waiting room, which is already quite full of people also there to audition. It seems like they all know each other already. They've probably been going to auditions like this for years, and he starts to doubt whether he should even stay.

He decides to give it a chance – why not – and goes to sit in a chair by himself in a corner. He sits back and pulls his script out of his bag, and his iPod from his pocket, leaning back in the seat and closing his eyes, to practice his audition songs in his head a few more times before his name is called to go in for his audition.

He opens his eyes a few minutes later to see almost every other person in the room crowded together, laughing excitedly. From where Kurt sits, it looks like there is someone in the middle of the group, seeming to be very entertaining to them all. They all go silent and their heads jerk to the door of the audition room as the last auditioner walks out, followed by the tall blonde woman who has been coming into the room every ten minutes to call in the next person. She calls a name, and one of the girls from the group in the middle of the room stands and picks up the bag beside her chair, following the blonde lady into the room.

Through the empty space that the girl left in the group, Kurt can see the object of their excitement. He looks to be about Kurt's age, and has a mop of dark, curly hair on his head. He also has the most beautiful golden-brown eyes that Kurt has ever seen, and Kurt doesn't realize that he's staring until the other man looks up at him, and Kurt quickly casts his eyes down to the script on his lap, determined to convince himself that he didn't just get caught staring. He can feel his cheeks flushing as he wills himself to peek up again.

Golden eyes stands up from his chair, excusing himself from the group, who all seem to be disappointed that he's leaving them, even though, Kurt guesses that he's probably just going to the bathroom or something. He casts his eyes back down, trying to focus, when suddenly a pair of shoes shows up in in his vision, just above his script. Kurt looks up again, and is shocked to see golden eyes right in front of him.

"Hey! I'm Blaine! I've never seen you around at any auditions before, and you looked lonely," gold – Blaine – introduces himself, sitting in the chair beside Kurt before asking, "is it okay if I sit here?" Kurt nods in response, but not saying anything. "So, you have a name," Blaine asks, tilting his head to the side, and Kurt can see him trying to hide a grin.

"Oh, uh, Kurt," he replies quietly.

"Well, Kurt, it's nice to meet you! I hope you do well in your audition," Blaine extends his hand to Kurt, a huge smile taking over his face.

"Uh, th- thanks. You too," Kurt takes the hand in front of him, giving it a light shake. "I, um. I think you've got some fans waiting for you over there," Kurt nods his head toward the group that had been crowded around Blaine just a few minutes ago. Blaine turns his head to look where Kurt is pointing, and sees that they're all staring at the two of them.

"Oh, uh, yeah," he laughs shyly – making Kurt wonder what he could possibly be shy or embarrassed about. "So, um... I noticed you were watching us, and I was gonna ask if you wanted to come over and hang out while you waited.

"Oh, I wasn't watching the group. I was looking at– I mean... yeah, sure that sounds great." Blaine tilts his head to the side again, the humouring grin back on his face as he starts to get up from his chair. Kurt can feel himself blushing again, and he leans down to pick up his bag, and put his script back in, and pocket his iPod.

"Don't forget this," Blaine says as he leans over and picks Kurt's phone up from the table beside him. Kurt starts to reach his hand out to take the phone from Blaine, but stops when Blaine turns it to himself. "Cute picture," Blaine smiles as he turns the phone toward Kurt, showing the background picture of the New Directions in the choir room after winning Nationals earlier that year.

"Oh, uh, yeah. That's my high school's glee club." Kurt reaches out to take the phone, but Blaine isn't ready to give it back yet, turning it back toward himself, and pressing buttons. Kurt stands there awkwardly, not sure what to say, until Blaine hands his phone back to him with a smile. He looks at the screen to see that Blaine added himself to Kurt's contacts. Just as he looks back up at Blaine, the blonde lady walks back out of the audition room.

"Blaine Anderson," she calls, looking up at the room of people, which has emptied quite a bit since Kurt got there.

"Text me," Blaine winks at Kurt before picking up the bag he left by his chair and following the lady through the door.

Kurt looks at his phone again, in shock, before setting his bag back down and sinking into his chair again, with what he guesses is the biggest, goofiest smile on his face.
