Well dear Klainers, this is the last chapter of C&M, though I might write an epilogue, we will see. Thank you all for sticking with me and this story that grew longer and took longer for me to write than I ever imagined. I have loved sharing it with you and I hope you enjoyed it. Hugs all around! :)
Blaine blinked open his eyes and then shut them again quickly. Lights popping in his field of vision and making his head ache. He let out and involuntary groan and turned his face to the side, trying to avoid the glare of light that seeped through his eyelids.
He felt someone grab his hand, soft fingers rubbed back and forth over it. He sighed, and squeezed the hand back.
Images started to play in his mind, mismatched and hard to understand. Computers, and shuttles, and sunsets and blue eyes.
"Kurt." Blaine murmured and tried once again to lift his heavy eyelids. He groaned once more, the light in the room too much for him.
"Kurt?" He repeated, louder this time.
"Oh Blaine." A voice called to him. "It's okay Blaine. It's okay."
Blaine opened his eyes just a slit to see who was talking to him. He didn't know this voice, but he knew it wasn't Kurt.
A pretty Asian girl sat by his side looking concerned. He did know her.
"Tina?" He said confused. He tried to lift himself up before the blinding light of the room and his sore body became too much for him. He slummed down again, covering his face with a hand.
"Don't try to get up or move too much." Tina admonished. "I'll go get the doctor, you just stay right there."
"No!" Blaine cried, opening his eyes up just enough to grab for Tina's wrist.
"I'll be right back." Tina said softly.
"No." Blaine said again trying to get his jumbled thoughts together.
"What's wrong?" Tina asked. "Are you in pain?"
"The lights." Blaine said squinting up at her. "They are too... too" He shook his head not able to think of the word. "Too much." He finally settled on.
"Oh!" Tina gently pulled her arm out of Blaine's grasp and moved away, the lights in the room dimmed to something more bearable and Tina came back to the bed. Blaine was able to open his eyes without the blinding headache, though his head still felt heavy and full of cotton.
"Can I go get the doctor know?" Tina asked.
"Kurt." Blaine said. Clearing his voice and attempting to sound stronger now. "I need Kurt. Is he okay? Adam tried to hurt him and..." Blaine closed his eyes and shuttered.
"He's fine." Tina assured him. "Safe and uninjured. You saved him. You saved us all Blaine."
Blaine scrunched up his brows, he wasn't sure about that, but at least Kurt was safe.
"Where is he?" Blaine asked, eyes roaming the plain white room he was in, as if maybe Kurt was here and he'd just missed him.
"I'll explain everything." Tina said. "Kurt isn't here. But he is okay and as soon as he knows you're awake he'll get here. For know though, can I please go get the doctor?"
Doctor. Right. Blaine was obviously in the hospital.
He nodded and Tina left the room. Blaine took the opportunity to sit up on the bed. If he moved slowly it didn't hurt, and the longer he was awake the less his head pounded.
Tina returned with a dark haired man that she introduced as Dr. Howell. He stood near Blaine's bed and smiled before he started asking Blaine questions and taking his pulse, blood pressure and temperature.
"On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is your headache?"
Blaine shrugged. "Probably a 9 or 10 when I first woke up. Maybe a 6 now?"
He nodded and asked him some simple questions like. "What's your full name?" "How old are you?" "Where do you live?" All of which Blaine found easy to answer, besides a few words he stumbled on here and there.
"And what's the last thing you remember before waking up?" Dr. Howell asked after shining a bright light in each of Blaine's eyes.
"The Square." Blaine answered easily. "Adam was trying to take over and then Sam and I and some of Sam's friends we... stopped him. But he came after Kurt and..." Blaine couldn't help but ball his bed sheets in his fist as he remembered Adam raising the rifle to try and strike Kurt.
"And?" The Doctor prompted.
"I was hit. Then I was on the ground and Kurt was crying and I woke up here." He gulped in a deep breath at the memory. "Now Kurt is gone. I just want to see him."
"I know. I know." Dr. Howell said.
