Author's Notes:

Im having a little writers block on the story I am working on right now and the lovely lilyvandersteen prompted a fluffy one shot of Blaine and ghost Kurt watching TV and cuddling and talking about their life together in New York. So I thought Id write it in hopes it gets me going again. This isnt exactly New York talk, but it is the same idea. Hope you enjoy it!

Kurt paced the apartment for a little while waiting for Blaine to get home and then decided he was being silly. Blaine was just out running errands, Kurt could be without Blaine for a few hours. It was just that hed been alone in this house for so long that having Blaines company had become a little addicting. It wasnt just that Blaine was the only person who could see or hear or touch him, it was that…. It was Blaine.

Out of all the people who could have moved into the house it had been bubbling, music loving, always kind, heart-flutteringly gorgeous Blaine. Kurt couldnt help but think about how his life would have been if hed met Blaine while he was still alive. Maybe when he still lived in Lima or even after he moved to San Francisco with Sebastian. What if hed met Blaine at that Coffee shop he likes to go to? Would they notice each other? Would Kurt realize that if he let him in Blaine would be the best thing that ever happened to him?

Or would have they just passed each other never knowing what could have been? Kurt, who always felt cold, felt even colder at the thought. While he would never say he was grateful for what happened with him and Sebastian he couldnt help but be grateful to have Blaine in his life, or his afterlife as it was. Blaine was like a ray of sunshine that warmed him in a way he thought hed never feel again.

Kurt sighed and then closed his eyes and let his mind drift not wanting to just pace and wait and be too clingy. Soon he was just a spirit drifting through the old house. When he was with Blaine he felt real and almost solid, but it was nice from time to time to drift again like he had for years. Plus it made the time seem to move faster, which meant Blaine would seemingly be home sooner.

Kurt was somewhere in the upper part of the house when his subconscious heard the door open and close and he slowly started shaking himself out of his drifting. He opened his eyes to find himself standing in the hallway outside of the music room. Funny how it was just the music room to him in the day time now. Blaine had taken the most horrible location of Kurts life and literally filled it with joy and song.

"Kurt?" He heard Blaine call from down stairs and with a big smile on his face Kurt skipped down the stairs to find Blaine in the kitchen with some take-out Chinese food.

"You eat a lot of take-out." Kurt said watching him.

Blaine spun around and smiled when his eyes landed on Kurt. "I can cook." Blaine said. "But Im also a little lazy."

Kurt laughed at that and walked forward grabbing Blaines hand and kissing his cheek. I should cook for you sometime."

"Even if you cant eat it?"

Kurt shrugged. "I use to love to cook, it would be fun."

Blaine shook his head, "Wed be perfect together. You could cook or remind me to cook and I would be happy to take out the trash and always go check the mail."

Kurt lifted his eyebrows. "In what scenario is this?"

Blaine looked worried for a moment. "I… I just meant… if…. If we…"

"If I was alive?" Kurt asked raising an eyebrow. He tried to keep his voice chipper and not show the touch of sadness and longing tugging at his heart.

"Um…" Blaines eyes shifted around the room before he let out a breath and looked back at Kurt. "Yeah." He bit his lip nervously and Kurt realized he was worried about making him upset. But Blaine didnt need to worry about that, it was something Kurt thought about too, thought about, daydreamed about, wished for with all his heart.

"You promise youd take out the trash? Because I hate taking out the trash." Kurt said and he imagined a warm tingly feeling rushing through him at Blaines answering smile.

"I could do that. And Id always fill the car up with gas too so youd never have to stop and get gas when you were in a hurry."

Kurt laughed and kissed Blaine again, this time pressing his cold lips against Blaines warm ones and pretending that Blaines warmth could spread to him. They broke apart and smiled at each other for a moment before Blaine turned back to his food. He dumped his take-out onto a plate and then headed to the living room.

Kurt didnt think Blaine had actually used the dining room for eating the whole time hed lived here. Kurt followed him and watched as Blaine settled down on the couch and flipped on the TV looking comfortable and so at ease, he started eating his orange chicken and then looked up at Kurt who was just gazing at him.

"Are you going to join me or…?"

Kurt felt himself blush and then hurried over to the couch and sat down next to Blaine, leaning against his side and laughing a little when Blaine wrapped an arm around his back and then tried to balanced his plate and eat his food one handed.

I love you. Kurt thought, but didnt say out loud, he wanted this evening to stay light and happy. He leaned against Blaines side as he finished his meal and they watched a Project Runway marathon. Blaines thumb rubbed softly against his shoulder and for a moment Kurt felt normal. Felt like he was real and alive and maybe Blaines boyfriend.

"Would we have a pet?" Kurt asked suddenly and Blaine turned to him.

"Would we have a pet?" He echoed looking confused.

"In this scenario where I cook and you take out the trash and make sure my gas tank is never empty.

The huge smile that crossed Blaines face was enough to make Kurt feel like he was melting.

"Yes, we could have a pet. Ive always wanted a dog!"

Kurt must have made a face because Blaine shook his head, "No, not a dog?"

"You have to walk a dog, and bring a plastic bag with you to pick up its crap. And then you have to just walk around with a bag of dog poo in your hands!"

Blaine laughed heartily and tugged Kurt closer to him. "Okay so if you want a pet but not a dog-"

"We could get a cat. They are much more self reliant."

"But they leave fur everywhere and scratch the furniture."

"Ours wouldnt scratch the furniture. Ours would be a gentleman."

Blaine looked at him for a moment like he was trying to figure out if Kurt was joking or not.

"Oh! And they sell these little cat collars that have a bow on them. Our cat could wear a bowtie Blaine." Kurt bounced a little and the couch in excitement. "A bowtie Blaine."

Blaines eyes sparkled and instead of answering he just leaned forward and captured Kurt in s kiss, his hands moved up Kurts neck to his hair and his lips tugged at Kurts. Kurt kissed him back sighing and melting into Blaine. When Blaine pulled back his cheeks were flushed and his eyes dancing.

"Okay." Blaine said and Kurt shook his head trying to clear it.

"Okay, what?"

"Okay." Blaine smiled. "We would get a cat. A gentlemen cat."

Kurt bit his lip and couldnt meet Blaines eyes for a moment feeling so happy. He leaned back against Blaines side and grabbed his hand. Blaine leaned his head down on Kurts and they watched Tim Gunn in contented silence.

I love you. I love you. I love you. Kurts heart seemed to beat. He lifted their clasped hands and kissed Blaines knuckles feeling the vibrations of Blaines chuckle from where his head was nestled against his chest. They would never have the life they were talking about, but they had this moment and it was beautiful.
