Chapter 6 Kurt stretched out, his foot propped up on one of the benches; as he bent down to reach his toes. Santana had wandered off with Brittany the minute she'd shown up, leaving Kurt with his thoughts and his warm-up routine.

After Kurt had stretched his other leg, he stood up to look around at the turn out. Of course, today was a compulsory practice but most people didn't show up until 4pm. A few freshmen girls were sitting on the other side of the gym, giggling and whispering behind their hands. Kurt glared at them, hoping they'd shut up before Coach Sue got here.

Kurt began to smooth down the front panel of his uniform when the double doors to the gymnasium swung open, rather dramatically, with a whoosh and a clatter as the metal handles slammed against the walls. The girls across from him caught his eye; they were giggling and pointing like Liam Hemsworth had just walked into the room. Kurt spun round on his heels, clicking his tongue as he noticed the smug grin on Blaine Anderson's face.

"Girls," Blaine acknowledged the group with a satisfied nod, turning away from them as they squealed and shushed each other.

"You're late." Kurt said flatly.

"Really? Wouldn't have known." Blaine dropped onto the bleachers, using at as a bed, resting his head on his interlocked hands, ankles crossed and shutting his eyes. Kurt clicked his tongue.

"You should be here at 3:30."

Blaine gave no response, just sighing and wriggling down into his hands as if to get more comfortable on the solid bunk. Kurt clicked his tongue again.

"Practice begins at 4. You need to be here at 3:30."

Blaine opened one eye.

"Sweetheart, just move that way a bit." Blaine motioned to Kurt's left making Kurt involuntarily take the step before realising what he'd done. "Perfect."

Kurt cursed himself; he did not need Blaine Anderson to think he was a puppet.

"Okay. Here's the deal." Blaine's eyes flickered open, Kurt's tone moving from annoyed to down-right furious. "I hope, for your sake, you know your place around here. You haven't earned anything and no-one waltz's into my team demanding to be put at the top of the pyramid." Kurt smiled to himself, proud that his inner bitch hadn't taken a hit to Blaine's presence.

Blaine swung his legs round, sitting up and looking through his eyelashes to lock onto Kurt's.

"Normally no-one questions it when I demand to be on top." Kurt's eyes widened. "But you wouldn't know that. Not yet anyway." Blaine had begun circling Kurt, stalking his prey.

Kurt watched as Blaine raked his eyes over his uniform, wanting to believe it was his uniform that Blaine was so intrigued by. He couldn't stand to think of Blaine undressing him with his eyes. It made him want to throw up.

"I don't know what you want but how about you keep to doing your thing and I'll keep to leading this squad?" Kurt had only just managed to get the sentence out, feeling as if the walls were closing in. Was the gym ever this small and suffocating?

Blaine leaned in, not quite touching Kurt, but enough to make Kurt's breath hitch in his throat.

"Because that wouldn't be any fun now, would it?"