Blaine turned to implore to Tina and realized she was no longer in the room he looked back at the doctor. "Where'd Tina go?"
"I'd guess to send word to Kurt that you are awake. You know he sat by your bedside for weeks? Even slept here. Very unheard of. He only left because he had a job to do, from what I gather."
"He left? Wait... weeks!" Blaine sat up straighter. "How long have been here!"
"A little over a month." The doctor answered just as Tina stepped back in the room.
"He seems to be doing well." The doctor told her. "I am going to set up some time with a physical recovering machine to get his legs strong enough to walk on."
He turned back to Blaine. "They can dystrophy a little with disuse, but it is nothing serious. I want to do a few brain scans as well, but if everything looks good I don't see why you can't be out of here in a few days."
"Right." Blaine said still trying to grasp that he'd been unconscious for over a month. What had happened in that month? What about the Rebels and the WG and where was Kurt?
Tina sat back down next to Blaine. "I think they are bringing you some food and water." she said.
"How long has Kurt been gone?"
"A couple weeks. I just asked someone to send him word that you're awake. I can't remember exactly which rebel camp he is at right now, but he'll come back as soon as he hears you're awake. He didn't want to go in the first place."
Blaine had so many questions that his headache, that had made it down to maybe a 4 on the pain scale, was spiking back up. Tina must have noticed his distress because she took his hand.
"It is all going to be okay." She said with a sweet smile. "I promise."
Soon someone brought him his meal and he ate as he asked Tina questions.
The next couple days were full of Blaine gaining his strength back and getting up-to-date with everything that had happened.
Principal City and other WG cities were still functioning, but no longer under the thumb of the WG. The Authorities had been disbanded and the re-acclamation centers had been destroyed. Rebels and WGers were working to find all of the holding facilities and free people, Sam was leading them, looking for Mercedes. Tina hadn't heard from him in a little while.
And Kurt. Kurt had left to rally the Rebels together and try to show them the importance of working with and trusting the WGers.
It all made Blaine's head spin.
"First of all." Blaine said one day has he prepared to leave the hospital. "We need to find something besides 'Rebels' and 'WGer' to call people."
Tina was there, like normal, and Sugar and Trent came to visit him as well. "Why's that?" Sugar asked.
"Because we are all together now." He said zipping his bag closed. "Having two groups like that is just going to cause prejudice and fighting. We are on the same side now."
"Great answer!" Sugar said. "Will you say the same thing when I ask you that question on my show?"
Blaine had heard all about Sugar's show, he even watched it every day since he woke up. He knew it was doing great things to help with unification.
He chuckled at Sugar's enthusiasm. "And why would you have me on your show?" Blaine asked.
Sugar just stared at him, mouth hanging open as Tina smiled and looked like she was trying not to laugh. Sugar turned to Trent and gestured to Blaine as if to say, "He's your friend, you explain!"
Trent smiled and looked at Blaine a little bashfully. "You're kind of a hero you know."
"Please Trent. I didn't do anything."
"What!" Sugar burst out. "This was you. This was all you. You got Trent and I to go to the motherboard. You gave everyone cameras. You got Lauren to put it up on the screens. You exposed Adam and took a blow for the man you love. Are you crazy! The whole city... no everyone that used to be under the WG, thinks you're a hero. Interviewing you will be the biggest story I've done since Founder's Day!"
Blaine eyes grew wide. "I... no, but I didn't. It was Kurt's program that let you get into the mother board and find all that information. And Sam was the one who got all of you..." He stopped speaking, searching for the right word.
Ever since he'd woken up he had trouble recalling some words quickly. Everyone just waited patiently until he found it.
"Sam got all of you involved. He recruited you."
"Sam recruited a lot of us. Yes." Sugar said. "You put us into action!"
"It's true." Trent said. "As far as I see it, Kurt is the Rebel's hero and you are the hero for the WGers."
"Gosh! I want to interview you both at the same time!" Sugar said.
Blaine felt a little dizzy and slumped back onto the edge of his bed.
"I never meant to be a hero." Blaine said in a small voice.
Sugar opened her mouth to say something else but Tina lifted her hand to quite her.
