Kurt rushed forward and grabbed Blaine arm, Blaine looked at him, face set and eyes steely.
"Please." Kurt said. "We can go... but let me explain something first. I need you to understand why..." Kurt shook his head. "And I need to understand what made you change your mind. This is dangerous Blaine."
Blaine sighed and relaxed a moment glancing down at Kurt's hand, still holding him. Kurt let his arm fall and Blaine looked up at his eyes.
"They took Mercedes." Blaine said.
"Wait... what?"
"My friend and neighbor Mercedes? I came home yesterday and she was gone. They took her because she sunk out to see the man she loved... They took her because she... because she had a mind of her own and because she loved someone she shouldn't have." Blaine rubbed his eyes with the palm of his hand. "This is the world we live in Kurt, and I... I never saw it before. Kurt you opened my eyes and now I can't go back."
Kurt bit his lip as his eyes filled with tears. "I'm so sorry about your friend Blaine. And I'm sorry that I got you involved in any of this."
"Wasn't getting me involved in this part of your mission?" Blaine said, his voice hard and his eyes narrowing.
"No." Kurt answered and took Blaine's hands pulling him away from the door. "I took this mission to help The Resistance, we didn't know I'd need inside help until I was already in the middle of things. It was Adam, our commander, who thought we should involve you. But Blaine I told them no. I didn't want you mixed up in this, I still don't."
"You told them no?" Blaine said his eyes growing a little wider.
"I told them not to involve you and then I took you to that party, which I shouldn't have done, and..."
"You weren't getting to know me just to recruit me?"Blaine said, his heart clenching with hope.
"I was getting to know you because... I like you Blaine." Kurt said his cheeks turning pink.
"I..." Blaine blinked at him for a moment. "So you stopped and talked to me at the shuttle stop, and ate lunch with me, and... and kissed me, because you..."
"Because I like you. Because you're amazing Blaine. Sweet and brave and..." Kurt glanced down at their hands, Blaine was holding his back now. "If it were up to me you wouldn't get involved with The Resistance."
Blaine watched Kurt for a moment, his head bowed, cheeks still tinged with heat, and his eyelashes fanning his face. "Because it is dangerous." Blaine said with a soft smile on his lips.
"Yes." Kurt answered and looked him in the eyes. "I don't want anything bad to happen to you."
Blaine took a small step closer. "Something bad could happen to you, but you still fight."
Kurt was quiet for a long time before he spoke. "I've never lived in a World Government City, but I've seen the damage they do. My mom died... because we couldn't get her help when she was sick. And I know people who escaped the WG and I know people who've been killed or... disappeared. I know the risk and I know it is worth it. To beat them. To bring them down. To help free people."
Blaine's throat felt tight and he squeezed Kurt's hands a little tighter. "It is worth it Kurt, that's why if I can help... I have to. What kind of person would I be if I could do good, but choose not too?"
Kurt smiled a little and then let out a long breath before he nodded, his eyes never left Blaine's. "Okay."
"Okay?" Blaine smiled and leaned in bringing his lips softly against Kurt's for a quick sweet kiss. He pulled away and watched Kurt stand there with his eyes closed for a moment before they fluttered open again, wide and bright and beautiful.
"I've wanted to do that since the party." Blaine said his face happy and full of relief.
Kurt's lips tipped up into a wide smile. "I thought you hated me."
"Never. I could never hate you. I was hurt. But I never stopped... I never hated you."
Kurt let go of one of Blaine's hands and swung the other between them. "Then I guess we should go, if you're part of The Resistance now."
They ducked through streets in the cover of nighttime, getting to the warehouse and down the long tunnel quickly. Kurt never let go of Blaine's hand. The guard at the door just nodded at them and motioned them forward when Kurt told him that they needed to see Adam. They reached the big meeting room with screens all over its walls and waited.
Kurt was quiet and fidgety, Blaine felt nervous, but he was also excited. He was finally going to do something. He also couldn't get over the joy of knowing Kurt cared about him. What they had, whatever it was, was real.
Soon the tall handsome man Blaine had seen when he was here before walked in, another man followed, rolling in a wheelchair.
"Kurt!" The man in the wheelchair called. "For someone who is supposed to be living in Principle City you sure do end up back at HQ a lot."
Kurt smiled and gave the man a handshake that turned into a hug. "Why else would we build HQ under the city?" He said and then turned to Blaine. "Blaine this is Artie, he is our tech expert and a complete genius. Artie this is..."
