Chapter 3

"Geez, close your mouth. You'll catch flies." Blaine jeered, offering his hand to Kurt.Kurt stared at the boy's hand, before letting out an obviously irritated sigh and slumping in his chair.

"Okay then, I can tell you're going to be a little bitch to work with." Blaine laughed, rolling his eyes and crossing his legs.

"Coach. Are you serious? Who is this guy anyway?"

"Well, Porcelain, if you stopped spraying your hair with lacquer for five seconds to take a look at every issue of American Cheerleader for the last 6 months..." The magazines landed, one by one, on the desk in front of him with a thud. Staring back from the cover was the dazzling smile of the boy sat next to him, hazel eyes shining with the gloss of the paper. On the front of every copy.

Kurt gawked. He'd only ever managed four consecutive copies at the start of junior year. The American Cheerleader cover was a fad, really. It wasn't achieved any more than it was bought. But still, to make the cover, six times at that, you had to be more than exceptional. You had to be perfect.

Perfection seemed a little out of reach for the boy sat next to him, at first glance. Kurt twisted in his seat, studying the boy with a glare, trying to find Blaine's flaws. His almost olive complexion was either the work of a very well done spray tan or the result of years in the sun. His hair was slick with product and stray curls threatened to wander out of place by his ears. Kurt focused in on the way the fabric of the uniform clung to Blaine's thighs and biceps. The way it moulded to his flesh so absolutely was incredible.

"Seriously, babe. Stop staring." Blaine turned the corner of his mouth up into a mischievous smirk.

"Do not call me babe, Anderson." Kurt sniped back, clocking the other boy's hazel eyes, and at once regretting it as he floundered in the pools of honey-gold.

"Why do I need a co-captain exactly?" Kurt turned to the Coach.

"We need an edge this year. We've done the big numbers and we need to get bigger. I'm planning a World War Sue on the cheerleading world. I plan on upping the budget for the Cheerios and for that I need both of you, on the same side."

"Who is this guy? I've never heard of him before." Blaine rolled his eyes.

"This guy," Blaine cut in, "is a star and you'll happily allow him to make your team more valuable as a result of his mere presence."

"It's true. I transferred him here from Dalton Academy. They weren't using him properly and now his perfectly toned behind is mine!" Coach Sue wrenched the reading glasses from her face after her sudden burst of insanity. "This is final. Make friends, become enemies, I honestly don't care, but be the best. Now, your flaming homosexuality, although oddly arousing, is beginning to burn my eyes. Get out."