"Blaine, I know you are taking in a lot right now. But it is good. It is all a good thing. The world is a better place and is working on pulling itself back together. You get to leave the hospital today and go back to your apartment." She clasped in front of her as she bounced on her toes a little. "And Kurt will be back in a day or two, you know he is rushing to get here."
Blaine smiled. Kurt. Kurt would help this all seem less... insane.
"Yeah. Okay." Blaine said, excitement bubbling up inside of him. He really just wanted Kurt.
The four of them rode a shuttle together to Blaine's apartment. Blaine looked out the windows around at the city he'd grown up in and could hardly believe his eyes.
People walked down the streets, but at their own pace. Some of them even wearing colors and new hair styles. They passed some apartment buildings and saw flowers planted outside of windows and even some children playing in yards.
"Kids!" Blaine said in awe and looked at his friends.
"One of the first things to happen was getting children out of training facilities." Trent explained "A lot of people are adopting or fostering children. Those who haven't been placed yet live in big houses with caretakers, nothing like a training facility." He added. "Just a place for them to be kids and be taken care of."
Blaine's eyes grew watery and he nodded, he throat constricting a little. Things really were getting better.
"I'll do your show." He finally said looking at Sugar. "How's tomorrow?"
"Yes!" Sugar said clapping her hands and bouncing as the shuttle came to a stop in front of Blaine's building.
Kurt's heart had been aching even since he'd left Principal City, since he'd left Blaine.
He and Mike were traveling through Rebel territory. Stopping at camps along the way, encouraging people and rallying them for the cause. Even stopping a few riots. His dad joined them at one point and Kurt felt so much better having Burt with them.
It was slow work but with his dad at his side it was easier. And Mike kept telling him how well the people were responding to him.
Kurt had made a name for himself among the Rebels long before he ever transferred to Principle City and they were willing to listen to him. For the most part. He even saw some WGer settling in rebel camps and being accepted.
He was invited to the wedding of a Rebel friend who was marring a man from a WG city whom she'd met a couple years ago at a traveling circus. Now they could finally be together. Moments like this made Kurt believe that everything would turn out alright.
Still, what he really wanted was just to get back to Blaine. He was sitting by a camp fire one night with his Dad thinking about how sacred he was when Blaine had be re-accumulated and then again when Adam had hit him with that rifle. He must have whimpered a little at the thought because it got his dad's attention.
"What you thinking about?"
"Blaine." He said and smiled up at his dad reassuringly. He'd filled Burt in on everything that happened while he was in Principal City. "I know the work we're doing here is important." Kurt sighed. "But I can't help wanting to go home."
"Home?" His dad said in surprise. "Principal City is home now?"
Kurt's heart skipped a beat. Was that true? Did he think of Principal City as home?
"No." Kurt said shaking his head and realizing the truth. "Blaine is home."
His dad smiled. "Ahh." He said knowingly. "I understand that. When we're done with this tour I'm looking forward to getting back to Carole."
Kurt's step-mom was a medic and she'd gone out to one of the fringe cities to help in a hospital there.
"It looks like Carole may settle in a city for a while." Burt said. "They need her expertise and my home is where she is. So yeah, I get it."
"I can't wait for you and Carole to met him." Kurt said, his chest only tightening slightly in worry. Blaine was going to be fine.
"I can't wait either." His dad said and was quite a moment before he spoke again. "You know I am so proud of you kid."
Kurt smiled and was about to respond when Mike came jogging up to them. Kurt stood when he saw Mike's expression.
"What is it?"
"I heard from Tina." He said.
Kurt stomach dropped, Blaine at the forefront of his mind. Oh god, please let it be good news.
"Blaine's awake."
It took Kurt five days to get back to Principal City. Five long days. When he entered the city limits he thought his heart was going to beat right out of his chest. He was so close to being with Blaine he could feel the excitement drumming under his skin.
He hopped on a shuttle and started for Blaine's apartment. He knew his rebel friends expected him to drop by headquarters, and he would, but first he needed to see Blaine.