"Blaine Anderson." Artie said and held out his hand, Blaine took it and got a warm handshake in return. "So you're back."
"Um... yes." Blaine said suddenly nervous.
"If it had been up to me, you wouldn't have left last time." The man, that Blaine knew was Adam, said. "We took a huge risk letting you go, you could have given us away."
"But he didn't." Kurt said sternly. "Blaine this is our commander, Adam."
Blaine held out his hand, the way he'd seen Kurt, Sam and now Artie do. Adam's stood, arms crossed as he stared at Blaine's hand a minute before finally gasping it. "And what brings you back here Anderson?" He said without a smile.
Blaine glanced at Kurt and then back at Adam, glad Kurt was letting him speak for himself. "I want to help. I know you need me and I want in."
Adam looked at him very seriously before nodding. "Alright Anderson." He said, "But you need to know what you're getting yourself into."
They spent the rest of the night going over blueprints and holograms and schismatics, showing Blaine where in World Government Central they needed to get to, what part of the computer system Kurt needed access to, and what Blaine would need to do.
Blaine followed along nodding and asking a few questions. They were vague on what exactly Kurt was going to do once hooked into the motherboard, but he did catch on that something big was going to go down on Founder's Day when The Leaders made one of their rare in-person appearances.
Before they left Adam pulled Kurt aside to speak with him. Blaine only caught a few words. "Trust him?" and "Only shot" before Kurt joined him again.
They slipped out of the Rebel hideout and made their way back to Kurt's apartment. Blaine heart was still beating in excitement and he squeezed Kurt's hand loving the feel of having him close. The sun was just starting to rise and the clouds painted a soft pink.
"You know." Kurt said and looked at Blaine sadly, "That none of this means we'll be able to find Mercedes."
Blaine sighed, his heart hurting him. "I know, but if it means the same thing won't happen to others, it's worth it."
They made a turn away from Kurt's apartment and Blaine stopped. "Aren't we going to your place?" Blaine asked.
"No, I'm getting you on an early shuttle home so you can get ready for the day and arrive at work on your shuttle the way you're suppose to."
"And then we get on with the mission." Blaine said.
"I know it's fast, But we have so little time, and the sooner I'm hooked up with the mother board..."
"I know." Blaine said "I get it." The early morning light was casting pale colors on Kurt's skin and Blaine wanted to trace his face with his fingertips. "I have so much I want to say to you Kurt. So much I want to ask. About your Dad and mom, about how you grew-up, about... have you ever heard of the Floating Circus? I just... I want to spend time with you without worrying about being caught."
Kurt laughed and stood close to Blaine. "I feel the same way Blaine. Maybe... if everything works the way we plan..."
"Soon." Blaine said.
"Yes, hopefully soon." Kurt smiled and turned pulling Blaine along until they got to a shuttle stop. "Go home." Kurt said. "I'll see you at work."
Blaine got home, had some breakfast and got ready for the work day. He'd never been so off of his routine before and he'd never gone a whole night without any sleep. He would have been more tired, but energy was buzzing through him making him feel giddy and anxious.
His task for the Rebels was easy, it didn't really take any skill, just clearance, something Blaine had and The Resistance didn't. He buttoned up his shirt and looked at his reflection in the mirror. Maybe, if this worked, whatever the Rebels' plan was, maybe he and Kurt... could be free together.
Blaine straightened his shoulders and tried to mentally prepare himself for stepping back into the routine. He had to get this right.
At the shuttle stop Trent looked his way but didn't say anything. All morning all Blaine did was his job. At lunch he sat with Trent and the others with barely a glance at Kurt.
It wasn't until almost the end of the work day that Blaine stretched at his desk and got up, he grabbed his digital pad and started off towards the restricted area.
"Just walk calmly and act normal." Kurt had told him. "You've been to this area before, if you act like you are supposed to be there, people will assume you are."
Blaine gripped the pad in his hands tightly before letting out a long breath and walking on, loosening his grip and keeping his stride even. He didn't look up when Kurt joined his side, keeping pace as they walked down the long white and silver hallway.
They got to the high security area, a door marked in shiny silver trim. Blaine held up his wrist and let the keypad on the side of the door scan it.
Anderson, B. JCN: 309971 The keypad screen read and the door slid open with a whooshing noise.
Blaine and Kurt stepped through the door, but only got a few feet before a man in drab tan stopped them. "Excuse me." He said looking Kurt up and down. "But do you have clearance for this area?"
"He's with me." Blaine said. The night before they had quickly brought up and shot down the idea of Blaine going in alone, he didn't have the technical skills needed to hack into the system. Kurt had to physically be there, clearance or no clearance.
"That is besides the point." The man said. "If he does not have clearance he can not be here."
"Of course." Blaine answered and glanced at Kurt. "I guess you'll have to wait out in the hall." Blaine looked back at the man. "Our superiors sent us on this task. They should have gotten him clearance first. I guess department..."
Blaine quickly studied the man, he was in tan, so not an Authority, he worked in the restricted area often enough to know Kurt didn't belong... he probably was part of programming or maintenance. So department 5 or 8...
Blaine glanced back down at his digital pad "Department... 8" He guessed, "will just have to get a little off routine as we wait for his clearance."
Kurt was still next to him not yet turning to wait in the hall.
"Department 8?" The man said. "That is my department."
"You'll be okay getting a little behind." Kurt spoke up "I'll just go wait in the hall."
"No. No." The man said. "If your superiors sent you I don't know why it would be a problem, no reason to get a whole department behind."
Blaine smiled and thanked the man before he and Kurt continued on. They got to the room they needed and Blaine used his wrist again to open the door.
They entered a room with big white panels with buttons all over them and a huge clear glass screen in the middle. Kurt immediately garbed the digital pad from Blaine and started working with the motherboard.
"You were amazing." He said.
Blaine smiled and waited, shifting nervously back and forth on his feet while Kurt worked, he slid a big panel out and started reprogramming. Images and codes flashed up on the glass screen and Kurt quickly moved his hands over the screen rearranging things and pulling up more information.
Blaine glanced nervously to the door, then he saw the names and pictures of the leaders pop up in the screen out of the corner of his eyes, and he looked back at the screen, his stomach tightening a little.
"Kurt..." Blaine said slowly as Kurt continued to work. "This plan... I know it has to happen on Founder's Day, when The Leaders are here..."
"Yes." Kurt said not looking up at him, but glancing back and forth between the pad and the screen.
"The plan isn't to... to kill anyone, is it?"
Kurt stopped what he was doing and looked at Blaine through the glass, images reflecting off of his face. "What? No. Of course not. We aren't assassinating anyone! I wouldn't be part of it if we were."
Blaine sighed in relief. "Good."
Kurt smiled softly at him and then pressed lightly on a picture of one of The Leaders. Suddenly she was standing right in front of Blaine.
Blaine stumbled backwards, "Oh my god!"
The Leader was completely still and unblinking. "It's just a hologram." Kurt said.
Blaine slowly walked forward and waved his hand in front of her face. She didn't flinch. "It doesn't look like a hologram. She isn't transparent or anything. She looks real."
"I know. It's a really good hologram."
Blaine reached out to touch her and his hand went right through. He backed up again. "Creepy."
Kurt laughed and pressed the screen again and the hologram disappeared.
"So the plan is too... impersonate The Leaders with scarily realistic holograms of them?" Blaine asked.
Kurt was turning off the screen now and sliding the panel back in. "Not exactly. I know we didn't go over everything last night." He said. "We just needed you ready for this stage, and I will explain, but now isn't a good time."
Kurt messed with the digital pad again before handing it back to Blaine. He leaned in and gave Blaine's cheek a quick peck as well. Blaine's cheeks turned red. "What was that for?"
"Because I can." Kurt said and smiled before nodding at the door. "Okay, back to work. Act normal."
"Right." Blaine said as they walked to the door. "Wait. When will I see you again?" Blaine asked.
"We see each other everyday."
"Outside of work." Blaine smiled and ducked his head, "Maybe I could sneak over to your apartment again..."
"No." Kurt said and shook his head. "You give me a heart attack every time you do that."
"But..."
Kurt stepped close to Blaine and leaned in to whisper. "I could sneak over to your place though."
Blaine smiled and nodded. "Okay."
They walked out of the restricted area together and then went their separate ways. Stepping back into the routine. Trent gave Blaine a funny look when he got back to his desk, but everything seemed to work perfectly.
Latter that night Blaine paced his apartment, Kurt didn't say when he'd come over and every minute Blaine waited he cursed himself for agreeing to this. What if The Authorities had caught Kurt on his way over? What if he was in trouble and it was all Blaine's fault?
There was a light knock on the door and Blaine rushed to answer it. Kurt stood there, a huge smile on his face. Blaine opened the door wider and let him in.
"Okay, yeah. You sneaking around is awful." Blaine said. "We have to find a better way of seeing each other."
Kurt laughed "I know, I know. Sorry. This is all we have for now though."