He also knew Blaine was awake and doing well. The messages he'd received even said that it seemed like Blaine remembered everything. But until Kurt saw for himself that Blaine was awake and safe and himself, Kurt couldn't stop being worried.
The screens on the shuttle were playing Sugar's show and Kurt wasn't really paying attention to it until a warm tenor voice that Kurt knew as well as his own drew his attention.
His head snapped to the screen to see Blaine sitting with Sugar on a big plump red couch.
"Blaine." Sugar said. "What do you think about all the people leaving their WG assigned jobs?
"Well." Blaine said licking his lips, he looked nervous. "I don't think we can ask people to stay with assignments they don't want and still call for freedom. For the first time in most of our lives we have the right to chose who we want to be, and that is too..." He paused. "... too important to stand in the way of."
"But what about the holes that leaves in keeping cities functioning?" Sugar responded.
Blaine smiled like he was ready for the question. "I know that people are working on that problem. In fact, we are organizing an assignment fair, were people can come and learn about different assignment and new jobs that are being created. Some people don't know what they want to do because the don't know what is out there. This will give people a chance to see what jobs the city needs and other things that may interest them."
Kurt smiled and found that he had walked up close to a screen. He gently touched his fingers to the glass tracing Blaine's image. He had to stop himself from leaning his head against it as people in the shuttle started to give him weird looks.
Blaine continued answering questions, getting more lively and confident with each one. Kurt turned to one of the passengers on the shuttle.
"Is this live?" He asked.
"No it is a re-air from yesterday."
Kurt nodded. "Thank you."
Finally the shuttle got to Kurt's stop, he hefted his bag over his shoulder and he hurried off towards Blaine's apartment building. His heart was in his throat as he all but ran into the building and up the stairs. He got to Blaine's door and knocked on it quickly. But there wasn't an answer.
Kurt heard a door open behind him and turned to see an attractive black woman leaning on the door frame to the apartment across from Blaine. She folded her arms in front of her chest and smiled at him.
"Please tell me you are Kurt." She said with a quirked eyebrow and a smile.
"I am." Kurt responded and the froze. "Oh my god! You're Mercedes!"
The woman laughed and then nodded. "Mercedes Jones. The one and only."
"Your back! Your safe! Does Blaine know?"
"Yup. I got back last night, stayed up late getting cought up with my Blaine."
"And Sam?"
"Hasn't left my side since he found me last week." She nodded her head towards her apartment. "He's in the shower right now. I'm sure he'll want to see you latter."
Kurt nodded. He was so happy that Blaine's friend was okay. And relieved for Sam. But what he really wanted right now was Blaine.
"He'll be back soon. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you waited for him inside." Mercedes said as if reading Kurt's mind. "Go on!" She said shooing him towards Blaine's door. "You and I will get to know each other latter."
She flashed a dazzling smile at him and turned looking back into her apartment. "I think I hear my man." She said and waved her fingers at Kurt before shutting the door.
Kurt took Mercedes suggestion and entered Blaine's apartment. He placed his bag down near the door and looked around. It looked exactly the same as it did last time he was here, except above Blaine's couch was the painting of the sunset Kurt had left with Tina to give to Blaine.
Blaine probably hadn't had time to do anything to his apartment now that he had the freedom to do so. Kurt got excited about the idea of redecorating it with Blaine. Hopefully Blaine would want too. Kurt was looking at the sunset picture when he heard the door open behind him.
He smiled, heart hammering and body buzzing as he turned around. Blaine walked in with a bag of groceries in his arms.
"Kurt!" Blaine said and all but threw the bag into a nearby chair. "Oh my god!"
Blaine ran to Kurt and nearly knocked him over with the force of his hug.
"Blaine." Was all Kurt could manage to say as he wrapped his arms tightly around Blaine's back, gripping his shirt and holding him close. Blaine was here, in his arms, safe and sound and whole. Kurt felt his throat grow tight as tears filled his eyes. "Blaine." He repeated.
Blaine was holding him just as tightly and Kurt couldn't tell if his body was shaking from tears or laughing or some combo of the two.