"Maybe I could... leave... I could join The Resistance for real. Not live in Capitol City we could... be toget-... we could see each other more easily that way."
Kurt's smile grew. "You want that?"
"Of course."
Kurt looked happy but he shook his head. "Not until after the mission." Kurt said. "Everything will change then anyway."
Blaine ducked his head and rubbed the back of his neck. "Okay... what about tonight then?" He said and glanced at Kurt. "Are we going to go see the sunrise or... the Floating Circus!?" Blaine said excitedly. "Do you know about that?"
Kurt smiled at Blaine's enthusiasm. "Yes, I've been a few times. A bunch of WG city citizen sneak out and have a... party? I guess? There is dancing and singing and art... it's beautiful. You'd love it"
"Do you now if it is happening tonight?" Blaine asked.
Kurt shook his head. "I don't know, but even if I did, it would be too much of a risk with everything else going on."
"Oh." Blaine looked downcast.
Kurt walked to him and put his arms around the back of his neck. Blaine looked up and swallowed, Kurt's face was just inches from his and his eyes were wide and bright. Kurt was beautiful.
"I guess if we aren't going to the circus..." Blaine said. "I could make do with kissing you again."
Kurt laughed and his voice sounded like bells, before he leaned in and pressed his lips against Blaine's. Blaine was ready for it and he held on to Kurt's waist and kissed him back, parting his lips and letting his tongue slide into Kurt's mouth. Kurt hummed into the kiss and pulled Blaine closer, his warm lips working over Blaine's. They stood wrapped up in each other until their lips were almost numb.
Blaine pulled back slightly, panting into Kurt's mouth before Kurt moved his kiss swollen lips to Blaine's chin and down his neck. Blaine groaned and tiled his head back, heat coursing through him and making him tingle and buzz as Kurt's lips worked over his neck
"Kurt" he breathed out and Kurt stepped back to look Blaine in his eyes.
"Blaine, I... I want to..." Kurt's already rosy cheeks grew darker and he blushed up to his ears. "I want to..."
"Anything." Blaine answered leaning forward, his lips brushing against Kurt's skin. "Anything you want... just tell me how. I trust you."
Kurt's breathing grew more ragged and he backed up and pressed lightly on Blaine chest. "Your bedroom." He said. And they moved together to Blaine's room.
Kurt started kissing him again and moving them backwards until they reached the bed and tumbled down. Kurt let out a little laugh and Blaine wrapped his arms around him holding him close and kissing him deeply.
He thought he'd try what Kurt was doing earlier and started moving his lips down Kurt's neck until he got to his shoulder and Kurt's shirt blocked his way. Blaine tugged at it a little.
"Can we..." He looked up at Kurt through his eyelashes as he pulled on Kurt's shirt. "Can we get rid of this?"
Kurt moaned and quickly started unbuttoning his shirt, he got it off and then slipped his undershirt over his head as well, throwing them to the side. Blaine was frozen a moment just looking at the pale expanse of Kurt's toned and muscular chest. He ran a hand down from Kurt's collar-bone to his belly before he even thought about it. Kurt shivered and turned over to lay on his back.
"Sorry." Blaine said quickly. "Sorry... I don't know what I'm doing."
Kurt smiled up at him "You are doing everything just right Blaine." He said. "Trust your instincts."
With that he lifted himself up on his elbows, cupped Blaine's neck and kissed him. Blaine felt loose and relaxed and melted into the kiss his body hovering over Kurt's.
"Can we take yours off too?" Kurt said between kisses. Blaine couldn't find his voice at the moment so he just nodded.
Kurt's hand quickly went to the buttons of Blaine's shirt and started undoing them, he slipped Blaine's arms out of he shirt and then went for the hem of his under shirt, he glance up at Blaine's eyes and Blaine just nodded again.
Soon both of them were bare chested and pressed against each other. Kurt bent a knee and wrapped a leg around Blaine to hold him close as their lips worked together.
Blaine felt the heat in his blood start to pound and he was a little dizzy, he felt light and carefree and like he could go on kissing Kurt for the rest of their lives. Then the heat started traveling downwards, swirling in his belly and his groin and his pants started to feel constricted.
He knew what was happening, it had been a long time, but as a teenager he use to... touch himself. It felt something like this.
Blaine's face heated up, not knowing if he should feel embarrassed by his hardening cock or not. But then both he and Kurt shifted their kiss at the same moment and Blaine's erection brushed against Kurt. They both froze and stared at each other. Kurt was hard as well, Blaine wasn't alone.