Finally Blaine pulled back slightly, only to cup Kurt's face with his hands and keep him close. "Kurt. You're home."
Kurt smiled. "Yes I am."
He leaned forward and pressed his lips against Blaine's kissing him deeply. Blaine's hands flitted over Kurt's neck and face like he couldn't touch enough of him at once.
When they broke the kiss Kurt felt giddy and happy and he couldn't stop the words flowing out of his mouth.
"I missed you. I love you. I shouldn't have left. I wanted to be there when you woke up. I was so scared for you and I wasn't sure if you'd remember me and I was so worried." Kurt took a deep breath and Blaine smiled patiently at him. "I love you Blaine."
"I love you too Kurt." He said and moved a palm from Kurt's neck to grab his hand. "Come with me." He said and started walking them both to his bedroom.
Blaine was already reaching for the hem of Kurt's shirt when they reached the bed. He looked Kurt in the eye, asking permission.
"God yes!" Kurt said and lifted his hands over his head. Blaine quickly pulled the shirt off and they both made quick work of stripping each other of their clothes.
Kurt moaned as his eyes trailed down the tan lines of Blaine's body. He was just as beautiful as he'd been the first time they were together like this. But there were faint lines of thin white scars across his chest. Kurt traced one from Blaine's shoulder to his navel. He looked up at Blaine worriedly.
"Doctor Howell says they must be from my re-acclamation. He doesn't think they'll ever really go away. I didn't notice them before because of all the bruises.
"Bruises." Kurt repeated in a hushed, tight voice.
Blaine shrugged. "I don't remember much about getting them. I don't remember getting these at all." He said looking at the three diagonal lines on his chest. "But the doctor said I'm fine and they don't hurt. They're just..."
Blaine scrunched his forehead up like he was thinking really hard. Then he blushed as he met Kurt's eyes.
They were kneeling against each other on Blaine's bed and Kurt cupped the back of Blaine's neck and looked at him. "What's wrong?"
"I really am okay Kurt, it's just sometimes... it takes me a minute to think of the word I need."
Kurt bit his lip and made himself not look like he wanted to cry. He was going to have to talk to Dr. Howell himself. He smiled reassuringly at Blaine. "That's fine. Just take your time."
"The scares don't hurt. They're just ugly." Blaine finished.
Kurt shook his head. "No they aren't. They're part of you so they can't be ugly."
Blaine smiled at that and Kurt decided to really show him he meant it. He started kissing down Blaine's chest following the first scar down to his belly.
Blaine moaned and Kurt gently pushed him backwards a little until Blaine was laying on his back and Kurt was hovering over him, kissing up the second scar and then down the third. When he got to the end he kept going kissing and mouthing over Blaine's belly and then down to his groin.
When he took Blaine's hardening cock into his mouth Blaine yelped and bucked his hips. Kurt was ready though, and laid an arm across Blaine's waist as he took him in deeper.
Kurt sucked and twirled his tongue until Blaine was panting and jerking beneath him, making the most delicious sounds Kurt had ever heard.
"K-Kurt!" Blaine shouted and he felt Blaine's hands on him pulling him up. He followed Blaine's lead until they were face to face again, lips meeting a a sloppy kiss. They breathed into each other's mouths, groaning and sliding against each other, both of them hard and ready.
"Kurt." Blaine repeated. "The drawer." Blaine rolled to his side and opened the drawer in the nightstand and then rolled back to Kurt with a bottle of lube and a box of condoms. His face was bright red, but his eyes looked eager.
"How do you have those?" Kurt asked in awe.
"Oh." Blaine said, suddenly shy. "I thought you would want to..."
"I do!" Kurt said quickly kissing him on the cheek before continuing, "I just didn't think we'd be able to do that right now. I didn't expect you to have supplies." He said with a smirk.
"Sam got some for me."
"I love Sam." Kurt said feeling heat start to bubble inside him.
"Just what I want to hear when I'm laying naked underneath you." Blaine answered teasingly.
Kurt didn't say anything to that, instead he kissed Blaine deeply, biting and tugging at his bottom lip a little. Blaine moaned at thrust the lube and condoms into Kurt's hand.
"Show me how?" He asked. His eyes were so round and bright and trusting Kurt thought he could get lost in them.
"Yes." Kurt said and opened the box of condoms grabbing one and tearing it from its packaging. He rolled it onto his hard cock and looked up at Blaine. "Okay?" He asked.
"Okay." Blaine breathed back.
Kurt then lubed up his fingers and started working them under Blaine's balls and back between his ass cheeks to his entrance.
Kurt felt like he was in a trance. A Blaine induced trance. Blaine's body shuttered, his muscles flexing and his breath hitching as Kurt worked him slowly open. One finger at a time until Blaine was panting and shouting for more.
Kurt had three fingers inside him when Blaine called out and wrapped a hand tightly around Kurt's bicep. "You Kurt! You!" He begged.
Kurt had never seen anything as beautiful as Blaine desperate and unraveling beneath him. Kurt kissed him and then lined himself up, slowly pushing himself in. Blaine tightened for a moment and then let out a long breath, relaxing himself.
"Blaine?" Kurt asked not waiting to move until Blaine was ready. Blaine's eyes were screwed shut but he opened them and looked adoringly up at Kurt.
"More Kurt." He said.
Kurt pushed in more and stilled until Blaine could adjust. He did this a few more times until he was fully sheathed in Blaine's heat, pressing in and feeling more complete than he ever had.
"Does it... always... feel like this?" Blaine panted.
"Like what?" Kurt said worriedly, that last thing he wanted was to hurt Blaine.
"This... perfect." Blaine said through labored breathing.
"With you? With us?" Kurt answered. "Yes I think it will."
Blaine smiled up at him and rubbed a thumb across Kurt's cheek. Kurt was bracing himself with an arm on either side of Blaine, waiting for him to be ready.
"Move Kurt." He finally said. "I want to feel you moving inside me."
Kurt whimpered, thinking that if he let himself he could come at just those words.
He lowered himself down and started to move, thrusting in and out of Blaine, relishing the sounds Blaine made and knowing when he hit Blaine's prostrate from the babble of nonsense that came from him.
He pressed in close to Blaine moving rhythmically and feeling Blaine's body heat all around him. Blaine started to thrash and shout, his erection sliding against Kurt's stomach. Blaine clenched the sheets in his hands before he threw his head back, yelling Kurt's name.
Kurt could feel Blaine's warm cum between their bodies and looked to see Blaine's face a picture of pure bliss. Knowing he'd made Blaine feel that was was all it took for Kurt to topple over and come inside of Blaine. His orgasm snapping through him.
Kurt saw white lights and called for Blaine before slumping down on top of him, content and completely spent.
Blaine wrapped a shaking arm around Kurt's back and they stayed like that until Kurt couldn't stay inside Blaine anymore and the cum between them was getting cold.
Kurt kissed Blaine's chest and pulled himself up. Blaine watched him with big eyes.
"Wait." Blaine said and tugged him back down on the bed. "I'll be right back"
Blaine got up from the bed and disappeared into the bathroom. He came back with a towel and wiped them both off before tossing the towel and settling back in bed. He was curled up against Kurt's side, face buried in Kurt's neck. He kissed him there and sighed happily.
Kurt smiled as tears of joy started to pool in his eyes. How was it that he had everything he'd ever wanted laying right next to him like this?
Yes, they all still had a long road in front of them. Unifying the Rebels and the WGers, finding a better way for government to work. Hunting down Adam. Picking up the pieces of a fallen empire. But Kurt knew that no matter what happened from here on out everything would be okay because he had Blaine by his side.
"Kurt." Blaine said sleepily.
"Mmm?" Kurt hummed, tracing his fingers up and down the smooth skin of Blaine's back.
"I"m never saying good bye to you."
Kurt smiled. "I'm never going to give you a reason too." He turned his head and kissed Blaine's lips. "Love you."
"Love you too." Blaine whispered back as they both feel asleep in each others arms.