"Blaine." Kurt said and never in his life had Blaine name sounded so much like music on someone's tongue. "Blaine." he repeated. And Blaine couldn't help rutting down again.
Kurt moaned and his eyes fluttered closed. He tilted his head back and Blaine felt dizzy with the knowledge that he had made Kurt react that way.
Blaine shifted his knees so he would have better access and moved his hips again, dragging his hard erection against Kurt's and feeling heat all over his body.
"Oh god Kurt." Blaine said. "I... I... you feel so good and I..." Blaine stilled and stared down at Kurt. "Tell me what to do next."
Kurt was panting, his hips twitching up to meet Blaine's is a sloppy kiss before he paused and looked at Blaine seriously.
"We... we can just do this." He said planting a kiss to Blaine's neck. "We don't have to do anything more."
"But if I wanted... more..." Blaine said. "Would you?"
Kurt swallowed and then nodded slowly his eyes round and dilated making them dark with want. "Yes." He finally whispered.
Blaine sat up, still straddling Kurt and started to undo his own pants. "Yes?" He asked.
"Yes." Kurt repeated.
Blaine slipped his pants off, but then sat frozen not sure what to do next. Kurt wiggled out from under him and started to remove his pants as well. Blaine watched in wonder.
"If... If something is too much." Kurt said. "Just tell me, okay?"
Blaine nodded.
"Blaine?"
"Yes, I'll tell you." He breathed.
Kurt smiled and pulled Blaine down on top of him again capturing his lips in another long kiss. Blaine started moving against him, only the thin fabric of their underwear between them now, Kurt's smooth chest pressed against his.
They continued like this until Blaine was aching with need, his thrust growing sloppy. Kurt let one of his hands trail down Blaine's chest sending shivers of pleasure through him, he stopped and the band of Blaine's underwear, but Blaine just groaned. "Please Kurt."
Kurt's hand slipped under the fabric and he gently fisted Blaine's erection. Blaine let out a loud whimper as Kurt started pumping him. Blaine felt the heat in his stomach grow and soon precome was leaking out of the head of his cock.
"Kuuuurt" Blaine moaned and jerked forward to increase the slide of Kurt's hand on him. "You... you too." Blaine panted as his own fingers moved under Kurt's underwear feeling the weight of Kurt's cock in his hand. Kurt smiled and bite his lip and everything moved quickly from there.
Blaine mimicked the movements Kurt was making, pumping Kurt as Kurt's hand pulled and rubbed and gently twisted.
Soon the heat in his belly snapped and with a long wail Blaine started coming. His hand stilled on Kurt, pleasure coursing through him. He body shook with the force of it, this was nothing like when he touched himself as young teenager. This was much better.
This was everything, this was Kurt's perfect body pressed against his own and Kurt's sweet lips brushing his skin, it was the smell and touch and taste of Kurt and it was perfect. Blaine came down slowly, panting and pressed against Kurt's chest. Kurt thrust up a few times and then he was coming too, head thrown back and shouting Blaine's name.
Once Kurt's orgasm faded they laid wrapped up in each other, just breathing, for a long time. Until the cum between them started to cool and become uncomfortable. Kurt shifted and slid out from under Blaine, who moaned his name and reached out towards him.
Kurt laughed. "Just a minute." He said and ducked into the bathroom. He came out a few minutes latter with a wet cloth in his hands and his underwear gone. Blaine's eyes widened at the sight of him standing there in the pale light from the windows, naked and beautiful.
"Kurt." He said. "You are... perfect."
Kurt blushed and shook his head walking over to the bed. He knelt beside Blaine and asked, "Can I?" Blaine couldn't speak so he just nodded.
Kurt slid off Blaine underwear off and washed Blaine with the cloth. Blaine's eyes never left Kurt's face. When he finished Kurt placed the cloth on the nightstand and laid back down next to Blaine. They were laying on their sides faces almost touching.
"Was that... okay?" Kurt asked.
Blaine's face stretched into a huge smile, cheeks round and eyes squinty as he laughed, he was so full of joy. "Kurt that was amazing. It was perfect."
Kurt smiled and kissed him lightly.
"I... Blaine." Kurt looked nervous before he took a deep breath and said in a whisper. "Blaine, I love you."
Blaine's heart did somersaults in his chest he leaned forward and placed his hands gently on either side of Kurt's face kissing him back. "I love you too Kurt. More than I've ever loved anything."
Kurt laughed into the next kiss and held Blaine tight. They fell asleep that way, holding each other and smiling.
